“i have wine and tissues. that’s about it. though, i’m sure i could find some coffee.” addison said standing up from her desk and looking at the other red head. “what on earth are you doing in seattle, nancy? aren’t you suppose to be half way across the country in new york?” 

“Wine is good, wine is very good.” She shrugged a little at Addison’s question, “I wanted a change of scenery and it appears that Seattle is the place to be. So here I am.”

“i don’t have any but i’m sure i can go pick some up from somewhere.” esmé nodded after turfing out her bag had become unsuccessful. “are you okay though? i get that we’re doctors but if you’re not feeling well, maybe i can do you a chamomile tea or something to help take the edge off before you start?”

“No no it’s okay, I’ll be okay after a little while, I just need to unclog a little.” She appreciated the gesture. “I think I just genuinely need to get on with my day and I’ll be okay.” She really did believe it and knew that if she just got on with her day she’d soon forget that she’d been feeling unwell to begin with.

   “don’t take this in the wrong way…” jill started, putting her hands up in surrender. “but you really don’t look like you should be here.” doctors were the worst when it came to being ill but the other wasn’t going to do anyone any good by being here.

“All due respect, but I know my limits and I know that I am fine to be here.” Nancy shrugged a little. “Thank you for your concern though.” It was a little sarcastic but she really was okay. She just needed a strong coffee in her system.

“you should try a banana bag. it’s not immediate relief, but it makes you feel better throughout the day,” trixie said. “literally — save teeny tiny little lives every day,” she said with a small smile. 

“I think I might actually have to do that, it sounds like I need some more fluids in my system.” She laughed a little and let the smile stay on her face. “I’m Nancy, Nancy Shepherd.” She held out a hand for the younger girl but retracted it as she thought about how people didn’t really appreciate touching sick people.

As he gets glimpse of her ID, he nods. Of course, they all moved into Seattle. The reason? Still unknown. “Wow, you’re all staying!” He wishes he sounded more excited as he truly was but after meeting a particular middle child, he wasn’t so sure it was a good idea. Nevertheless, he gives out a smile. “We sure need you if we’re having to deal with hurricane Amelia and Regina George sharing the same practice.” He gets closer to her, throws a arm around her shoulders and squeezes a little. “I’m really glad you’re here, Nance.”

“It would certainly look that way, even mom has turned up...” Nancy grinned and tilted her head slightly, she certainly seemed to be the most put together of the girls in her family. It would be interesting to see if everyone actually lasted around each other in Seattle. “I’m glad I’m here too, it’s definitely a big change but it’s growing on me.”

“I’m just saying that phone call would have been nice. It’s embarrassing that mom has to tell me everything,” Kathleen had told herself she wasn’t hurt, she’d gotten used to being the odd one out years ago - and yet it still had the ability to sting even now. She rolled her eyes, shooting Nancy a look that conveyed all her scepticism, “Am I really supposed to believe this was all one big coincidence? Lizzie already tried that.” She was trying not to act like a petulant child, holding back her foot stomping and frustrated huffs, but her nails were starting to bite into her palms with the will it took to hold back. She took a calming breath through her nose, reminding herself that she was an adult and it didn’t matter that her older sister had left her out - again - she would behave like one. “So if you’re not here to take part in some conspiracy theory, why are you here?“

‘ it was definitely a coincidence, i haven’t even spoken to lizzie in the last few weeks. i wanted a change of scenery and then I was offered a job here — why wouldn’t i take it? ’ nancy tried  to offer a smile but the frustration she was feeling was written all over her face. ‘ I don’t need this, this was supposed to be a good day, not a pity Kathleen day. ’ the harsh words left her mouth before she could even stop them.

Still processing the fact that Nancy was there, Lizzie held the pastry in her mouth as she hugged her sister back, still not sure what to make of the fact that she was in front of her, hugging her. “Breakfast. Kathleen’s here too and our reunion this morning made me crave a truck load of carbs–” she started to explain before she took the pastry out of her mouth and laughed at herself “Sorry, duh. You mean Seattle? I’m working here. I took the head of fetal surgery job. Hey, better question! What are you doing here?” 

‘ that’s amazing liz, you’re amazing! ’ nancy paused to cough  for a moment before continuing. ‘ the chief must’ve known how great us shepherd ladies are and i was offered a job,  so i thought why not go for it. ’ she leant up against wall,  she couldn’t help but smile as she looked at her sister, she had always been her favourite.
