1/16/16: SingerÂs Tip #1: Intention
Today on my personal Facebook, I said that my singing voice was in the mood for sitting-in-stool songs. It probably didnât make sense to a lot of people because thereâs no indication that it got any attention, but what I meant was both my singing and my voice decided to finally collaborate at the same time and allow me to sing laid-back songs. Well. Nothing huge and draining, just stuff like acoustic versions of songs or anything that doesnât involve belting or screeching (Iâm good at the screeching).
I know that time was a big factor in tonightâs success, because Iâd already used up my voice by talking to the dog I was watching. It was at around 6PM when I started the jam session. (I donât have any other instruments at my disposal, so I just sang karaoke. Smule Karaoke, to be specific, although most of the songs tend to pause at random points, but it only happens a couple times during a song. Can you fix this soon, Smule? Itâs been going on a while.) Since Iâm in an apartment, I canât go full-on Jennifer Hudson belt or Christine Daae screech, but I try to belt less. I wouldnât know if Iâm doing a good job at stifling myself though. You need headphones to actually enjoy the app and mine are noise-cancelling.
I want to blame the good voice on the tea Iâve been drinking, which is specifically for singers. Itâs called Throat Coat Tea. My favorite one is the Lemon Echinacea. The purpose of it is, and I quote directly from the box: âHelps you sing it loud, say it proud, stand up and be heardâplus, gives your immune system a boost!â If you wanna know how it tastes, they say on the box that it tastes âsweet, viscous and lemonyâ, but, simply put, it tastes like Fruit Loops. Only in liquid form. And if you add honey. I put in four spoonfuls because I canât stand bitterness.
