INTRODUCING MIRIAM WEXLER. A HUMAN FROM ECHO CREEK.

Miriam has always been a free spirit. She walked to the beat of her own drum and didn’t care about others’ opinions. She thought she was pretty cool and so did her group of friends. Mei, Priya, and Abby were the best of friends and Miriam was sort of their unspoken leader. Together they felt like they could truly accomplish anything.

School was difficult and her grades were not the worst, but somewhat average. But the most difficult part was bullies. They were more of a nuisance than anything but Miriam and her friends often got picked on for silly things. It was when they would bully her friends Miriam would get upset. She would fully get angry when people messed with her friends and she wasn’t afraid to throw a punch every now and then. She wasn’t a hothead or anything, but believed in defending those she loved. With that being said, she’s an incredibly loyal person and would do anything for her friends.

Middle school was a weird time. The girls were all fangirling over boybands or obsessing over Tamagotchi’s and then along came Mei’s panda thing. Miriam thought the panda was pretty awesome after the shock of hearing their friend’s voice coming from a giant red panda wore off. But, when they began exploiting the panda Miriam was on board. Then towards the end it got to be a lot and Miriam knew they shouldn’t be doing what the group of girls were. It all ended up alright at least.

4*TOWN was her first love. She was obsessed with the band just like her friends. Aaron T was her favorite, and sure he was cute and all but Miriam knew the love she had for him was not the same as her friends.

It wasn’t until high school that things started to click in her mind. She didn’t like boys at all. It wasn’t because they were gross and annoying, but that sure did contribute. She was only a freshman when she realized she liked girls. She thought maybe she was bisexual and tried dating a boy once but it only lasted a few weeks. She felt wrong kissing him and after she dumped him she told him it was because her parents said she was too young to date. That clearly wasn’t the truth though.

She didn’t tell anyone she was a lesbian until junior year. She came out to her friends first and they fully supported her but it didn’t make things any easier. She still had to face her parents. At first her parents blew it off as a phase but when the phase didn’t pass they eventually came around and accepted her in their own way. It was still tough on Miriam, but she was strong and knew they loved her still.

After high school her parents pushed for Miriam to go to college. She didn’t want to do that though, she wanted to skateboard and have fun. She went for a year, mostly partied, then dropped out. She wasn’t a fan of school when she was legally required to go and she wasn’t a fan of it when she had to pay for it especially. Her parents were pretty furious at first but they told Miriam it was her life and she needed to make her own choices.

So, she did. She got a job at a skate shop and fell in love with it. She had loved skateboarding her whole life and to work with the things she loved was awesome. Plus, her coworkers were all pretty cool too.

It wasn’t much of a shock when she started smoking weed. It sort of went with her whole style and life choices. She knew the girls wouldn’t be super into that so she didn’t really bring it up that often. Her friends she made through the skate shop were who got her into it. Honestly though, she likes it more than to just be high and relax. It keeps her calm and sometimes she needs to just chill the fuck out. Miriam knows she can be a bit obnoxious at times.

Definitely vapes. She tried it just because her friend from work had one and it smelled good. She’s not super obnoxious about any of her smoking habits though.

She’s kind of a messy person and often leaving her things out because she will clean them up ‘later.’ Later seldom happens and soon her place is a mess and she has to clean for hours. She’s not a dirty person, just messy! Though her collection of water bottles in her room says differently.

Really really really reaaaally wants a dog so bad. She would take it to the park and give it all the belly rubs in the world! Honestly, she would settle on a cat at this point. She just wants a furry companion.

Has a lot of plants. For the most part they’re all alive. She’s actually pretty good at keeping them alive and watered and in the proper lighting. She names all of her plant babies and her favorite was a small, dying cactus she found at a plant shop. She nursed it back to health. It’s name is Zezo because she thought that sounded cool. :)

Her full name is technically Miriam Wexler-Mendelsohn, but when her parents divorced she dropped it to just Wexler.

Most of the time she is just vibing, hanging with friends, or skateboarding. She takes life one day at a time but wants to achieve her goals, she’s just not quite sure what those are yet. For now she just lives in her apartment, works, and has fun!

"I'm drunk in the back of the car."

“Girl, you act like you’re the only one.” Miriam stifled a laugh as, she too, was drunk in the back of the car. She was sat beside Rosie in the middle seat and leaned against her as the ride back was making her head feel dizzy. “I think we both had a few too many cherry bombs tonight.” She couldn’t help the laugh that slipped from her lips that time, though it was more like a schoolgirl giggling than anything. Miriam had her eyes closed for a moment but the longer she kept them shut the dizzier she got. She slowly opened them back up, the street lights felt almost blinding, then looked up at Rosie. “Are we almost there yet?” she asked with a goofy grin. “Because, like, I just can’t wait to show you my place. And get a snack. Definitely a snack, yeah.”

