Following Mingi For A Fashion Event [Drabble // Oneshot]
pairing: mingi x fem!reader (y/n)
summary: finally being able to take leave from work, you followed mingi for a promotional brand trip to Singapore for his MCM collaboration launch, being a part of the exhilerating fan experience.

[A/N: This was meant to be a drabble, I swearrrrr... It was only supposed to be 1k words, not nearly 4k]
"I need to clear my leave." You groaned loudly, throwing your head back against the couch. Mingi shuffled over to where you were situated, throwing his body onto the space beside you but stretching his long limbs over your lap like an overgrown cat.
"I have an idea, actually." He turned his head to rest on your thighs as he looked up at you. You hummed in response.
"You know the MCM collab that we're launching. Because of the 50th anniversary celebration, the brand asked if I wanted to fly to Singapore to launch it." He revealed.
"Really? That sounds fun. The last one was Thailand, no?" You checked. You had wanted to go with Mingi but there was a business meeting.
While Mingi was a celebrity, you were a regular civilian. You had a corporate job, leading a small marketing team.
"Yeah, it was. You couldn't come then so why don't you come with me to Singapore? It'll only be for 2 days." He suggested. You lifted your head, tilting your head as you thought about it.
"But it's a brand trip. Should I really be going?" You thought out loud.
"It'll be fine, baby. Maybe we could fly to another destination after? I think I have some time off." Mingi took his phone out to check.
"Check your calendar." He poked your stomach. You reached out for your phone to pull up your work calendar, Mingi curiously lifting his head to peek over the side of your phone.
"Ah ha! No meetings scheduled yet. You're free to go with me." He pointed at the lack of coloured blocks on your screen and cheekily grinned up at you. You looked at your calendar properly and he was right, there weren't any project calls that day because there was another department event happening.
"You lucky duck." You chuckled.
"I'm not a duck, I'm a chick." He rolled his eyes at you, making you playfully slap his forehead.
"But you're only going for a day and a half." You pointed out, taking his phone to look at his scheduled. He would fly Thursday afternoon and fly back on Saturday.
"Ah, still. Just come. It'll be a nice... day trip." He flashed you his bread smile, which his mom hates but you love. :]
"Fine. I'll put in my leave." You let out an exasperated sigh. But Mingi knew you were joking.
"I knew you would give in so I already booked your ticket. Just let me forward you the details." He sat up, going to get his laptop. Your eyes widened in disbelief as you stared at his retreating back.
"I called your boss and asked him. He said it was all good." He came back, holding his laptop in one hand, his other on the trackpad.
"How did you even get my boss' number?" You frowned.
"I just called the front desk. The receptionist routed me to your boss, I told him. At first he didn't believe me and thought I was some random crazy person but I convinced him that I was indeed your partner and just asked. He was more than happy to grant your leave." He said.
"Y-You're unbelievable, Song Mingi." You shook your head with a small scoff.
"Unbelievably in love." He corrected, sitting beside you and typing your email to forward you the ticket details.
-
So here you were, sitting amongst the luggages, watching Mingi get ready with hair and makeup before heading to the airport. You leaned your head against the wall next to you.
"Are you sleepy? You can take a nap, love." Mingi said, looking at you through the mirror.
"I'm good." You took your phone out. The usual news channels on YouTube had already scheduled livestreams for Mingi's departure.
Being busier with work, it had been a while since you followed Mingi for work and went through the whole 9 yard routine. When you first started dating, you were at almost all shows and appearances.
"You're really going with him for one day?" A voice appeared. You lifted your head to see Yunho standing there.
"Yunho." You smiled, standing up to greet him. Yunho grinned and came over to give you a greeting hug. He chuckled, wrapping his long arms around you. Of course, dating Mingi meant that you got to know his bestest friend in the whole wide world. You even played along with the joke that the 3 of you were secretly a throuple.
"What do you mean by that?" Mingi glared at his best friend through the mirror. Yunho laughed and kept an arm around your shoulder, tucking you to his side.
"I mean that your girlfriend should take an actual break from work, stay home and do nothing, not follow you for a fashion event." He said.
