Yummy Bites: Project Pie
Project Pie Philippines is a DIY pizza place that originated from the US. It was conceptualized by a man by the name of James Markham. Based on what I've read, it's actually the 1st international franchise outside the US.
Because me and four of my friends wanted to try it out for ourselves, we decided to visit the place and experience what it's like to eat there.
As we entered the place, we were welcomed by the staff. They approached us and asked us if it was our first time at Project Pie. All of us said yes, of course. The staff went on by explaining that they had 7 preset pizzas in their menu, with #2, #6 and #7 as their best sellers. Of course, the immediate reaction we had was that we had to try those three and so we did.
As we ordered, the staff suggested some more toppings we could add. We had the option to keep it simple and order the preset menu, or add more toppings of our choice, all for the price of P285/pizza. Amazing, huh?
Basically, what we did was order the three preset pizzas and watch the staff assemble everything in front of us. Then if we wanted to add more toppings, we could just ask them to do so. After that, they put it in their wood fire oven. We went on by going to the counter and paying for everything, then after 6-8 minutes, viola! They called out our names so we could pick-up the pizzas from the counter.
Order #1: Preset Pizza #6 - Grilled Chicken, sliced red onion, cilantro, mozzarella, gorgonzolla, BBQ sauce + italian sausage!
I personally loved the BBQ sauce on the pizza as well as the taste of the italian sausage with the chicken and the red onions and cilantro! Oh and of course the cheese!
Order #2: Preset Pizza #7 - Prosciutto, caramelized onions, mozzarella, parmesan + walnuts + more prosciutto!
I know that walnuts on pizzas seem like a pretty weird combination, but believe me it was perfect! The sweetness of the caramelized onions and the subtle sweetness and saltiness of the walnuts made it a match made in heaven.
Order #3: Preset Pizza # 6 - Their signature red sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella, italian sausage, garlic, crumbled meatballs + mushrooms + more pepperoni!
The mushrooms were sort of the neutralizers with the strong taste of all the meat. Just...perfect!
Oh and I also ordered the China Mist Iced Tea! We were allowed to refill our drinks three times. Because the iced tea had three kinds, I tried everything. In my opinion, the Sweet Peachy Green was the best.
They also sell Coca-Cola products for their carbonated drinks. They also have bottled water and a wide range of beers and wines individually packed.
Order #4: Banana Nutella Pizza
WE JUST HAD TO ORDER THIS.
At first, I thought that the pizza crust was the only thing they were going to bake but I was wrong, even the banana was baked! The Nutella was the only thing they just put on top. It was so good because the banana was thinly sliced so it came out crispy.
They had a lot of desserts and it all looked so good. Too bad we weren't able to order them anymore else our tummies might have exploded on the spot. HAHA!
Overall, Project Pie is worth it! The staff were welcoming and the food was great! They even allowed people to go in and take pictures. In our case, we just asked them to pose for the camera.
Oh and the place was overflowing with quirky design elements which made the whole experience even better!
Our Project Pie experience was awesome and we intend to go back soon!
