hello sir afton :-) i read your lore post earlier, and am curious/would like clarification on a few things (plsss don't feel obligated to answer anything you don't want to, im just a v nosey creature and sometimes do not know when questions are too personal uhhh)
- this may be a stupidass question since you ARE william afton, but the way you worded things made me unsure; were you the one responsible for the missing children in your canon? if not, did you have any idea who/what was?
- what kind of strange occurrences happened in the theater after the kids went missing? i know that in fnaf obviously the animatronics started acting weird but i assume the theater didn't have any animatronics since none were mentioned, so im not sure what would substitute in this case
- why did henry shoot you? 😓

In my canon I was not responsible for the missing children. Henry was, I was suspicious about it but only got confirmation later on.
While there were no animatronics in the theater we had puppets/marriontes. There were reports of them being moved around without the workers doing so. Some "accidents" around the theater especially the storage section started happening. Such as heavy crates falling, etc. Mainly at night as well.
Henry shot me because I found out/was suspicious about what he did and I was planning to go public about it after collecting enough evidence.
Everything will be under a cut as it's rather long. I will say I'm not incredibly good at writing. So don't get your hopes up that this is done well. I wouldn't say I'm a terrible writer but I wouldn't say I'm a great one either. I will probably add more as time goes on as this isn't everything. Feel free to ask questions as well.
I was a professor at a well known theater school alongside Henry Emily. We held live performances together in an old theater which was later abandoned after some children went missing. We did magic shows, plays and the like.
Before our performances and classes became successful I was only an Earl, like my father Amos had been. While Henry had already been a Duke. He allowed me to work with him because I had great, interesting ideas- though, he took most of them as his own before I was promoted to Dukedom. He said it was for the good of the business, to get it more popular.
Outside of work I would occasionally participate in tarot readings. Every couple of months or so but sometimes more frequent than that.
While my work was mainly on the stage or in the theater I still did a lot of it at the estate in my study as well e.g., going over playwrights, coming up with new scripts, creating classroom assignments, etc. so I spent quite a bit of time there. My children on occasion, would come and bother me while I was working much to my displeasure. Though I did try and make time for them whenever I could.
My wife Esme Afton was pretty absent spending most of her time at expensive galas and other events so it was mostly me, the maids/butlers or my son Michael taking care of my (other) children.
I had three children my oldest son who was 15 Michael, my only daughter and middle child who was 11 Elizabeth and my youngest son who was 10 Noah/Cecil. Each had their own ‘stage-mask’ although they were not in any of the performances me and henry did. Michael had a fox mask, Elizabeth a regular masquerade mask that her mother gave to her and Noah/Cecil had a brown bear mask similar to Henry’s yellow one.
Henry's daughter also had a mask. It was a masquerade mask like Elizabeth's. I don't know where she got it from. Probably Henry or her mother Nora.
The missing children were seen going down into the dressing rooms which were in the theater’s cellar. Which was off limits to anyone not apart of the workers. Though they never came back out.
After the five children went missing with no explanation or clue to their whereabouts, we often got reports about strange occurrences within the theater. Especially around nightfall. Rumors spread about and eventually the theater was abandoned as we moved to a better location.
I had a rabbit mask that I wore during performances and he had a bear mask, both were yellow in color though Henry's bear mask was slightly a mucky brownish yellow while mine was more of a golden yellow.
One day, Henry shot me in the chest twice and hid my body in the old theater’s cellar in the storage section. With my mask still on.
Sorry to make another request and feel free to ignore but. What about your swap au designs but nobel.. so duke/prince version? If this makes any sense. 💜

My kids were about the same though Michael was the oldest, Elizabeth was the second oldest and then the youngest was Cc who also went by like Noah or Cecil. Instead of Evan or David. The kids were pretty present. Would bother me at work despite my protests of being busy, y'know how kids can be.
Uhhh. Mrs Afton was named Esme Schmidt/Afton. Though she was pretty absent most of the time. Always out at galas and events with other wealthy individuals- she would ignore the kids a lot, which is why they would bother me in the study. She loved fancy clothes and jewelry.

what was it like for you being more of a public figure? i would say i was pretty charismatic and i did know a lot of people, but people knew me more in the "oh yeah that's the guy that owns the diner down the street" kind of way. im intrigued and curious about your experience
and, esme! what a pretty name! my situation was kind of the opposite, i wouldn't consider myself an absent father per se but i definitely spent much more time working than with the kids especially after the business took off. Elizabeth usually watched them at home, or michael would be left in charge. also weird thing i actually have no idea what cc's name was in my canon. I want to say chris but that genuinely jsut might be cause i've referred to him as chris ever since i got into fnaf years ago...
Not as fun as one might think. There was a lot of masking, a lot of putting out an image of what I had to be in the public eye versus what I really was. I wouldn't say I was terribly introverted but a lot of the interactions I had with people felt forced rather than genuine. I was an actor in a sense, I'd rather be somewhere else than with them again.
I also spent a lot of time working. I wouldn't call myself absent either, at least not how Esme was. I did focus on work a lot but to be fair, I was the one making the income while Esme was, spending it at Galas and other fancy events. I did a lot of my work at my own estate in my study so I wasn't terribly far or out of reach if I was needed. Though we did have maids/butlers/assistants around to look after them as well, who mainly took care of the kids when I couldn't be pulled away from work.
i see, that makes sense. i feel like i kinda resonate with the actor part, but in sort of the opposite way. I did enjoy talking to people, like especially customers and stuff, and conversation flowed pretty naturally for me, but i was kinda pretending to be more outgoing than i really was. it got easier over time tho. though it got tiring throughout the day and once in a while i'd have to go disappear into the back rooms or something for a bit to recharge. i Really loved interacting with ppl in the spring bonnie suit tho. That dumb rabbit honestly became an extension of myself at some point, i loved going and putting on this persona (or fursona lolll) i feel like it gave me more confidence
also if i may ask, how did you end up in such a high class/position? like were you born into an already influential/wealthy family, or was the company just super successful, or something else?
So, sort of both born into it and becoming successful later on. My father was an Earl (or count) so we were fairly well off with a bit of influence but not terribly so. Later on, I gained enough success and influence where I was promoted to Dukedom.
