Pain. Trauma. Exhaustion. That’s all you’ve ever known from a young age.
You can’t quite remember, you were definitely too young but they’ve told you there was no escape, no other possibility for your parents not to get rid of you in exchange for money, selling you to that cruel lady.
The only thing you do remember is how they cried when they had to let you go, but you don’t blame them. Yes, they’ve traumatised and broken your heart for a lifetime but you know the reason they did it.
Otherwise you would have been able to live for another week, maybe two, until starvation would have hit not only you, the fragile newborn but also your parents. There was no other solution, it was inevitable.
You do blame it on the king though, the castle or whoever is responsible for harm every citizen has to go through, all the hunger and poverty they’re causing by raising taxes as high as possible just to spend it on their own luxuries.
The older you have gotten, the more your hope faded away, burnt into ashes like the fire on the torches whenever there is another revolt, causing everyone who’s involved to pay with their life. Rebellion is useless, you either get killed or they do something else with you.
Maybe that’s why you stopped complaining a long time ago. Maybe that’s why you ignore the harm that you’re experiencing, locked up inside this tower far away from the castle, being kept hostage by the lady your parents solt you to twenty years ago.
To be more precise, it’s the lesser evil. If you wanna call it that. You’re full time occupied with keeping the house clean, cooking food and illustrating the books she writes, working as an author. She’s always been strict, hiding you from the outside world but there’s one thing she’s always allowed you to do – painting, creating art, knowing it’s what makes you happy.
Besides that, she can take it to her advantage, using your hard work for her own publishings. Your situation is too hopeless for you to even think about running away and she knows that. It’s better to just stay here, you’d die from starving within a few weeks in the outside world anyway, unless they don’t kill you before that.
Pain(t). Two words, only one letter differentiating one from another. One word the thing that has ruled over your life from the day you were born, the other your only possible escape, your only hope that’s out there, helping you run away in an alternate world, wishing it was all real, but it isn’t.
It still helps, though, getting through the day, getting through your life. Especially when she’s away again, leaving you alone in the high tower, only a window high up in the clouds connecting you to the outside world. It’s all within reach except for the fact that it isn’t.
She’s been exceptionally kind to you these days, coming back from town with some art equipment – beautiful paint, glittering whenever the sunbeams reflect in it. You believe she’s bought it somewhere else, possibly a new booth at the market since those are appliances you’ve never had before.
The sheer look at them mesmerises you – eight different shades of colours, all together aligned as a rainbow. You’ve mixed them together into even more beautifully shimmering tones and when you try painting with them for the first time, you feel your heart skip a beat for a second.
The glitter evaporates in the air, spreading through the whole room like pollen and it is hypnotising you. You’re immediately fixated on your current task, deeply focused on the way your brush grazes over the canvas, leaving alluring patterns there.
And the best part is – your self called ‘stepmother’ isn’t at home now, so you have all time to yourself trying out all the different shades you want. After some practice with rather abstract shapes, you decide to paint an actual scenery, choosing the look out your window as your inspiration.
The castle has always fascinated you, being the place the furthest away from your vision and every night you dream what it would be like to live there as a princess. You’ve imagined what the people there are like, what dresses you would wear if you were a part of the royal family and how the different halls, chambers and rooms look from the inside.
Letting your thoughts run free, you align your brush with the canvas, tinting it in the prettiest shades you have been able to come up with. A huge bed in the middle of the room, a table for studying right at the window and a big sofa are the highlights of your artwork.
It takes you some hours, you’re not lying here and you’re even afraid your stepmother may come back any second, but she doesn’t. Once you’re finished with the picture, you let the paint dry and get back to your assigned tasks, getting everything done.
Half an hour later, when you come back to your room and admire your art, you realise the paint has already dried, impressing you even more in its quality.
Carefully hovering over the different shades with your index finger, you feel a tingling vibration shoot through your veins, so you quickly pull your hand away from the canvas. Glitter starts flying through the air and all magically you’re drawn to the artwork again and once more, you place your finger on the paint.
This time, you feel the material of the thick paper dissolve and when you add more pressure, it feels as if the canvas turns into some kind of portal. Reaching your whole arm through it, your body follows soon and a few seconds later you’re inside the actual room you’ve created.
It’s all the same – the bed, the study table and even the big sofa, exactly how you’ve imagined. You slowly wander around, laying your hand on the soft cushion of the cozy couch and it’s a whole new feeling for you, being somewhere other than in that tower that’s the only place you’ve ever known.
