Singing Tip:
Don’t eat anything with lactose in it before singing, like cheese, milk, coffee cream, or butter. I don’t know why you’re eating straight butter, though. You do you, fam. I don’t judge.

Bad Singing Tip #1
Open your throat. Just really make sure to open. As wide as you can. This will really make you feel more relaxed and comfortable. Make sure you don’t feel tension but make sure you make it ooooopen. If you don’t know how it’s supposed to feel, yawn and then really really stretch the back of your mouth. Like if you were yawning for two people. That much stretch and openness. This shouldn’t feel tense like you might expect and in fact helps you reach for those high notes. How else are you gonna expand your range? It’s actually super natural and great for you. If you have a sore throat afterwards from practicing this, don’t be surprised. It just means you need to practice more.
A tip for all my singers out there!
Hey guys, I have a drink that I make whenever my voice is tired or I feel sick and it really helps! Here’s the recipe:
You will need:
-lemon juice (as much or little as you want)
-honey (same)
-1 cup hot water
Room temperature water (like 2 cups)
Combine and enjoy!
Hope this helps!

1/16/16: Singers Tip #1: Intention
#dearsarahw
Today on my personal Facebook, I said that my singing voice was in the mood for sitting-in-stool songs. It probably didn’t make sense to a lot of people because there’s no indication that it got any attention, but what I meant was both my singing and my voice decided to finally collaborate at the same time and allow me to sing laid-back songs. Well. Nothing huge and draining, just stuff like acoustic versions of songs or anything that doesn’t involve belting or screeching (I’m good at the screeching).
I know that time was a big factor in tonight’s success, because I’d already used up my voice by talking to the dog I was watching. It was at around 6PM when I started the jam session. (I don’t have any other instruments at my disposal, so I just sang karaoke. Smule Karaoke, to be specific, although most of the songs tend to pause at random points, but it only happens a couple times during a song. Can you fix this soon, Smule? It’s been going on a while.) Since I’m in an apartment, I can’t go full-on Jennifer Hudson belt or Christine Daae screech, but I try to belt less. I wouldn’t know if I’m doing a good job at stifling myself though. You need headphones to actually enjoy the app and mine are noise-cancelling.
I want to blame the good voice on the tea I’ve been drinking, which is specifically for singers. It’s called Throat Coat Tea. My favorite one is the Lemon Echinacea. The purpose of it is, and I quote directly from the box: “Helps you sing it loud, say it proud, stand up and be heard—plus, gives your immune system a boost!” If you wanna know how it tastes, they say on the box that it tastes “sweet, viscous and lemony”, but, simply put, it tastes like Fruit Loops. Only in liquid form. And if you add honey. I put in four spoonfuls because I can’t stand bitterness.
