Hmm... Animation still doesn't look great, but a bit better I'll give them that. Looks like we are getting some humour in there, but also looks like they are going to rely on stock attacks... Either way I'm excited to see what comes.

The Sailor Moon R movie is one of the very few time Minako/Sailor Venus is shown as the leader of the Sailor Senshi. I wish the anime had used her in this role more, like the manga.

One of the many reasons why this is my favorite Sailor Moon movie. Especially after repeat watchings after reading the manga so I’d actually notice this. Minako really stood out better in the Sailor Team dynamic like this.

Like, Ami scans for weaknesses and such with technology and logical observations, Rei uses her spiritual senses and premonitions to discover evil presenses and their sources, Makoto’s the physically strongest of the five and can muscle through almost anything, and Usagi most of the time heals their foes to restore them to normal humans again. A lot of the time in the classic anime, Minako’s just… the other attacker only with love power. She was a hilarious character, but I wasn’t totally crazy about her as a Sailor Soldier/Guardian way back cuz her role in battle wasn’t anything unique to her in the classic anime.

Here in this movie tho, her veteran status as Sailor V was taken more seriously, so she’s always in the lead of the group, is able to dish out quick and direct orders, and kept morale alive by staying focused on the task at hand. She stood out so much more like this, and after seeing how this is the role she was always meant to play in the manga, it makes me kinda disappointed in the classic anime, at least in this regard. Still love it tho.

Either way, this really moved Minako up for my favorite characters in the whole series. <3

My good friend has two daughters who are now at the age where they can start to understand and follow shows, so I sent them a Sailor Moon care package complete with the entire DiC 90's English dub. Future moonies I hope!

The Settei Project

Back in December, I organized a fundraiser of sorts to afford a massive lot of Sailor Moon settei; for those who don’t know, “settei” is a term for the artwork/sketches of characters/items/settings/etc that animators use as references in order to remain consistent. Thanks to some very generous donors (one donor in particular was extremely generous), I was able to win the lot of 540 settei sheets. A couple of weeks later, I purchased some more settei (mostly of the Stars season) using my own money which helped me round out the collection.

Anyway, after weeks of organizing, scanning, cleaning, editing, and more organizing, I’m finally ready to unveil the Settei Project! In the future there will be a gallery feature so you don’t have to download the files, but I was having trouble with the site I wanted to use and decided to just release the downloads instead of waiting any longer. Also, this project is NOT COMPLETED YET. I still need to scan and edit the artwork of the settings, characters/villains of the day, and other miscellaneous stuff. 

Please feel free to use the settei any way you’d like, but I’d really appreciate a link back to me (not only as credit but so that people will know where they can get the artwork). And please, please, PLEASE do not try to take credit for this project in any way. I’ve poured so much blood, sweat, and tears into this, not to mention tons of time (literal weeks) and money (both my own and that of donors). I’d like for people to respect that.

Digimon Tri is up on Crunchyroll and 2 episodes in, it is fantastic. The giant fight scene in episode 2 is stunning, watching Gatomon kick ass and riding Angemon’s shoulder is like everything I need in life right now. Toei CLEARLY can do amazing work, Digimon Tri is what Sailor Moon Crystal should have been.