“Excuse me, who are you?” A male voice startles you. With being locked up your whole life, you’ve rarely met anyone of the opposite sex – sometimes your stepmother has brought men home, but that’s all it’s ever been. They didn’t really interact with you, since you had to hide in your room – one of her orders.
“I– My name is Y/N.” Oh, naïve little Y/N. She’s never taught you to not tell strangers who you are, knowing there wouldn’t ever be a reason anyway. “A beautiful name,” the voice gets closer to you and you’ve still not turned around. “Tell me more about you,” he says, “how did you get here?”
But you’ve learned some manners, after all, “Sir, you wouldn’t even believe me.”
The man chuckles. “Darling, Y/N. I’m sure it’s nothing bad but if you don’t tell me, we’ll actually have a problem here.”
Snapping your head around, you look at him for the first time and you take in every detail you can witness – his long black hair is astonishingly laying on his shoulders, the white robes cling to his body exquisitely and his whole presence seems like every perfect human being you’ve ever drawn on your canvas.
“I–“ you start, hastily searching around the room until your eyes meet a canvas with a tower painted on it – suspiciously familiar looking to your home. “It sounds stupid but I’ve come through this artwork.”
Hyunjin tilts his head, looking at the object in question but when you think he doesn’t believe you – actually, you wouldn’t blame him if you’re honest, this all sounds so ridiculous – you approach it, laying your hand on the paint.
Sparkles are set free and when your fingers merge into the fabric, it seems as if Hyunjin’s eyes may fall out any second. “Unbelievable,” he exhales, getting closer to you and trying the same, now completely convinced by your explanation.
“So– you can come here and go back whenever you want?” He questions, pulling his hands away again. “Seems like it, I haven’t tried it before.” Hyunjin lets out a small hum, indicating he’s thinking about something, contemplating how to word it.
“I’ve always only known this castle, wasn’t allowed to take a step out into the real world, you know,” he confesses and you instantly connect with him. Once Hyunjin has secured the doors to his chambers locked, he offers you to take a seat on the sofa, taking the place next to you but leaving a respectful amount of space between the both of you.
“Then, Y/N, tell me everything about you, I’m curious,” he starts.
“Shouldn’t you tell me your name first, hm?” You don’t know where you’re getting the confidence – or social skills – from but secretly reading all these romance books your stepmother has been hiding from you without any success seems to be worth it.
“I’m Hyunjin,” he says and instantly regrets it – the name must be familiar to you and the fact he’s already revealed he’s been living in the castle his whole life, makes him worry you’ll find out about his real identity.
But even if you knew you couldn’t care less – it’s all so fascinating to you, speaking to someone new, someone outside this tower, someone from the outside world.
The next few hours are spent with the both of you getting to know each other and you can’t quite explain what it is, but whenever Hyunjin looks at you with that certain sparkle in his eyes, you swear you can feel butterflies erupt in your stomach.
And when his hand lands on your cheek for the first time, carefully placing a strand of your hair behind your ear, you suddenly get woken up from this beautiful atmosphere – she must be back by now!
“I have to go, I’m so sorry, Hyunjin.” Rushing up from your seat, you make your way to the painting, one hand already grazing over the patterns.
“Y/N, wait– one last question.” He speaks all so softly and you turn around again.
“What is it?” He gets closer to you, placing a quick kiss on your cheek and you can feel your blood rush up into your head in perplexity.
“Will you come back again?”
Before returning to the tower, you answer, “I will.”
♡
There are two important things your stepmother has taught you over the years – first, becoming an expert in hiding and lying, giving you lots of advantages with your newly created secret, second, you should never break any promises you’ve made and you don’t.
The second time you visit Hyunjin’s chambers, you can sense he’s been patiently waiting for you even though it’s only been a few days. The second your stepmother went out to town again, you sprinted to the artwork in your room.
“You really came here,” he says, a relieved smile plastered all over his face.
“I enjoy your company,” you confess, already making your way to him before you allow Hyunjin to pull you into a tight hug. He smells like a familiar scent you can’t put into a box, you can’t name it but you swear you’ve smelled it before. Nevertheless, his presence grants you comfort, makes you feel secure.
“This means a lot, you know, I really enjoy having you here.” The time flies by in an instant, as you get to know each other better, the both of you spend hours talking and drawing, but not wasting any of the precious paint, keeping it for better days. All in all, you’re just happy to have each other – so why would you ask further questions? For example, why you are living in a tower and why he’s in a castle.
