Got him.
“Yeah, that! Responsibility! That’s what Seofon would want if he were here! I mean, if he were standing right here next to us. Did you see him yet? It’s really lucky that so many of us Eternals ended up in the same place…”
As long as they found some reason to keep fighting, she should be able to keep Seox around for a little bit, Threo thought. Normally she wouldn’t concern herself with it too much; maybe being separated from the others made her a little lonely? She’d been the same way with Tweyen and Seofon as well.
“Why would I go back? I only ever go forward, Seox. And I don’t lie, either! That’s too much work!” she said, stepping towards one of the fallen men. Seox was right to think there was probably more people to find and fight nearby, but Threo didn’t want to waste time on fodder like this. Better to get right to the heart of the matter, she thought, lifting one of the men by the collar. She brought him close, taking a deep whiff of the smells that drifted off him. Cigar smoke, alcohol, some kind of oil, wet ink, sweat, blood…
“Alright! Let’s go fight some people! And help some people too, I guess!” she said, dropping the man to the ground. It was easy enough to follow the scent deeper into the back alleys, and Threo wondered if they might run into some other thugs for a warm-up.
His perpetual frown deepens for a moment in annoyance at the mention of their leader. Pushing away the horrifying image of their meeting at the festival, he responds to Threo’s question with a terse, “Yes... unfortunately.”
And with a small amount of effort, he manages to keep himself from commenting on Threo’s special brand of ignorance as she takes his words literally - having dealt with it on more than one occasion has made ignoring it easier than it should be. Instead of replying, he simply follows the other Eternal’s lead, steps light and silent.
Hopefully, the draph will get her fill of violence quickly enough so they can go their separate ways - though Seox isn’t keeping his hopes up; the draph’s need for a good fight is almost insatiable, and who knows how long it’ll take, how many mediocre fights they’ll need to get into before her need is satisfied?
Trekking behind his companion, he gives off an almost sulking air; it’s not that he dislikes the other, but more so that he simply does not have the emotional capacity to keep up with her. The draph is too bright (not intellectually), too energetic, too loud - and for Seox, it’s too much to deal with for any extended period of time. So, as a principal, he tries to avoid big personalities like her to spare himself the social fatigue.
Of course, even as he’s busy brooding, he doesn’t ever let his guard down. His ears twitch as they catch what sounds like multiple pairs of footsteps when they round into the next alley; immediately, his eyes snap from the dingy walls around them to the draph in front of him, almost certain that she too, is on alert - for all her faults, Threo is an Eternal for a reason.
“If the cleaning bill gets higher because of additional stains, you’re still paying for it,” he says, fists tensing in anticipation for the potential fight ahead.
