“Men are the protectors and maintainers (qawwāmūn) of women, because Allah has given one more (strength or responsibility) than the other, and because they support them from their means…”
(Surah An-Nisā’ 4:34)
The Arabic word قَوَّامُونَ (qawwāmūn) comes from qāma, meaning “to stand up for,” “to support,” or “to take responsibility for.”
So it doesn’t mean superiority or domination — rather, it means: Men are obligated to provide, protect, and care for their families financially and physically. They are answerable before Allah for the wellbeing and safety of those under their care. The verse implies servant-leadership, not control. A man’s role is to stand in service of his wife and family’s needs.
🕯 Imam Ali (as) emphasised,
“Condemn oppression and oppressors, whether publicly or privately, and avoid assisting them in any way.”
🕯 Al-Kafi 🕯

Do not despair of Allah’s Mercy, for none ever despairs of Allah’s Mercy, except people who disbelieve in Him.
Holy Qur’an, Yusuf 87
“Poverty is like a hidden treasure near God, just like martyrdom. God will only grant it to the believers that He loves.”
— Imam Sadiq (‘a), Mishkat ul-Anwar
What I've been telling myself lately: Just float. It feels so graceful and light. Just float through life. Don't overthink. Don't hold grudges. Don't let someones actions rule over your emotions. Don't negatively compare yourself. Don't feed your mind and body with poison. Live lightly. Just float.
Seeking or striving for perfection in this worldly life leaves no room for authenticity. The only being worthy of perfection is God, so that’s the only perfection we are inclined towards and should be consistently seeking. All else will one day leave.
my lord , i entrust to you - my worldly life and my afterlife.
Margarita Karapanou, tr. by Karen Emmerich, from Rien ne va plus
[Text ID: “I would have preferred if you had loved me less and understood me more.”]
Never allow yourself to be in awe of someone simply because of their wealth or material gains. This is a very shallow way of thinking. Rather, the best of people are those who are best in their character and those who benefit mankind. Let’s strive to be amongst them.