The days like these pass by and whenever your stepmother goes out to town, you find yourself in Hyunjin’s chambers, babbling about the great artists of your time, confessing to him it’s always been your biggest dream to become a famous painter.
You share all of your secrets with him and so does he – except for one. Neither does he tell you he’s the prince and neither do you explain your family background. The little meetings are a safe space after all and there’s nothing that could come between the both of you. Hyunjin’s company is like an escape for you, it’s all you’ve ever dreamed of, or, correction – he’s all you’ve ever dreamed of.
Faster than you’re able to realise, you start catching feelings for the boy and you’re one hundred percent sure once you compare it to the dynamics in all those books you read. Hyunjin makes you feel like nothing else in the world, one day you even get a little feeling of him becoming more meaningful than art to you.
But you push the thought aside since you don’t want to completely get lost in this maze of safety yet, you’re too afraid someone – your stepmother – will come and destroy your little world. So you try to make the best of it and you catch yourself getting sinful thoughts, similar to the scenes in the books you read in private and your dreams connect to those ideas.
In addition to that, Hyunjin’s whole presence makes your head spin like crazy, makes you forget about any logical thought that has ever crossed your mind and you want him so close, in case the feeling will end due to reasons you can’t control.
To your dislike, Hyunjin senses your worries today, “Princess, what’s going on?” Ah, yes, the irony about him calling you a princess. Little do you know that he'll be the next king and even less do you realise he’d love to make you his queen, if it was his choice given.
“Just some thoughts crossing my mind, you know,” you breathe out, not knowing how else to phrase it.
“You know you can always talk to me, hm?”
You exhale, sighing in the process, feeling defeated by your own anxiety, as the weight of the mattress underneath you shifts a bit.
“I’m just afraid something might happen and we won’t see each other again, Hyunjin.” He sees the fear in your eyes and he would be lying if he said those worries haven’t occurred in his head yet. From time to time he’s thought about just asking you to become his wife but then again – he’s afraid his father won’t approve and he can’t cause any danger for you.
“Princess, as long as you’re with me, everything is alright.”
He places a soft kiss on your forehead and even though he's done it so many times, you still melt at that feeling.
“Y/N?” Hyunjin asks now all of a sudden. “Can I kiss you?”
Looking at him with wide eyes, you’re breath hitches but you still manage to speak, “Yes, please.”
And so his lips land on yours, smashing together like the waves he’s painted in one of the artworks together with you and it feels exactly like you’ve always imagined the ocean – he tastes like freedom, like passion, like infinite desire.
As his mouth moves against yours, he deepens the kiss, while grabbing you by your hips, pulling you even closer. Hyunjin’s tongue starts exploring your mouth, letting your saliva mix together with his and it’s as if the glitter from the paintings explodes inside you.
“Want more?” The boy asks, helping you on top of his lap and you welcome it, never parting from his lips.
“Hyunjin, please, more.” Your wish is his command and even though a little whine escapes your mouth when he disconnects his own from it, you’re enjoying the fact the kisses have moved south, landing on your jawline and neck.
“Feels good,” you whisper, closing your eyes in the process. It’s like a dream, like a fairytale, like all the stories you’ve read in those romance books and your heartbeat increases, when his soft touch starts traveling down, stopping at the barrier of your dress.
“You want me to take this off of you, my princess?” You nod, before adding an eager ‘yes’ and allow him to help you out the first layer covering you, leaving you in only your undergarments. He wants to hold himself back, but Hyunjin can’t, not when you look like this, so his mouth falls agape by the sheer look of your half naked figure.
“You’re so beautiful,” he says, before he starts kissing your shoulders, soaking in your scents, so he’ll forever be able to remember this moment. You can’t help but blush at his compliment, almost hiding your face in the palms of your hands, but Hyunjin stops you, circling his fingers around your wrists.
“Don’t be shy,” he whispers, before getting back to his current art project – his kisses being tattooed onto your soft skin, existing to stay there for some time, the most precious memory he could imagine. You’re his now, even if it isn’t forever.
Laying your hands on his shoulders now, you realise his body is still covered in too many layers and you ask him to get rid of them, which he thankfully does. His upper body now freed, you take in the view of his chest, firm and astonishing. Your lips part in an act of admiration and now it’s the prince’s turn to get shy.
