ok, so every once in a while i force myself to sit through an episode of teen mom or 16 & pregnant. i tend to steer away from these types of shows because i don't think they're positive AT ALL. i always want to watch fresh prince, living single, a different world, or the cosby show. those shows are so positive and they have good messages. it just makes me upset that there is nothing on t.v. telling girls more about sex. we get bombarded with these shows about pregnancy, and some sitcoms touch on sex....but it's just never enough. i think i'm going to start doing research on sex education and where it starts. there was that show on mtv called "SAVAGE U", what happened to it?!!!! that was like the best fucking concept ever! but i think those things he was talking about would be perfect for high schoolers to hear too. waiting to have those convos about love, sex, RESPECT, and safety in COLLEGE is TOO DAMN LATE. my little brother is 16 and he is sexually active, and he could damn sure use a lecture about wrapping it up.
at my old high school they offer two choices for "sex ed"/health, regular and abstinence only. i grew up in a christian family, so guess which one i had to take. DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE? why are parents scared of sex? i feel like if more people had open dialouges about sex, then we wouldn't have as much confusion. kids are starting to have sex in middle school, and our society waits until college to talk openly about everything that goes with it -___-
