HE’S laying back on his couch, long legs stretched out in front of him, eyes shut as The Real Thing plays on lightly his stereo. CHICAGO was loud city, constantly moving, changing, messes left right centre - - - but it felt like the closest thing to a home since he’d left Ave in Derry. From what he knew of his weekly calls to his little brother, the place as still pretty much same, and the main point, Avery sounded happy, and that was all Patrick could ask for.
TIPPING the last of his drink down the back of his throat Patrick finally stood, his eyes shifting the floor length window on his apartment to watch the city GLOW for a moment - - - that was until a gentle rapping came through his door. 2:43am? IT didn’t take long for the door to be swung open, however lovely the sight from beyond the threshold was, it filled him with an aggressive form of confusion as soon as he saw her face. “ Ain’t the religious type - - - RED what– ? ”
HEART BEATING JUST A little quicker and cheeks getting warm, she averts her gaze. feeling like a little kid again. stomach fluttering and hands growing just a little clammy. chicago was MASSIVE, sure. but a couple of calls and google searches provided ample information. she’d meant to visit sooner. to show up on some holiday and surprise him. but beverly just COULDN’T do it.
SHE MISSED HIM DEARLY though she shouldn’t. part of her believed it was just a way of CLINGING to derry but another part knew, she was hanging on to the possibility of finishing what they’d started. a far more SATISFYING future than the hell she was in now. considering the fact he didn’t look much different, just stronger, marsh is not as tense.
“ MISS ME, TOUGH GUY ? “ she blinks up at him, a toothy grin. childlike, really. he was no longer a lanky towering boy from high school. as she sported the same bruises and scrapes as she did as a youngin, she must look the same to him. “ well, are ya gonna let me in or do i need to have a password ? “