“Don’t hide yourself,” you say, when he looks away from you. “You’re beautiful.”
In an instant, he presses his mouth on yours again, the kiss deepens way quicker now and his tongue explores your own. As his hands grip your hips now, Hyunjin takes all his strength and flips you onto your back – this way he’s able to tower over you, adoring all your features for a second.
“Princess, may you allow me to free you from these clothings as well?”
A giggle erupts, before you reply, “Please, my prince.”
Shock decorates his face for a second and he fears you’ve found out about his identity, but once he sees the desperate look in your eyes, he stops caring about it.
Why would it matter anyway? He’s pretty sure you’ve found out by now, it’s too obvious. But you like him for who he really is, for his talents, for his personality, for himself.
So, that’s why he pushes the second guesses aside, getting back to showing the deepest form of love to your body, helping you out of the remaining fabrics still clinging onto your skin. Now bare naked, you help him out of his clothing, blatantly staring at him for some seconds – his grown erection leaking precum makes you look at him a bit too long.
“Done admiring me?” Heat rushes up to your face in embarrassment, but Hyunjin kisses your insecurities away. Hovering over you again, the soft touches wander down your neck, passing your breasts and his tongue circles around one of the sensitive buds for a moment.
Once they reach their final destination between your legs, you feel your hips stirring out of pleasure – it’s not comparable with anything you’ve ever witnessed and sure, after reading those books, you’ve tried to recreate some of the scenes on your own, without much success.
A long stripe of his tongue meets your clit for the first time, as he spreads your thighs with his arms, making himself comfortable. You can already sense a tingling sensation spread through your lower belly, a pleasurable feeling building up, waiting to snap.
“Feels good, Hyunjin,” you cry out his name, closing your eyes in defeat. To your surprise, the prince carefully slides a finger inside you, a way of preparing you for his plans with you and you welcome it. He’s constantly making sure you’re alright with every move he makes and you appreciate it, reassuring him you’ve wanted this all along.
A squelching sound echoes through the room and Hyunjin could meet his own climax, untouched, just by listening to it, “You hear that? So wet, just for me.”
Adding another digit, he speeds up the pace, your walls clenching around him and after his quiet ‘let go, princess, I’ve got you’, you reach your high, muffling out your moans by placing a hand over your mouth. Hyunjin helps you ride out your high and once you look into his eyes again, he gives you a tender but long kiss on the lips.
“You want to continue, princess?” He asks respectfully.
“Yes, it’s just–“ you stop yourself, feeling a bit embarrassed about your lack of experience. Sure, reading all those books has given you an idea on what it’s like being intimate with a man, but that doesn’t give you actual skills.
“I’ll be gentle, I promise.” As if he’s reading your mind, he realises what’s bothering you.
“Okay.” He places kisses all over your face again, making you giggle about the fact how someone can be both so attractive and adorable at the same time.
“It’s probably best if you change positions and lye on your stomach, it’s more comfortable for your first time.”
Oh, so he is experienced, somehow.
But you don’t question it, of course, he’s got some possibilities living in that castle.
Following his order, your belly meets the mattress and he adds another gentle peck on your cheeks, before he adjusts your posture. Aligning his length with your entrance, he slowly pushes a few centimetres in, waiting for how you’ll react. Once you’re used to the feeling, he slides in deeper and you immediately feel your walls clenching around him, inviting him as if he’s anatomically made for you.
Hyunjin starts with slow thrusts, not wanting to overwhelm you. “So good, you’re being so good for me, princess. What a good girl you are.” Heat rises up to your head again, when he praises you but you’ve got your head buried deep in the pillow underneath.
“So tight and so warm around me, I’ve dreamed about this for so long,” Hyunjin confesses, as he slowly picks up his pace. You can already sense the built up in your body again and the prince quietly giggles about your sensitivity or, rather, the amount of impact he has on you.
“You’re close again, princess?” You hastily nod, feeling tears dropping down on the soft cushion under you and once Hyunjin spots the soaked spot, he feels his cock throbbing at the view.
“Gonna reward you, darling, you really deserve it. So good, pretty princess letting me do all the work and being such a good girl.”
One of his hand sneaks around your waist, stopping between your legs so he’s able to create a circling motion on your clit, driving you closer to the edge. A few second later, you reach your second high, moaning out his name again, this time without drowning out your voice.
With the sounds coming from you and the way your walls clench around him, Hyunjin can’t stop himself, he can’t hold back and spills his seed inside you, a finishing touch of his artwork, bearing the name of love.
