eee, 2024–26 in Fill’d Them, Emptied Them presented by Shisanwu at Sheerly Touch-Ya Warehouse curated by Isabella Achenbach. May 31–June 28th.
These mechanic’s rags, previously in a reverberating cycle of soiling and washing until their eventual disintegration by way of the laborers hand and friction of the washing drum, have been lifted from a uniform and facilities servicer. Before compression the grimy red rags showed unique marks of solubility between oil, dirt, and chemicals under the workers hand and even skin. A unit of labor. Treated with starch, as primped uniforms would, the rags are press cast under the pressure of my own hands into a spherical shape and dry out in tea sachets. I too have figured out how to reduce labor into airless forms.
