The time had come this past June to replace our 2003 Audi. We considered the affordable electric car options, but all were rear-wheel drive (not a viable option living in the North East and up a 1-in-4 hill in the woods). We knew the Audi eTrons were a few years’ away, so a quick search at the VW site brought smiles to our faces: an all-electric Golf with front-wheel drive.

I never heard the band play live, but it was certainly an early influence in my musical life, particularly, Carney's growling full-bodied tone.

Last week I received the news Ronnie Bedford had died. The news bearer is a lifelong friend and a step-daughter to Ronnie. He shared his love of jazz with the world. Just give this track a listen and I hope you'll agree he was a tremendous talent.
Near the end of his life, he played at his convalescent home. One time, my friend told, her mom, an avocational harmonica player, had launched into a waltz, but Ronnie who at that point in his life had narcolepsy, awoke playing not in 3, but in 4 - foxtrot! (I suppose, no matter how conversant we musicians are at playing in any time signature, still revert to 2 or 4!)
I chose this particular recording as we played alongside/listened to these musicians all throughout college. All of them an inspiration to keep practicing.

Winter Wonderland performed the first season (1975) cast of Saturday Night Live with guest host Candice Bergen. Howard Shore, music director / bass sax.
When I watched this live broadcast, I recall thinking I wished to become the music director for this show. Came close to making that aspiration come true: worked for Shore for a few years.
To me, this video represents one of life's best "rules": When unexpected things happen, stick to the plan. You'll be successful, even if you have to detour to get there. Trying to dance whilst playing any instrument is a challenge for any musician, but dancing with a bass sax is really difficult! So, please persevere and have fun!