Pulling out of you, some of the mixed liquids run down your thighs, but Hyunjin is fast to help you get cleaned, before he collapses next to you, getting so close to you, his face barely separated from yours.
“I love you, my princess,” Hyunjin whispers, slightly brushing your nose with his own.
“I love you too, my prince,” you add the nickname, totally unaware that it’s the truth and Hyunjin blushes at the compliment.
♡
“Dare to explain what this is, Y/N?!” She shouts at you, entering the kitchen where you currently are, busy with preparing dinner like you always do. Every chore is your task after all or at least everything that needs to be done inside this tower.
“Explain what?” You answer, your voice so small, already fearing what she’s talking about. She knows. It was a matter of time, after all. Sure, you’ve hidden the canvas under your bed but since she’s rummaging through your stuff every now and then, afraid you’ll escape, makes it all complicated.
“Come here. Now.” Her voice, however, is sharp, it’s loud and assertive with a little sprinkle of strictness hidden in it. If it was only that, but it’s more, you’re sure. This is the end.
“I said, now, Y/N.”
Laying the pots and bowls aside, you sprint to your room, gaze fixated on the floor underneath your feet. A stinging sensation spreads on your skin, a loud slapping sound echoing through the room, as the palm of her hand collides with your cheek.
“Explain this to me.” Her words are ringing in your ears, threatening to turn you deaf by the high pitched sound. She grabs the canvas from under your bed, holding it right under your nose, your head still hanging low, trying to avoid her.
“EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.”
Sniffles start filling the room, tears are bursting down your aching cheek. “I-I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you,” you say, meaning it.
“Were you trying to escape me, huh?” Another harsh slap appears on your face and you burst out into ugly crying now, your breath hitching whenever air floods into your lungs. “N-No, I swear, it wasn’t on purpose. It was the colours, the paint you gave me.”
She looks around, searching for the object in question and in an instant storms outside your room. You follow her, all carefully not wanting to upset her more. Using the keys attached to her robes, she opens the kitchen window, throwing the art appliances out the window.
The only possible escape out the tower is secured again and she makes her way back to your room, stomping all over the painting of the castle’s chambers, destroying it completely. Colours fade into each other, outlines become blurry and the shimmering tones vanish into ashes until there’s only one thing left – absolute chaos.
“There’s no painting for you anymore,” she speaks, once she’s done with destroying the most precious thing you’ve ever created, “there’s nothing good for you anymore, since you don’t deserve it. From now on, you’ll do housework all day and night and I’ll get you prepared for an arranged marriage.”
♡
Stage one: Denial.
Hyunjin ignores it first, realising it doesn’t work anymore. Whenever he lays his finger on the canvas, nothing happens, as if the magical powers of the colours have disappeared, as if they have been destroyed and he fears the worst. But he doesn’t, he ignores his thoughts.
The days pass by and he focuses on something else but whenever the king, his father, brings up a possible event, some kind of formal ball, a chance for his son to meet the future princess, his thoughts start running in circles. Hyunjin isn’t interested, all he cares about is not thinking about you.
Stage two: Anger.
He’s tried everything, concentrating on painting, on reading, on studying but whenever the taste of your tongue lingers on his and whenever the image of you underneath him crosses his mind again, he develops the sudden urge to let out his frustration.
It starts with screaming into the soft cushion of his pillows, it continues with throwing around the crumpled up papers that used to be some literature notes and it ends in his books being thrown around, smashing against the wall.
That’s the first time his servant enters his room, startled by the sudden noise but Hyunjin shushes them away, lying about it being an accident and that he was slightly frustrated about a problem described in this science chapter.
Stage three: Bargaining.
Hyunjin hasn’t slept in days, he hasn’t even been able to close his eyes for more than two seconds, your image haunting him whenever he tries to. All he does is pray to god, making promise after promise.
He’s going to be a better person, he’ll speak to his father more frequently again, he’ll be a good king once he’s crowned. Whatever he needs to do to hold you in his arms one last time, to breathe in the scent of your skin, to simply listen to one tone of your voice – he’ll do anything and everything.
You’re all he cares about, you’re all he’s ever wanted. He’s never felt this way about someone before and he can’t let you go, can’t give up on you that easily.
Stage four: Depression.
Hyunjin hasn’t eaten that well in days, losing his appetite and motivation to get up. His servant still brings him food regularly but he doesn’t even take a look at the different plates.
