I owe Arthur for most of my intelligenceÂ
I had a mustache at one point.
I’ve been listening to these five albums every night for weeks
Well, the new Modest Mouse one for weeks, lol, I’ve been listening to the other ones every night for a damn long while. Mostly devil and god though. I just really love that album. The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me- Brand New Strangers to Ourselves- Modest Mouse Jason Isbell- Southeastern Neutral Milk Hotel- In the Aeroplane over the Sea Daisy- Brand New
I have probably listed my favorite songs on here like ten times, they’re constantly changing lol they mostly consist of nineties rock or indie rock I don’t think that will ever change
so they say they say in Heaven there’s no husbands and wives on the day that I go up they’ll be completely out of their forgiveness supplies and I can’t use the telephone to tell you that I’m dead and I’m gone so you won’t know you won’t know no you won’t know yeah you won’t know I always imagined this song was talking about, like, how you won’t know you’re dead and the other person won’t know where you wound up or you lost touch with them and they didn't know/care you were dead or you’re both dead and you both don’t know... maybe it’s a little of all three of them... the pronouns might be interchangeable. Either way this song is so incredibly powerfulÂ
Where did my life go
All these review sites ripping apart Strangers To Ourselves... I don’t think they have really listened to all that much Modest Mouse, at least Isaac’s lyrics. His words have impacted me in such a way, which you know, makes me super biased but... One of the constant themes (in my opinion) in Modest Mouse songs is uncertainty in life and death and this album takes it a whole new level. I also have read about how the album is “too diverse”... Really? Every single Modest Mouse album is like going to a candy store and realizing you can actually have aqua blue M&M’s. A few complaints on the opening track not being “explosive”, well the opener and the closer tie together like headphones left in your pockets all day and I think that’s just damn dandy. I think that the point in that (if there was one, just my particular thinking on it) was to symbolize being born. Really soft and weird. Same with the closing track. You’re born soft and weird, you go out soft and weird. “Pups and Dust” really makes me believe this stronger. Like I mentioned prior, the uncertainty in life and death themes... I love them and I could listen to Isaac’s thoughts on it all day. I think this album is brilliant. “This rock of ours is just some big mistake and we will never know just where we go or where we have came from” How the fuck can you not listen to that and just think about how crazy this life is? Also... please stop comparing everything they did after The Moon and Antarctica to The Moon and Antarctica or anything released prior.