Miriam stared at Shaggy for a long moment before bursting into a fit of laughter. She laughed so hard she leaned forward and clutched her stomach. “What the hell, dude?” she finally asked after she began to catch her breath. “How the fuck would I know? Do you think I’m raking in dollars and getting bitches and models? More like none of the above, my dude.” She let out another, much less obnoxious laugh before shaking her head. “I will say though, if I was I might brag just a liiiittle bit,” she said holding up her fingers with a small space between them. “What would you do? I mean, that’s already like half true for you isn’t it?”

Isabella felt pretty out of place. She was all for a good party, but the large crowds made her nervous. She’d rather spend the evening hanging out with her close friends. The drink she had took the edge off, but she’d also prefer a cup of wine and a nice hot bath. She didn’t realize she was zoning out a bit until she met the other girl’s eyes, her cheeks immediately growing warm. “I’m so sorry I was staring, you’re just so pretty!” She attempted to explain, probably making an even bigger fool of herself.

Miriam hadn’t expected to find herself at the New Year’s event, but her friends either had to work the holiday or had plans with their families. She figured she’d give it a shot and if midnight rolled around and she was bored she’d dip and find a better party somewhere else. She’d had a fair few amount of drinks and was definitely feeling it by now. She hadn’t been paying attention to her surroundings as she waited for her next drink the bartender was making. “Huh?” she asked, snapping out of her trance and catching the other girl’s gaze. “Oh my god, like, stop. That’s so sweet of you.” Miriam could feel her cheeks grow warm, but she would just blame that on the alcohol. “You’re, like, super pretty too. For the record.” She smirked a little bit. Maybe this night wouldn’t be such a drag anyways. Miriam couldn’t help but feel a familiarity towards this girl though. For a moment she stared and when it clicked she glanced slightly down. “Um, this might be weird but are you friends with Fawn by chance? And Rosie? I know them.” Miriam looked back up slightly. “They’re cool as hell, so I’m assuming any other of their friends are too.”

Wendy and Miriam have always vibed together. The other was a few years older, but Miriam didn’t really think that mattered. They were cool as fuck regardless. Currently the two were at Miriam’s apartment but she was growing antsy. They’d been playing a game but she paused it to take a break. “I, like, totally need a break. What about you?” she asked before hitting her dab pen. After exhaling and coughing a few times she held it out to offer it to Wendy. “Do you wanna do something else or go somewhere? I’m growing a bit restless and need to do something else is all.” She let out a small laugh. “Totally up to you though, dude. I’m down for whatever as long as it’s not a third round of Mario Party.”

Miriam often times found herself in places she hadn’t been before. She liked to try new things and explore places in the surrounding towns. She knew Echo Creek like the back of her hand and had ventured into Amity Park that day. She had yet to go to one of the newer towns yet but, truth be told, she was a little nervous to go alone. She could easily have asked a friend to go, but work often had gotten in the way. Today she was just chilling with herself though and was at the mall, waiting in line at the smoothie place in the food court. The place was insanely busy that day and after Miriam had gotten her drink she had trouble finding a place to sit. People were probably out spending any holiday gift cards or cash they received, Miriam assumed. She spotted a two person table and was about to head towards it when she saw a girl sit there alone. Sighing, she glanced around once more before deciding to approach the girl. “Excuse me, but like, would you care if I sat here. I just wanted to chill while I drank my smoothie and there’s other tables open.”

it was one of those rare days in which nolan didn’t have much going on, no real plans, and he was on his way to get a coffee. he heard a whining in the distance, being a curious person by nature, he followed the sound. now he wish he kinda hadn’t because he was stuck with an animal in his arms. although nolan could’ve just walked away, he also could never do that, plus, part of him honestly wanted this to be a stray he could take home. he was sure his roommates wouldn’t mind, but he still had to do his part to try and find their owner. ‘hey, is this yours? i found them crying and now every time i try to put them down… they cry. not in pain, but more in a whininess like they are either missing their home.”

Miriam was in the mood for a cinnamon hot cocoa. The weather was cold, but not unbearable. She’d thought to herself that it was a perfect little after work pick-me-up. So, after she was finished with her shift she made her way across the street to where the coffee shop she normally went to was when someone approached her. She looked at the small critter in the other’s arms and frowned. “Oh no,” she said in a sorrowful tone. “Poor little critter. I’m afraid they’re not mine.” Miriam’s heart was melting at the sight of the little guy in his arms. “They look to be really young too. We have to get them somewhere warm!” Miriam all but ripped her jacket off and held it in their arms so the boy could place it in the jacket and she could wrap it up tight. “This should help for now. We’ve got to get inside somewhere so they stay warm.”

