The moment her hand touched his, he tensed and almost jumped backwards. Eric's whole life was lived on caution in every way humanly possible. No contact must be made. Otherwise, the curse would win, and he would be six feet under. Would the sea witch laugh then? Or would she look for the next hapless fool? There were seconds in time; he forgot himself with Pearl. He almost kissed her at one point. Memorized by her youthful reaction to the world around her, he faltered until the very last minute. It was too close of a brush with death. Now, he knew he couldn't push the trip further back. He needed to go and confront Ursula. Only then would he be free. "I have to go. Tomorrow we leave..." Her hands, urging him to stay, made him breathe out. Should he tell her? What could the harm be? "I'm cursed, Pearl. Only my soulmate or killing this sea witch will release me. It's why I... I couldn't go through with last night. One kiss can kill me."

ARIEL WOULD HAVE SURELY fixated on the mention of a soulmate, but, something more dangerous followed. shockingly so, the former mermaid doubted herself for a second. did she hear correctly? did the prince himself just say the words sea witch? brows knit, and the tension heightens. her heartbeat begins to quicken. red crown shakes again, but this time, in confusion.

what do you mean, sea witch, eric? are you talking about ursula? lower lip is bitten, worry crashing upon her like a violent wave. how could ariel possibly talk to him about this without her voice? hands give his a tug, pleading for him to speak more, to elaborate. surely eric could understand this gesture! he has to tell her about this sea witch, because if it is ursula... they're in deep, deep trouble.
