i've been busy with lots of things but i started to miss gay robots. they mean so much to me. i cried holding tfp optimus in my arms the other day.

i don't have much to present this time around so here's an old old comic that i drafted up when i was reading exiles. inspired by that one line where optimus said megatron never believed in them co-leading cybertron together. that it was a joke. in here i also wanted to show how as much as orion wants to be loved, the reason he loves megatronus is the same reason why they can't work together. they are characters that have strong convictions and pride and i think it is for these reasons that they find each other fascinating and admirable but also why their fallout was something that was inevitable.

i do like to imagine that orion had tried desperately to reach out to megatronus after their fallout in the trial. as angry as he was in the moment, they were supposed to be leading together. after all, that has always been the plan in orion's mind even with their disagreements and even if megatronus did not share the same sentiment. i don't think this desperation lasts very long though, he has lives to worry about now, and they rely on him now. him alone.

some related doodles with thinking about how orion helps out megatronus when it comes to writing things like his speeches and manifestos..

i like to think that despite the whole robots and use of datapads and keyboards and stuff, orion still likes to scribble and write in the margins of things like poems and novels. he works with lots of data all the time, cataloguing, organizing, etc. thinking of those as always typed out for efficiency's sake because to him, even if he is earnest and passionate about it, it is still something he considers as work first and foremost. for things he is more personally invested in and values, he chooses to scribble in between those margins. words and symbols personalized for the text.

his diligence and thoroughness with each detail and comment is something born out of a deep love, care and respect for megatronus' work as well as what he fights for.

thinking about megatron hearing mostly criticisms from orion's initial reads but when he goes over to look at /all/ of the annotations theres actually a lot of comments that goes over a lot of how much orion agrees with him, is enlightened and greatly admires his work.

tfp/exodus megop with ikanaide there wasn't much thought put into this compared to my other videos but i was also just using this song because i thought it suited them and help me get back into drawing robots. i think despite this being mostly megatron's pov it matches well for the both of them :))

this animatic inspired by chapter 15 of tf: exodus involving "My Goodbye" from EPIC the Musical i must confess, looking back at this animatic now there is a lot of diverging from the actual events of the book but this was more or less practice for me as well as an exploration of the emotions that were present here. (i'll have something else more accurate to chapter 15 of transformers exodus another day when i actually finish the boards for it!)

My Goodbye is a terribly dramatic falling out song between Odysseus and Athena and though it was hard for me to picture these two with the rest of the song (especially with Orion as Ody! he wouldn't call Megatron alone when he himself is more alone than Megatron) I thought that this particular segment was perfect for them:))

"one day, you'll hear what i'm saying / one day, you might understand." an accusation on orion's naivete and though looking back, i am aware that megatron was more or less thinking that orion was scheming against him, i think that these lines could still definitely apply to him because after all. orion doesn't even understand what he's done for megatronus to be so angry even though he sees what he's done as trying to help the cause that they both fight for.

these two frames are probably my two favorite frames from this animatic with the progression of orion's hesitance (and perhaps even anticipation) turning into fear as megatronus shadows over him. very much charged by that one segment in the book where orion turns back to megatron expecting approbation only to be met with megatron's anger.

the line "just a man" gritted through teeth and growled to orion's audial; it is something that's said to orion personally rather than shouted in anger like the rest of these words. probably the frame i like most next to the other two.

orion is looking towards megatronus, towards him /leaving/ and megatronus has his back turned from orion. this is his goodbye and he is not looking back.

orion's one day on Nemesis

a small comic on the events of transformers exodus: chapter 15! this is mainly on the focus of orion's pov at his realization that megatron is no longer on his side.

this follow up comic is now from megatronus' pov; explains more his thought process leading up to the conclusion that orion had betrayed him. the lines from the first page are lines from chapter 10. the passage describes his tone as "contemplative" and to me that speaks of him indirectly voicing out his doubts of orion and suspecting that there is something more to orion than his desire to help megatron and bring change to cybertron. more to orion than the cause they both fight for. there isn't. he is wrong in his assumptions of orion and i try to show that in the second page with orion's awaiting look at megatronus. he wants approbation and he thought that he did what he could to help the cause by trying to appease the council. but megatronus' thoughts have swerved over to the conclusion that orion has betrayed him and he had always planned for this to happen. of course other factors do come into play with this (i.e. the high council themselves adding fuel to megatronus' rage and their overall dismissal of him during the trial + orion's speech being. mm. very appeasing to the council despite his anger, but that is a discussion for another day.) but i wanted to really bring focus to that underlying sense of doubt between the two of them that really become the root cause for their fallout; showing the real reason for their connection inevitably breaking despite sharing the same cause.

a comic on megatron after the events of transformers prime: predacons rising. for some bonus overthinking notes on this comic: "feel less than know" infers on how megatron doesn't look back at the sparks exploding in the back or what happens at the well of allsparks to confirm optimus' death; he just feels it. feels that optimus is gone. and he doesn't go back to confirm it ("I will not look for traces of you.")

the roads no longer remember their history because cybertron is in absolute ruins as a result of their civil war, only they remember their shared history because everything that resembled or had traces of the history be it in the old places they visited or buildings, has been completely destroyed. and only megatron is left to retrace them and reminisce but he states that he doesn't want optimus by his side. if he truly doesn't or is trying to lie to himself can be up to interpretation. the last panel has megatron finally out of bounds of the panels themselves; he is free because for once he doesn't long for optimus in choosing to mourn him. because for the longest time megatron has always been driven by this sense of chasing optimus.

i personally do interpret this ending as a hopeful and optimistic one for megatron, but of course you can take it in however you'd like and tell me about it^^ this is just my own take on megatron's feelings post-predacons rising; particularly with not only the last of his feelings being obsessed with optimus that had driven him but also other things that had controlled him. the council. unicron. he is no longer shackled by them, for once he isn't fighting against anything and he's all on his own.