“So, you’re telling me you’ve never tried deep fried pickles?” Miriam asked, astounded that Shaggy of all people hadn’t tried such an amazing food. “Dude, you’ve like gotta try them. I know this place. They have the best ones. They’re full spears and not just the little slices.” Just thinking of them made Miriam’s mouth water. “Like, imagine getting baked and just indulging in fried pickles. Like, does that not sound amazing to you?” She laughed softly. “Let me treat you to some. You won’t regret it, I promise.”

Fred wasn’t sure what they were doing, if he was honest. He’d been waiting for the edible to kick in and it hit the second Miriam started talking. Instead of asking questions he just nodded, following her lead. Once she handed over the binoculars to him he held them up to his eyes and stared out at the scene in front of them. The only problem was that he had absolutely no idea what he was looking for. That’s when the paying attention earlier might have come into play. “Wait, what should I be looking for here? Is it the squirrel in the tree? He’s on acorn number three, I don’t know how he’s going to fit another in there.”

Miriam loved hanging out with Fred. It was always a good time and she knew there would always be free weed. Not that she was trying to take advantage of that or anything but Fred was always so willing to share. As a return though she got some edibles and shared them with him. She wasn’t quite sure when it kicked in but all she knew was that they were somewhere in the woods with a pair of binoculars, looking at a squirrel. Miriam had been in the middle of saying that she hoped they weren’t lost because she wasn’t sure which direction she had been walking in for a while. “You should be looking around to retrace our steps,” she said. “I have, like, no idea where to start though because everything is green.”

“Some people feed on negativity,” he commented with a shake of the head, it was disappointing. He would never understand the need to bring others down. Even if he knew he accidentally upset someone, he’d dwell on it for months. “Oh, yeah, I definitely got the better end of the deal. They’re making me look great. Kind of surprised whoever it is even knows I exist.” Shaggy half laughed, half coughed. “You’d probably save money buying the weed,” he joked, knowing what a bottomless pit he could be.

“Not me, man. It’s good vibes only here. People can take their toxic shit elsewhere.” Miriam was a very relaxed person but she wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed in or for her friends. “Whoever it is they must be your number one fan. Or maybe they’re one of your secret admirers,” she teased. Miriam rose an eyebrow at his comment. “Oh, come one. It can’t be that bad. I’m sure Scoob would love a snack too.”

“That’s how we know they’re full of shit, Miriam. Gossip Girl is full of shit!” With not one, but two posts now about how all these women were lusting after him, Shaggy had decided to completely discredit their sources. If whoever was behind the blog lied so freely about him, he felt it was a safe to assume their slander was completely made up as well. He was a nice guy, he had no problem making friends with women, but the idea of even one person being heart eyes over him? He laughed alongside her. “Not wrong about the weed though, so maybe it’s a mixed bag.” Releasing a lungful of smoke with a cough, he offered the joint back to her. “Like, you can always just mooch off of my supply, but if you want to make a purchase, I won’t stop you.”

“So full of shit, dude. Like what’s the point?” Miriam didn’t quite get the whole thing, but thankfully she wasn’t involved in it all. “I mean at least you’re being flaunted as a nice bachelor who can pull bitches,” she joked. “And for having the best weed in town? Can’t complain about people thinking that!” Miriam took the joint back and took a hit, coughing a bit as she exhaled. “Dude, are you sure? That’s, like, super generous. You have to at least let me supply our late night munchies tonight. Whatever you want!”

Miriam enjoyed her time with Willow. They had roasted marshmallows at the bonfire and to Miriam that meant a lot. The friends she’d had since she was a kid all seemed busy with their own agendas lately so she was spending time with new friends. Nothing wrong with that! Upon spotting the blonde while Miriam was out running errands she ran up to her and wrapped her arms around the blonde from behind. “Willow!” she all but screeched in her ear. “I haven’t seen you since the bonfire. Did you get that meme I sent you about the rabbit and the duck? It was, like, so cute. Right?” She let out a laugh and let her friend go. “What are you doing out and about today? I just dropped groceries off at my apartment. I know it’s, like, so boring. Had to be done though. I was running low on snacks and my milk expired last week,” she explained. “Do you want to hang out if you’re not busy? I could use the company!”

“So, like, what’s this I hear about you being the new ‘bachelor in paradise?’“ Miriam could barely get the words out before she bellowed out a loud laugh. “Aside from that though I hear you have the best weed in town. I’m not going to deny that. You grow it yourself, right?” she asked before taking another hit of the blunt and passing it back to him. “As always thank you for sharing.” She exhaled the smoke upwards into the air, watching the waves of smoke blow away into nothingness. She felt the high starting to settle in and let out a content sigh. “I would offer to match you one day but I fear my supply is nowhere near as great as this. The offer stands though.” Smoking in the park after dark might not have been the best idea, but hey! They weren’t full of bright ideas! “So, let’s talk business.” She crossed her legs and let out a giggle. “You willing to sell to me?”

