I’ve found a really good way to study a language and all it takes is a smart phone and some form of text in your target language. 1) Novels, preferably books that are in your language on one page and your target language on the other just so you can double check your translation and 2) Google translate with the microphone function.
I do a page or half a page at a time, depending on my attention span, and I read the text into the translator and have it translate what I say into English. That way I can practice reading Russian quickly, Russian pronunciation, and absorbing Russian vocabulary all at the same time. The key to this is obviously consistency, which I’m still working on, but it’s a very easy and effective way to practice speaking it out loud without requiring a speaking partner.
