The family owned restaurant, Tucci’s, ( formerly known as Matella’s) is found in Rochester, New York at 1479 Lyell Ave. The name changed in August, according to the owner, because he wanted more of an attractive name. Tucci’s provides a variety of different types of homemade foods from hamburgers and hotdogs, to fish.
Tucci’s has been opened for business since 1997 and still continues to flourish. The restaurant has seven employees and the owner is David Mattucci. The hours of the restaurant are Monday through Thursday, 11AM to 2:00PM, and Fridays, 11AM to 9PM. Saturdays and Sundays, the restaurant is closed.
The popular food that Mattucci mentions are “Breakfast Burger,” “My Bleu Heaven” and “The Tucci.” The breakfast burger contains a burger topped with a fried egg, cheese, bacon, peppers and onions. Similarly, My Bleu Heaven is made with a burger topped with bacon and bleu cheese. Another popular menu item that Tucci’s offers is The Tucci is put together with a burger, topped with shaved steak, cheeses, peppers, onions, mozzarella sticks, wing sauce, lettuce, and tomato.
Some of the customers who work near the restaurant reveal only positive comments about the restaurant when dining at Tucci’s. Bill N., who works at Mayday Auto in Rochester, New York, mentions “I go to the restaurant once in a while and I usually order the chicken wings.” John Cueva who was helping his wife with her business at Southern Tier Brewing Company in Rochester, New York, nearby Tucci’s mentions that he went to the restaurant. Cueva says “I got a cheese burger there a while ago and I feel that the restaurant was friendly.” He said ‘I would go again.” Bob Windrum works at Auto Junction in Rochester, New York. Windrum says “I like the fish fried dinner and I go to the restaurant once every two weeks.”
Mr. Mattucci mentions “I enjoy working with people but don’t like doing government paperwork.” He says that most of his customers are more blue-collar workers during the day while at night they seem to be younger people between the ages of 20 to 30. The prices for a meal are “roughly between nine to ten dollars.”
Mr. Mattucci says “Tucci’s busiest times are from 12 to 2PM and 5 to 8PM.” He says proudly “All of the restaurant’s food from local markets such as the fish, meat, and vegetables. Some of the local providers I use are Triao’s, Flower City and Big Apple.” The restaurant is advertised through the Penny Saver, Democrat and Chronicle, ESPN radio, and the Legend, which is found on channel 102.7 FM.
Tucci’s is the meeting place for Rochester Bass Master Club twice a month and once a week there are other meetings hosted. A lot of times, people who have meetings on Fridays will stay to eat dinner. Mattucci mentions “that the restaurant tends to be a more casual set up.” He added that “the off track betting” that is available at the restaurant, attracts a lot of people as well. Tucci’s provides a relaxed atmosphere with homemade food and entertainment for people who live and work nearby.