All his time is spent staring at his bedroom wall, staring at the pages of his books without reading, staring at his canvas and staring at his bedroom wall again. Thinking about so many things and not thinking about anything at all, simultaneously.
He believes he’s given up by now, he doesn’t bother about it anymore – the way you smell, the way your skin has felt against his or the way the pretty melody in your voice sounds in his ears.
Stage five: acceptance hope.
Hyunjin believes it is a Wednesday, at least his servant has told him in the morning. It’s not a normal Wednesday, for sure. It happens while skimming through the pages of his science books, the one he’s currently studying or more so staring at the letters, when an idea hits him.
And he scolds himself for not realising earlier.
Yeah, of course, you haven’t told him details. This used to be a safe space after all, a safe space for both you and him. After all, Hyunjin hasn’t even told you about his real identity, that he’s the prince and one day will be crowned a king. On the other side, you haven’t told him quite nothing but not exactly lots of infos either.
For what Hyunjin is aware of – you live in an abusive household owned by a woman whose name you’ve never mentioned but Hyunjin has realised you’re stuck in there or worse, probably locked up with no possibility of escaping. He’s sensed it by the way you’ve been interacting – as if you’ve never met the outside world, similar to him.
The only severe problem he’s facing is the fact he doesn’t know how that tower looks from the inside, not even one single clue helping him. But you haven’t had an idea about his chambers either and still you’ve ended up there.
So, for the first time in two weeks he grabs the art appliances from under his bed again, where he’s hidden the objects that remind him of you so much. It feels weird but somehow he manages to hold the brush for a few seconds, enough to add the first outline to the canvas.
And in an instant, he’s back. He’s the old Hyunjin again, focusing on what has always helped him. The paint lingers on the white fabric, glittering through the whole room and enlightening Hyunjin’s surroundings. It’s hypnotising and faster than he’s able to realise, he’s created a true masterpiece.
But he’s hesitant, even though the paint has already dried, he’s scared to try if the portal works, afraid his hopes will vanish into ashes if it doesn’t. But there’s no turning back now.
So he does – laying his finger on the canvas and there it is, sparkles and tiny lightnings drawing him into the painting and he doesn’t hesitate but allow it to.
With a loud thud, he lands on his stomach, surrounded by an unfamiliar bedroom, small, cramped and – underneath a bed?!
Hyunjin realises now, he’s lying on top of your destroyed painting that’s been thrown under the furniture and after hitting his head on the wood above him one too many times, he manages to stand up.
To his bad luck, as usual, it’s not you standing inside your bedroom, startled from the unknown guest, but the woman you’ve told him about. Waiting for an explanation, she’s ogling him, trying to put his face to a name.
“I’m Hyunjin,” he introduces himself.
It is awkward and true to his apprehension, she replies, “The prince? As if. Your beautiful face doesn’t make you a prince, dear.”
Hyunjin sighs, taking a few steps towards her, before he says again, “Only a true prince would go this far to find the love of his life.”
She chuckles. “I’m the love of your life, darling? I feel honoured even though we haven’t even met before but–“
“He’s talking about me.” You’re filling Hyunjin’s vision out of a sudden, standing there in the doorframe and he immediately rushes to you.
“Even if he’s the real prince– I am not letting you go, the prince would be doltish to marry a girl like you,” she scoffs, turning around to look at you.
The idea of Hyunjin being the prince has crossed your mind quite often, if you’re honest. But you’ve never cared about it. You love him for being Hyunjin and not the prince.
“Well, I’d gladly be the most idiotic person in the entire kingdom if it means I can be with her,” Hyunjin says.
You halt in place, wanting to take your time to admire his inconvenient way of confessing, but there’s the next problem crossing your mind – how are you supposed to get back to the castle?
“Good thing I’ve took these with me,” he whispers, while taking out the colours inside his pockets, before he starts scribbling on a blank canvas laying in your room.
From the way his last artwork had started shimmering way before it was finished, Hyunjin has realised – it’s not about accuracy or perfection, the thought and idea behind a painting is what counts and matters.
It takes him only a few seconds, finishing a sketch of a place that doesn’t look familiar to you – a hall dominated by big colourful arches, paintings of angels and windows characterised in the shades of a rainbow.
Hyunjin grabs your hand, before he says, “Hold me tight and don’t let go, princess.”
And there you end up, inside the church of the castle, a wedding dress on the ground next to you, ready to be put on.
