Currently walking to work getting emotional over Butchered Tongue by Hozier and how it IS Emilio:
And as a young man, blessed to pass so many road signs
And have my foreign ear made fresh again on each unlikely sound
But feel at home, hearing a music that few still understand
A butchered tongue still singin' here above the ground
Guys. My bestie was looking after my apartment while I was travelling and she used my PC for a language lesson. She must have taken a screenshot of my pc background (a The Sparrow inspired collage) and she made me an altoid trinket box with some of the pictures.
I don't know how I got so lucky to have a friend like her!

I finished making notes on The Sparrow on 4th October. Today, I finally finished making the same in-depth notes on Children of God. 296 pages covering very character, location and event in the book! Now to start Phase 2 of the project.👀
Guys new/old idea for what to call these Gen AI companies scrubbing all our data
This piece of music has become a main theme in my imaginary adaptation of The Sparrow lately. 😭
Emilo & Elizabeth Regina
Emilio has so few nice things throughout the books, so I just had to draw him and his first pet, Elizabeth Regina the guinea pig.

Today I’m having emotions about Emilio being surprised by the fact that he is ticklish as he approaches 50 years old because no one has touched him in any intimate, playful kind of way in so long. 😭
I’m so dumb, I’ve only just comprehended exactly how Emilio and Marc’s hands were cut for the Hasta’akala process. Like… I’ve read the book multiple times and could never imagine what exactly was done and was getting overly complicated with it but it just clicked and it’s way simpler than I was picturing. Omg.
When it says the process "doubles the lenght of his hands" I thought it meant literally his hands went from, say, 14cm to 28cm 🤨😫
Sameeee, the part that really threw me was "all the muscles of the palms had been carefully cut from the bones, doubling the length of the fingers", like I thought the palms were kinda intact but the muscles being cut just made his fingers super long and useless? Honestly...... it was reading an interview with Mary Doria Russell where she talked about it that finally made it click what was actually done.
I've been making in depth notes about characters, locations and events in The Sparrow chapter by chapter and I've finally finished. 205 pages altogether! Children of God next. 👀
I managed to get my hands on a copy of the Broken Binding edition of The Sparrow, and it's signed by Mary Doria Russell. It's so beautiful, I can't deal!
I fully never expected that there would be a set made like this, but I always wanted one. I'd also been considering buying a signed copy of The Sparrow for £120+ and now thisss. I love my paperbacks but holy cow, this printing is gorgeous.
