Gets me every time...
I am sure God keeps no one waiting unless He sees that it is good for him to wait.
CS Lewis, Mere Christianity (via danielle-carey)
The woman who is content with where God has her in life, who is content in her singleness, is not vulnerable to the emotional persuasion of foolish men who wander through her life.
But the woman who doesn’t trust God’s goodness, who doesn’t wait on God’s timing, or is controlled by feelings of incompleteness without a man in her life – that woman ignores red flags, lowers her standards, justifies a lack of godliness, and in the end gets hurt by the very man she wanted to love her.
Good stuff right here. Truth!
When your meaning in life is to fix someone else's life, we may call it "co-dependency", but it is really idolatry. An idol is whatever you look at and say in your heart of hearts, "If I have that, then I'll feel my life has meaning, then I'll know I have value, then I'll feel significant and secure." There are many ways to describe that kind of relationship to something, but perhaps the best one is worship.
Tim Keller
Be careful your pursuit and worship of marriage doesn't take this place in your heart as well...
Don't fall in love with someone who doesn't have Jesus beating in their heart when you have Him beating in yours. Because, then, you can not have the same beating heart.
Louis Giglio
As Christian women we shouldn't be moping around waiting for Mr. Right. We should live our lives rejoicing because we have already found Him! And He's better than any man could ever dream of being. He is the ONLY one who can fill the deepest desires of our hearts. We should be living our lives in the freedom of the hope God has given us through Christ and share that freeing power of grace with unbelieving women who are living dead, bound without hope, waiting and desperately searching for a man to come along some day and "complete them". Honey, we are only ever made whole through Christ Jesus. God does not want us placing our primary hope or identity in anything other than our personal relationship with Him.
I hope you have the courage to pursue someone who is worth pursuing, and not someone who is convenient. Convenience is impatience disguised as your desires, you are worth more than what time has told you, you are worthy of finding someone who will wait for you; don’t settle for what is easy, settle for what is good.
