Crawling back to you...
i wrote a quick thing about what baelor was thinking when he leaned in toward raymun and called his brother strong with a proud smile on his face, but i'm still thinking about it 'cuz like. he probably liked to brag about maekar 'cuz their other two brothers are not martial at all. not even a little bit.
“daeron belongs on a tourney field no more than aerys or rhaegal," baelor says in the first scene we see him and maekar conversing in. baelor is the first son, and he has to set an example, and here come three other brothers and the first two are turning out to just be castle guys. baelor's the only one breaking lances at tournaments. baelor's the only one out in the training yard, while aerys reads and rhaegal wanders the halls. he's starting to think the third one is going to leave baelor alone in the yard too, and that's fine, he's the crown prince and he likes being able to hold a sword and defend his realm and be a chivalrous knight, so if he's the only one representing his family in this way then he'll do it and do it well and do it with pride.
but then maekar does pick up a sword, and follows baelor around in the yard during training. his littlest brother decimates wooden posts and trades the sword for a mace and asks about stretches and technique and stance and baelor has a sparring partner now. aerys and rhaegal in the halls, and baelor and maekar in the sun. and maekar even follows him out onto the field, into battles, into a war that they win because they are fighting together.
of course he brags about maekar's strength. they're the war guys. until maekar, baelor thought maybe he'd just be fighting alone.
