Thought I would switch it up with some Shicca, also to celebrate fave couple day for @edenszeroweek!
A little modern / college au. Hope you like it!
“Ugh! Why do I even try to play Mario Kart with you, Bec. I can never win!” Shiki groaned loudly, crossing his arms and slumping back against the couch. Watching as Peach took her gold trophy victory lap on the screen.
Rebecca laughed brightly, leaning against him. “Aw, it’s ok. I am undefeated after all,” she teased, patting his leg.
“Stupid blue shells..” Shiki pouted.
“You’ll get ‘em next time, Shiki,” Rebecca laughed again, ruffling his dark messy locks before standing up and raising her arms above her head stretching. Satisfied with a few pops along her spine.
Shiki hummed in response, trying hard not to stare at the patch of skin on her waist that her shirt revealed when it rose up. His cheeks heating up slightly.
He had become quick friends with the pale blonde haired artist when she moved into the spare room of his apartment for school almost two years ago. The pair growing closer with every day and now making it harder for Shiki to deny the feelings in his heart.
Rebecca was amazing. Smart, funny, kind, incredibly beautiful, the list went on. Shiki had fallen hard for her, but he could never risk the strong friendship they had by telling her how he felt. What if she didn’t feel the same? What if it would make things weird between them if he said something? What if -
Shiki felt a soft touch on his shoulder, breaking him out of the daze he didn’t realize he fell into. He glanced up, catching her concerned crystal blue gaze.
“O-oh yeah! Sorry, Bec.” Shiki smiled sheepishly, hand rubbing the back of his neck, “Just spaced out I guess.”
“It’s okay, was just asking if you wanted to order in some Chinese food?” Rebecca asked, a warm smile on her lips. Soft lighting streaming in through the curtains behind her, surrounding her in a glow that made her look just… perfect.
He caught himself before he could space out again, “Sure, that sounds good,” he replied, clearing his throat before giving her a wide grin.
Yeah, he definitely fell hard for her alright.
A random show was on in the background as they chatted lightly, sitting on the floor and polishing off the too many cartons of their favorite take-out on the coffee table in front of them.
“This was such a good idea, Bec.” Shiki sighed, leaning back against the couch, “Good start to a much-needed break.”
“Right? Finals were killer, ugh. So glad we’re almost done!”
Rebecca’s voice trailed on, but Shiki quickly got distracted by a smudge of sauce that was lingering on the corner of her lips. How often had he imagined how the feel of her lips would be against his, and right now the pull was getting stronger and stronger.
Then before he knew it, he was leaning over slightly, fingers starting to trail along her jaw, making her flinch and turn to him with wide eyes.
His deep amber eyes were trained on her plush lips, thumb dragging against her skin, cleaning up the spot of sauce. Feeling a gasp pass her lips. His other hand came up to cup the back of her neck. Feeling himself drawing closer and closer, until there was a hairs distance between their faces. Then his lips pressed against hers gently, the softest of touches.
Shiki broke the kiss slowly, feeling her shuddering gasp against his lips. Shiki’s gaze trailed back up to hers. Widening slightly when he realized he really had just kissed her.
“I’m sorry, Bec, are you sure you-”
His words were suddenly cut off, muffled by her lips on his again. Wide amber eyes falling closed as she swallowed the groan that tried to escape his throat when Rebecca tilted her head, deepened the kiss. Her arms coming up to wrap around his neck, pulling him closer to her. Soft sounds getting muffled by his lips.
They broke away after several more moments, resting his forehead against hers as chests heaved to catch their breath. Rebecca’s fingers playing with the strands on the back of his neck.
“You don’t know how long I’ve waited for you to do that,” she whispered.
Shiki pulled back, surprised gaze locking with hers.
“R-really?” A soft blush dusting over his cheeks.
Rebecca laughed lightly, fondness reflecting in her blue depths. Brushing back his dark fringe from his face.
“Yeah really, I-I love you, Shiki. I was just… afraid. Afraid of losing you, so I’ve been keeping how I felt to myself.” Her gaze fell, but Shiki didn’t let her go too far.
“Hey,” he said softly, fingers tilting her chin back up to him before his palm caressed her cheek, his expression soft and open. “You’ll never lose me. You’re my best friend, Bec.”
Shiki gave her a warm smile, “And I love you too. I always have.” Giving her another tender kiss.
“No matter how many times I beat you at Mario Kart?” Rebecca teased, smiling that favorite bright smile of his.
Shiki shook his head with a loud laugh, bringing her flush against him.
“Makes me love you even more actually,” he rasped with a crooked grin.
“Definitely,” he whispered against her lips before capturing her lips again. Melting into her warmth that always made him feel like he was home.
