EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEEK OF CHAPTER 12 - I'LL GIVE YOU HOPE

She squinted as the sunlight glinted off the surface of the water into her eyes. Taking a breath, her fingers curled against the bench they sat on. Harry seemed to sense it and covered her hand with his own. Neither acknowledged it. They sat there, shoulder to shoulder, hands touching as something tried to claw its way out of Hermione’s chest.

Harry turned to look at her, “We’ll get through it.”

Hermione looked at him, and it made her chest ache in a new way. Before she could say anything, James yelled for him.

“Daddy! Look!”

Harry let out a breath, “Duty calls.”

Hermione nodded, watching him walk away.

“All right, mate, what did you find?” Harry asked, scooping James up before he got too excited in Ryan’s lap.

“Purple boat!” James declared proudly.

“Darker blue, but it has some purple. Good job, mate.” Harry stated.

Harry and her mother both left the deck at the same time, and Hermione crossed over to sit beside her father.

“Thank you,” she told him softly, “For being so patient with him. He really loves you.”

Ryan smiled, “I think of him like a grandson, honestly.” His smile fell slightly, “Maybe the only one I’ll ever see.”

Hermione’s breath caught, and the world seemed to tilt for a moment as she hit a realization. This was his second round of cancer. The treatments were hitting him harder than the first time. She tried not to cry as she tried her best to push down the what-ifs. “Dad, don’t talk like that,” she said quickly, her voice tightening, “You’re going to beat this.”

Ryan’s arm came around her immediately, pulling her close. “Oh, Hermione,” he muttered, pressing a kiss into her curls. “That’s not what I meant. I am going to beat this. I am going to walk you down the aisle. I’m going to annoy you and your future husband for years to come, and I’m absolutely going to see my grandchildren graduate.” He looked at her, “Don’t you worry.”

Hermione nodded, forcing a smile. Leaning onto his shoulder, she listened to the river and heard the distant sounds of James laughing, but the tiny, dangerous thought remained. What if?

It is finished :( Ghost of You and Me: Growing Old With You

I'll admit I cried writing it, but Ghost of You and Me is officially finished. I wrote the epilogue, and I am really happy with it. I hope you all will be as well. The title is based on the song Growing Old with You by Restless Road. I thank each and every one of the people who have read this and followed along since the beginning. Don't worry, there are more stories to come! Enjoy the preview!

“They convinced Rosella to give them extra food?” Harry asked as he leaned on the counter in front of her.

Hermione looked at him. His hair was still a mess, but now with small streaks of grey through it. His tie was slightly lopsided after meetings all morning. But his smile. After all these years, it was still her favourite sight after all that they had been through.

“So much that Luna had cat sick everywhere. This is what happens when our daughters have big hearts and can speak to animals.”

“Because they are adorable!” Rosella called from somewhere nearby.

“They know exactly what they are doing too,” Hermione told her as she turned to the love of her life. “How is he doing?”

Harry inhaled, “He says he isn’t nervous, but I sense that he is. This is huge for him, and for this family.”

Hermione shelved the books that she had finished and glanced at one of her employees, “If you have time, go ahead and shelve them while I am gone.” She glanced at her watch, then looked at Harry. “Roman is upstairs. Want to get him? I am nearly done.”

“Sure,” Harry said as he leaned over and kissed her, “But if you need help, let me know. You need to be taking it easy.”

Hermione grinned as she rested her hand on her bump, their youngest kicking beneath her hand. “After five children, I think I know my limitations, Chief Potter.”

Harry grinned as he walked backward. “You know, I still say we aim for the sixth after this one.”

“I am nearly 37, Potter. We are lucky we got pregnant with this one. Go get your daughter so we can get ready to leave,” Hermione said, shaking her head.

Harry blew her a kiss as he winked, then ran up the stairs.

Ghost of You and Me: The Ghosts That We Knew

Only the epilogue remains, and Ghost of You and Me will be finished. It's bittersweet, but I am excited for what comes next! This chapter's title was inspired by the song The Ghosts That We Knew by Mumford and Sons.

Hermione glanced over at him as Sirius slowly walked into the room sans cane, a bag of crisps in his hand. “How’s it going? Any babies yet?”

Hermione felt her eye twitch as she narrowed her eyes at him. “You didn’t bring crisps in here.”

He held out the bag for her. “Want one?”

Hermione reached over and grabbed her empty water cup and threw it at his head with amazing aim.

“Whoa, fine. No babies, no crisps,” Sirius said, narrowly dodging it. “Pup, please tell me that he is coming soon.”

“She is only at seven centimetres,” Harry told her.

Sirius frowned. “Damn, all right. Anyone want any snacks?” Sirius asked.

“OUT!” Hermione yelled, pointing at the door.

“Fine, fine. I got it. Angry pregnant witch,” Sirius said as he left. “I’ll go eat my crisps where I’m appreciated.”

“The gall of that man,” Hermione groaned, letting her head fall back onto her pillow, “I would love a slice of pizza right now, but I’d just throw it up.”

