rin itoshi is lying in bed, eyes open, staring at the ceiling.

it’s 1:37 am.

and he’s still thinking about you.

he turns over. then again. then again. his blanket is now on the floor, his pillow’s flipped upside down. he groans softly into the mattress.

you weren’t even doing anything. just laughed at one of his dry comments earlier, eyes crinkling, hand brushing his sleeve for half a second, and now rin’s heart is doing cartwheels like it’s the damn olympics.

he flips onto his back again.

“this is stupid,” he mutters, glaring up at the ceiling again. “it’s not even a big deal.”

but his brain’s like: your laugh. your hand. your eyes. your smile. your voice. your everything.

he exhales sharply, dragging a hand through his hair. he’s rin itoshi. composure is supposed to be his thing. but here he is, being emotionally manhandled by a girl who probably doesn’t even know he stares at her like a lovesick idiot when she’s not looking.

another turn.

fine.

he sits up, grabs his phone, and stares at your name for a long second.

“i can’t sleep. i keep thinking about you. it’s annoying.”

he stares at the message, squinting like glaring might make it less embarrassing, too dramatic, too emotional, not him. he goes to delete it, thumb hovering… and accidentally hits send instead.

“…tch.”

with a quiet groan of absolute defeat, he flops back into bed and yanks the blanket over his head like he can hide from reality itself.

from beneath the covers, he mutters, voice low and miserable,

“i’m never showing my face again.”

rin itoshi. the cool, composed, calculated. just accidentally confessed at 2 am because he was too tired to be careful.

and because, apparently, he’s in love.

god help him.

he rolls over with a groan, dragging the blanket over his head and peeks out only to see the small, round plush owl you gave him last winter, perched on his shelf, staring at him like it knows everything.

he squints at it. the owl stares back, silently judging.

“…stop looking at me like that,” he mutters, grabbing it and plopping it face-down on the bed.

two seconds later, he scoops it into his arms anyway.

“traitor,” he whispers, holding it tighter.
