so the tumblr ask formatting thing isn’t a glitch. someone i know got in touch with tumblr support and was basically told that staff intentionally got rid of all formatting options on asks, so if you have a problem with it, you should definitely contact support to complain ( because they did say that they want user feedback, even if i think that’s a load of bullshit ). personally i’ll be mentioning that it’s completely ridiculous, because people who don’t want formatted ask replies aren’t the ones doing the formatting - it’s the people who WANT it that are doing it, so getting rid of it is just alienating people. but uh. yeah. idk. in case people still thought it was a glitch, just thought you should know

jotunheim is slightly larger than earth! (abt 1.58 earth masses!!!)

it has two main continents, a few smaller ones, and lots of islands!

on land it is mostly comprised of mountains (volcanic and regular), forests/taigas, and tundras!

the equator is the warmest part of the planet ofc but that really just means temperate rainforests!! think the pacific northwest.

the tropics region is small on jotunheim, whereas the polar regions are much larger.

thundersnow, while a relatively uncommon weather phenomenon on earth, is actually much more common on jotunheim!! esp in the areas where there are large lakes. it is also associated with more mountains regions.

there are a whole load of animals all over jotunheim. they are based (for my sanity) on animals from earth. that giant monster thing from the thor movie? probably a special magical monster and not at all a normal animal you see on the planet. jotunheim is very much based on scandinavia since that’s where the myth comes from.

it is not a barren wasteland!! yes, there are cold deserts! these occur mostly in the southern hemisphere. they are not sandy deserts. they are cold deserts, meaning ice and snow and glaciers.

the average temperature of jotunheim year-round is 38°F / 3.3°C. bc of jotunheims orbit around its star, winter occurs when it is physically furthest from the star (aphelion) and summer when it is physically closest to the star (perihelion). it’s axial tilt isnt that different from earth’s (earth’s is 23.4 whereas jotunheim is 15.6). its seasons arent that different from earth’s in terms of severity.

liquid water exists on the surface of jotunheim! during winter, however, the top layer of rivers and lakes and even parts of the ocean freezes, given that the temperatures at night can easily plummet into the -100s°F.