Exclusive preview of Ghost of You and Me: I Do in two weeks!

Walking over to the lift, the moment the doors closed, Hermione found her back pressed against the mirrored wall as it started up to the top floor. She smirked as he didn’t waste any time, and he grabbed the back of her legs so that she could wrap them around his waist. “You are supposed to wait until the room,” Hermione stated, “Anyone could come in at any time.”

“Well then, we’ll just give them-” Harry said as the car slowed to a stop, “Shite.”

Hermione laughed as the doors opened and an older couple was about to enter as Harry let her down, and she buried her face in Harry’s shoulder as he cleared his throat, “We are going up.”

The gentleman stared in disbelief as the woman smiled, “We will wait, dears. Congratulations.”

As soon as the doors shut again, Hermione hit Harry’s shoulder, “Told you!”

Harry just laughed as they finally made it up to the top floor, and Harry picked her up the correct way to carry her over the threshold.

“Wait!” Hermione said, holding onto the door as it was about to close, “Our suitcase.”

“Shite, I suck at this,” Harry said as he set her down and grabbed it, then took her hand, leading her to their room for the night.

“Might be time for a big boy bed,” Hermione told him. “Once he does it once…”

“He’ll do it again,” Harry finished as he walked over to her side. “Alright, mate. Time to go back to bed.”

James protested as Harry slid his hands underneath him. “No!” he yelled, clinging to Hermione. “Nee Nee no.”

“He’s fine, Harry,” she said gently.

James patted the bed beside them. “Daddy, night night.”

Harry stared at him. “James…”

“No,” James said, shaking his head. “Nee Nee, Ase, Daddy, night night.”

Hermione grinned. “Well, you’ve been told.”

Harry yawned, running his hand down his face. “James, we are not sleeping in Aunt Hermione’s-”

“It’s five in the morning,” Hermione told him, “It’s only a couple more hours.”

Harry hesitated for a moment before James reached out for him.

“When you have to get ready, if he’s still asleep, just leave him,” Hermione stated. “If he’s still out when you leave, I’ll just take him with me to Mum and Dad’s.”

Harry sat on the edge of the bed. “I was trying to avoid stress for your dad.”

Hermione’s hand paused on James’s back. “I know, but he loves having Jase there. Even more so now.”

Harry sighed, defeated, “All right.” He walked around to the other side of the bed and climbed in so that his son was between the two of them. “This is ridiculous.”

Hermione turned towards him as James held onto her in his sleep and closed her eyes. “I don’t know… it kind of feels nice.”

Harry didn’t respond right away. Hermione was nearly asleep when she heard, “Yeah, it does.” As she drifted off to sleep.

I have been writing fanfiction now for 25 years. I have always written stories that I would want to read, that have a little bit of real life scattered in and a little bit of a diary at points.

Recently, maybe I've been more aware of it, and I have seen people talking about my stories. Talking about them when positively comparing them to other stories' aspects.

Sometimes stories take off. Sometimes they don't. With my first stories, I would be so happy to get one or two comments every once in a while. I made friends through stories. I am truly blown away now when I get multiple comments on stories and see people recommending my stories.

If you are starting on the writing journey, don't give up. Fine tune your craft. Take time to enjoy it. Maybe people won't show up, but at the same time, someone will find it, and something will speak to them.

I wish I could go back in time to the young Princess, who sat there in 9th grade, a notebook in hand, as I watched the Twin Towers come down. Who used creating worlds she could only dream up to escape into. The run from the loneliness, the rejection, the heartache. To let her know that eventually, the hidden life she had wouldn't be so hidden. That people would actually listen and that hard work pays off.

I want to thank each and every person who reads my stories. I do this for my enjoyment, but I am glad others are getting enjoyment out of them as well.

Ghost of You and Me: Two is Better than One

Well, by no surprise, I didn't wrap up Ghost in two chapters. I was fooling myself if I thought I could. The last chapter is now two chapters. Chapter 56 is called Two is Better than One inspired by BoysLikeGirls song by the same name!

Hermione groaned, “Don’t remind me. I’ll never look at another mushroom again. I was convinced I’d poisoned myself.”

Harry reached up and took her hand, “I like this pregnancy better.”

“So do I,” Hermione smiled.

Harry grabbed her legs and tugged, making Hermione squeal in surprise as she suddenly was on her back. He wrapped an arm around her waist, “So… how are you feeling this morning?”

Hermione snuggled closer to him, resting her head against his shoulder. “Honestly? Really good.” She looked at him, “So good that I think we have time for-” she giggled as he read her mind and began kissing her neck. “Glad we’re on the same page.”

Harry pulled the covers over them, and Hermione grinned as she looked up at his dark shape beneath their comforter. “Are we pretending to camp?”

Harry leaned down and kissed her, “Well, Rosella was conceived while camping.”

Hermione laughed as she moved her leg up and rubbed up against him, making him hiss, “If you want to call it that. That’s not the camping I want to do again.”

Harry kissed her neck, “We should try it for a bit. The proper way.”

“Mumma?”

Hermione froze.

“Daddy?”
