Just a note for the trans woman out there.
Sephora offers a series of makeup classes called “Classes for Confidence”. One of them is titled “Bold Beauty for the Transgender Community.” It’s a makeup basics class.
I went to one of these classes this morning, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. First, you’re surrounded by people from the community. Second, the staff at Sephora are amazing, kind, considerate, knowledgeable and so, so helpful. By the time you get done, you’ll have a working knowledge of skin care, color correction and foundation.
The classes are free, run about 90 minutes, and seem to be offered about once a month. Definitely worth checking out.
Just be careful with your credit card. I swore I wasn’t going to buy anything, and ended up walking away with a ton of product, but damn, I looked fabulous. (Seriously, there is *no* pressure to buy anything. I just have no impulse control when it comes to lipsticks).
Outfit for xmas party at my wife’s restaurant. Finally got a chance to wear the necklace she got me for v-day. 🎄🎄🎄
Am I Hayley Kiyoko yet?

A few relatively recent pics. A bunch of me and my girlfriend out at dinner after Ypsilanti Pride: btw we ARE lesbian for each other . . and trans lesbians ARE valid! Thankyeverymuch!!
Shoutout to:
● Newly professionally diagnosed autistics who are struggling to accept their identity
● Newly self diagnosed autistics who are unsure if they’re valid or not
● Undiagnosed autistics who can’t access services to get a professional diagnosis, or have been misdiagnosed/told they’re not autistic by professionals and want a second opinion
● Non-white autistics who never see themselves represented and experience bias from others because of their race
● LGBTQ+ autistics who are told they’re sexuality is invalid because of their autism, or can’t go to pride because of sensory overload
● Genderqueer autistics who are told their gender identity/expression is invalid because of their autism or struggle to present as their desired gender because of sensory issues
● Female autistics who struggle to get a diagnosis because of the strong male bias, and transwomen who struggle to relate to other girls with autism
You are all wonderful and I’m really proud of you, even if you struggle with being proud of who you are ♥
This always deserves a repost.
Love yourself first.

How to get on hrt through planned parenthood
You don’t need to participate in therapy or provide information from a mental health provider to receive hormone therapy. Planned parenthood runs on the informed consent model.
How to find the right one
1. You can call them! Try saying something like this if you dont know what to say: “Hi, I would like to set up a gender affirming hormone appointment. I live close to *insert town here* what’s the closest Planned Parenthood to me that offers it?”
2. If you can go online, then look up what Planned Parenthood is close to you and look for “LGBT Services” under the “Services Offered” or "Get Care" part of the site. Click that. If they have “Hormone Therapy for Transgender Clients”, congrats! They offer HRT!
3. You can also just go into your local planned parenthood and ask them. They're super nice and helpful!
Phone call
1. if you do call I suggest calling about a week before the appointment time you want, because they put your appointment about a week out after the call, so if there is a specific time you really need keep that in mind.
2. The phone call is simple, and they just asked for basic needed information. They also ask for your preferred name and preferred pronouns :) Don’t worry if you can’t answer everything at the time though because all they're doing is writing things down so there is less paperwork for you to do when you get there. So if you blank on all your insurance information and can’t even remember if you HAVE insurance when they ask, it’s okay, you can fill that out at your appointment.
3. Once you’ve made the call and the appointment, they have a text reminder system. That remind you when your appointment is right away, the day before the appointment, and the day of.
4. You can cancel as close to ON the day of the appointment WITHOUT getting charged. Ask them to make sure if this is an option at your planned parenthood.
The appointment
1. After that, it’s just about getting to the appointment. I suggest trying to get there around 15 min earlier then your appointment as there will be paperwork to fill out.
2. The paperwork is simple, things like name, preferred name, preferred pronouns, any preexisting conditions, insurance information: the basics.
3. At your first visit these are the things that will happen:
• They'll do a urine sample.
• Review your medical history, including your sexual and surgical history and current health practices
• Measure your weight and blood pressure
• Discuss your transition goals
• Draw your blood to watch for potential side effects of hormones (just a finger prick)
• Explain how to take hormones with your preferred method and answer any questions you might have
1. After that you have to simply sign off that you wish to start HRT and sign the information paper. So they give you the information, go over everything, answer questions, confirm you’re healthy enough to go on without complications, and then you sign and get the prescription for your HRT.
After the appointment
1. You go back into the waiting room: you confirm where you want the prescription sent at the front desk, and choose how to pay. NOTE: some may have a thing called the Trans Help Fund where it’s basically “Pay as much as you feel comfortable and the money from this fund will pay for the rest.” ask if they have that!
2. Once you have paid (you might not even have to pay) you’re gonna be told to come in 3 months later to see how you’re doing. You’re given a 3 month supply of hormones too so you’re gonna need to come in in 3 months anyway for that as planned parenthood doesnt allow you to refill your prescription over the phone, you have to do it in person.
3. Go pick up your prescription!
Good luck and have fun!
5 Things people won’t tell you about transitioning (MTF)
1. The migraines will stop!!
My doctor didn’t tell me that I’d have migraines—that they were related to electrolytes and that I should increase them, specifically salt, and stay super hydrated—so she obviously didn’t tell me these burning, hot headaches would go away after a month (ice packs on your head help along with wearing sunglasses). I’m pretty sure my body was rewiring itself to use estrogen instead of testosterone ?? … or to operate with less liquid since the Spiro/T blocker is a diuretic
2. You will have a monthly cycle …
My doctor told me that, as much as dudes like to complain about how chicks have their period, everyone has a cycle. As a girl though, it has all felt stronger. While it’s mostly nice, since I feel a lot more in tune with my body, some days I realize that, for no particular reason, I just am pissed and everything and everyone lol
3. You will forget what you look like
I often do double takes when I see my reflection in a mirror, since my body and my face is changing so fast. Some days I’m pleasantly surprised by how feminine my face is; other times I’m just frustrated by how far I am from what I want to be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
4. Electrolysis is better than laser, but it takes forever!!!
Apparently laser is just hair reduction/not permanent. Electrolysis is permanent, but, each time they zap your hairs, only a very small portion of them are super vulnerable/in the growth phase/won’t grow back. So you are basically playing roulette until they are all deads (✖╭╮✖)
5. You’ll be zippy xD
I don’t know whether it’s the drugs or if it’s just the fact that I’m FINALLY allowing my body to be the right way, but most of the time I will jump around the house and say silly nonsensical things to my girlfriend. I don’t remember feeling this happy before transitioning.
