completed weaving of the penelope skyphos from chiusi:
the header is tablet-woven linen, with the linen weft for the band used as the warp for the rest of the piece on a warp-weighted loom, which you can see in the photos below (there is also a previous post with more process photos here). the reverse is a negative mirror image of the front, since I wove this as double-weave pickup rather than tapestry:

My defeatist nature can be traced back to when I was playing Namco Museum Collection on my psp at 8 years old and getting whooped by early '80s coinmuncher arcade games.
The other half of the Lingjihun/Metytoyz Turtles have arrived! Everyone's favorite bickering bash bros, Raphael and Raphael! Hopefully this post will come out a bit shorter than the last one.
Everything I said about the Mike and Don apply here. The options are insane. One thing I'm thankful they made optional was Raph's head covering. Never been a big fan of the full cowl for any of the Turtles. I don't know how you can make a Turtle look more bald, but the full bandanna manages. Still, great inclusion for anyone who prefers that look! I also really love the weapon effects, they really help sell motion for poses. Another option I love is being able to display Leo either with his scabbards strapped to his back crossed or side by side. Great stuff!
I also forgot to mention it in the last post, but all four come with cloth trenchcoats, black pants, and plastic fedoras with magnets in them. They're decent enough quality, though I don't see myself ever using them except with Raph. He's just the Turtle I most associate with the look thanks to the first film. I also wish they had pockets. Bit of a bummer they don't.
Let's talk negatives. Now that I've had some time to sit with these guys, I've noticed that the paint wash on the plastrons, belts, and pads is prone to scratching/peeling. Not the paint itself, just the wash. The painted on buckles and other metal bits remain just fine. Perhaps they were packaged before the wash settled or maybe the soft plastic simply didn't absorb it properly. While I haven't heard widespread reports of this happening, most people simply aren't insane enough to handle "collectibles" meant for shelf display quite as frequently as I do. To most people, these are pose 'em once and then put them on a shelf forever. I have heard enough say these can leave your hands with a bit of a dry, slightly tacky feeling after posing sessions and I can confirm that's indeed the case. I have a feeling the wash has something to do with it.
With a brown pour Gundam marker and some wiping, you can get a wash going that's a decent color match. Or, whatever. Since the color of the plastrons and utilities are the proper color, it's really not particularly obvious to anyone it's not pointed out to. Possibly another reason I haven't seen this discussed. Or maybe my hands secrete some kind of horrible acid that science simply cannot explain.
I do still really like them and feel like they are my favorite Turtles in my collection. I'm really, really considering Bebop and Rocksteady. Would be nice to have a set of them that I'm not afraid of breaking whenever I so much as graze their ankles or hips. I also want to see a painted version of that Shredder! Sure hope this line isn't killed by Mattel getting the master license. Stay tuned for pics of the brothers together!
The Official Trip (and sometimes the Raider) Collection™ because I think about them a really normal amount
"All drugs are drugs" = a surprisingly radical position that will upset people right across the political spectrum
This means:
If you draw a hard line between "drug" and "medicine" based on current legality where you live (or any other criteria) you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think legality and/or prescription status tells you all you need about a substance's capacity to do massive harm to someone's body, mind or well-being you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think legality and/or prescription status tells you all you need about a substance's capacity to contribute meaningfully to someone's healing, function or happiness you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think certain substances should be excluded from informed consent (either withheld or forcibly administered) you've gone wrong somewhere.

Ok but do you rememder the first time you had a takoyaki tho? When you ignore the beni shoga bits and the katsubon flakes, it really does taste strongly of green onion. The octopus plays second fiddle. They did not put kill onionsan to put him in the fritter balls.
I can't believe it took me this long to post these I finished this like nine months ago
An idea I had for Blood of Eden propaganda/recruitment posters featuring some of our favorite guys - combo of digital-print cyberpunk graphic design style with oldschool Saturday Morning Post covers like you'd see Leyendecker paintings on
I was gonna post these ahead of tabling at a small con and selling prints of them but ended up not tabling because turns out grad school is hard
maybe next year... figured tumblr would like though
god I'm such a slut for Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce *decides it’s inaccurate to refer to myself as a slut in light of my minimal sexual activity* if The Enemy discovered my ardor for Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce, they would gain a significant strategic advantage
So DR ch5 drops at 16 in my timezone and at that time I have to be at work, then from work I go straight to a dinner party, so I'm going to block every related tags.
Lots of people the world over use latin alphabet to write and read and no one think this is crazy? It makes sense for me using it where I live. Not only I am 15 minutes by foot away from major roman ruins, I am literally 2 hours by car from Rome. By the cruelest game of telephone fueled by colonization over the centuries it has become the de facto "standard" way to write. Wtf.
You can be tempted to assume SNK and Nazca used stylized pixel art instead of a more realistic renderinig style for Metal Slug to help them run the game on the NeoGeo but it infamously was very bad at running on their own native system. Like they had to remake the 2 into Metal Slug X immediately after releasing it because it ran so bad and slow it was choppy to play at times.
I've got big calves from my mother's side, like in proportion with the rest of my leg they read chunky and meaty even If I have never trained them. So I have like no respect for a bodybuilder guy with a built upper body but toothpick calves. All that effort for visible abs, biceps the size of my head, wide delts, and then you have smaller calves than me. Why are you here at the beach, go back to the gym for your leg day, culturist boy.
everyone eat more vegetables NOW!!! and mention the last vegetable you ate in the tags so we're all on the buddy system. I'll start: bok choy