“Damn, caught me green handed.” Shaggy grinned when she did, feeling much better about the situation knowing her reaction wasn’t negative. He didn’t consider smoking in public to be doing anything wrong, but everyone didn’t think like him, and he didn’t want to get kicked out or scolded tonight. He especially didn’t want to get scolded. “Thanks, I grew it myself,” he laughed, taking another long draw when she passed it back. “Shaggy. And Scoob,” he gestured to his dog, never able to leave him out of a introduction. It was only fair. Where you found one, you’d find the other. “Scoobert-‘Scooby’-Doo Junior, that is. Him. Not me.”

“Green handed?” she asked with a laugh. At events like these there were always bound to be plenty of people openly smoking, so Miriam didn’t really care if people saw her smoking or not. “Holy shit, you grew it? That’s sick as hell, dude. I have plants but, like, I could never do that. And not all of them are in good shape. Most of them! Just not all.” When he gestured down to the dog Miriam smiled brightly. “Oh my gosh. I love him. Can I pet him?” she asked. “It’s very nice to meet you, Scoob.” She looked back up at him. “And you too, of course,” she said with a light laugh.

The edible had been a good start, but Shaggy had a high tolerance, and he found it a lot harder to enjoy any social events sober. Impossible, even. If he had to deal with the bonfire sober, he’d have already left. Alcohol was readily available, but not his crutch. Thinking he was being sneaky by the fire, he let out a cloud of smoke before turning to meet a pair of eyes. “It’s, uh, not what it looks like,” he said immediately. Though he recognized her from the night in the park, and could swear she had a faint air of weed about her then. Or was that him? Lowering his voice, he hesitantly held out the freshly lit joint. “… unless you want a hit.”

Miriam was vibing by the fire, hitting her vape, while she swayed a little bit to the music playing. She didn’t really notice the extra cloud of smoke being blown around until she could smell the difference. She turned to the guy standing next to him and recognized him immediately. “Dude, it’s, like, totally what it looks like.” She let out a laugh then grinned at him before taking the joint from him. “Don’t mind if I do.” Miriam had barely smoked her own weed that night because people kept offering her theirs. After a few seconds of inhaling she handed it back to the guy. She exhaled the smoke, only coughing once, then nodded her head. “Good shit, man. Thanks. What’s your name though? I’m Miriam.”

With so much already going on around the beach, it was a wonder Willow was spotted at all. There was music, dancing, drinking, laughter, it was a cacophony of good vibes and saying goodbye to the summertime. She blended in perfectly, in her cute pink one-piece, lavender heart-shaped sunglasses and matching sandals sitting in a pile at her feet, keeping her pink and white-striped towel anchored so it wouldn’t fly off on a rogue breeze. Others were gathered around one of the many bonfires as well, many of them with someone, a few of them, like her, alone; everyone getting ready to start roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. A number of two-pronged skewers had been passed around, eventually coming to her, and just as she looked up, she caught sight of a familiar face not too far away.

“ Oh ! Hey ! ” she called to them, waving with her free hand, taking the marshmallow roasting sticks in the other. “ Are you staying to roast marshmallows ? ” It was as much a question as it was an invitation, a hope that they could hang out for a little bit and catch up. With everything that had been going on the past few weeks - all of the fun she’d gotten into with friends, making new ones, figuring out her feelings for people and things - she felt like she hadn’t seen them in a lifetime. “ You can sit with me, if you’d like. Plenty of room on the towel. ” She truly didn’t mind sharing, and adding something sweet like marshmallows and chocolate to the mix was the perfect way to watch the sun set before the concert began.

Miriam was having a blast at the bonfire. She danced, sang karaoke, went and dove into the snack bar, and even had a drink or two. She was looking for a spot at the bonfire but couldn’t seem to find one. She circled a few of the fires and felt defeated until she heard a familiar voice calling to her. Miriam turned around and spotted Willow. With a smile the girl approached the other. “Hey. It’s, like, so good to see you. There were literally no spots left to sit.” Miriam took a seat next to her and let out a content sigh. She was glad to just sit and relax for a little bit.

“Oh, I’m totally down for roasting marshmallows!” The girl looked from side to side to see if any of the people roasting marshmallows were nearly finished but luckily for her she was handed a skewer after turning her head to look at the person beside her. “Alright, give me two marshmallows, please,” she said to Willow with a smile. “I’m going to make mine, like, super gooey.”