"I just want to spend as much time with her before comeback." Mingi clarified with a scoff.
"It's fine. It'll be like a day trip before we come back." You giggled, appreciating Yunho's sentiments. You patted his arm and sat back down while Yunho went to his own makeup chair.
"You've got schedules today?" You asked.
"Yeah, some appearances and social media filming." Yunho said, leaning back into the chair.
"So, (y/n). What role are you going to take today?" Yunho asked you. Usually, when you went with Mingi for these work things, you always went undercover as a staff member.
"Maybe I'll stick with manager-nim. I was already make up team last time." You chuckled.
"Ah, just stay with us. We'll lead you though." The stylist team laughed and you gave a thumbs up. Everyone on Ateez's team was nice and kind enough to let you blend in with them. All you had to do was wear a cap and a mask.
"Okay, I'm done." Mingi came out of the dressing room, dressed in MCM sweats and a black tank top. He headed to the mirror to check his reflection, moving a lock of hair away from his eyes.
"Is that all you're gonna wear?" You raised an eyebrow.
"I have a hoodie." He nodded over to the MCM hoodie that the stylist took out, it was one of his items that he designed.
You would know, you had one in your closet. When his collection was first announced, Mingi hand delivered one of everything in his collection to your doorstep.
"I'm really happy you're coming." He pulled you against him, leaning down to kiss your head.
"Stop, there's other people here." You mumbled in embarrassment, pressing your face against his chest. Mingi laughed and patted your head.
"It's okay, baby. They're used to it." He assured. Once the manager called, Mingi and you grabbed your things.
"Bye, Yunho!" You waved.
"Bye! Have a good trip, you two!" Yunho called back, unable to turn his head as the hairstylist was doing his hair. Mingi held your hand the entire time as you two headed downstairs.
"I'll see you on the plane?" Mingi smiled. You hummed and hugged him tightly, tip-toeing to give him a quick peck. He entered the van while you went to join the stylist team in their van. Mingi watched as the girls hugged your arms, chatting with you since it had been a while since you all caught up with one another.
"Alright, lover boy." His manager chuckled, seeing the mesmerised smile on Mingi's face. He patted the taller on the shoulder to get into the van before they were late.
"I know you're excited Mingi. But remember, there's a lot of press. No looking out for her or anything." His manager reminded.
"Yes, hyung. I'll try to remember." Mingi said, continuing to text you.
The last thing Mingi wanted was to act carelessly and risk exposing your identity. It almost happened once during one of the first travels you went with the team.
But Mingi brushed it off as being worried about a team member that wasn't feeling too well.
"Alright, we're here." The manager told him. Taking a deep breath, Mingi put his game face on and got out of the van to face the press.
The next time you saw Mingi was on the plane. The both of you sat in the middle row of business class. Although your side of the plane was secured and guarded, you still had to be cautious.
"I missed you." He smiled.
"We saw each other a few hours ago." You playfully rolled your eyes as you placed your bag in the overhead and sat in your seat.
"Ooh, looks like your new Instagram pics went up. Nice posing at the lounge. I'm sure the fans would love you in the black tank top." You teased, looking at your feed. Mingi leaned over and hummed in approval, seeing all the photos.
"You like them?" That's all Mingi cared about.
Despite his onstage persona, Mingi was an affectionately, albeit clumsy, lover. You love that about him. Mingi was always true to you and himself.
From the time you started dating, he remained the same. He was always reminds you of a great dane that thought he was the size of a chihuahua that could fit in your lap.
"Of course, I love them." You cupped his cheek.
"Looks like we'll have about 7 hours to ourselves, unplugged." Mingi smiled softly at you.
"Yeah, we'll just have to be careful when the flight attendants move throught the cabin." You said and pulled your hand back when the flight attendant walked through to ensure everyone had their seatbelts on.
"The fans won't come here, right?" You looked back. You knew there were fans that followed, it couldn't be helped.
"Yeah. I told management that you were with me so we got more guards. They won't even be able to come near us." Mingi promised.
After the flight, you went back to the stylist team as they disembarked from the plane. No doubt, there will be fans or press that knew Mingi's flight details and would wait for him to land.
"There's not much we can do while we're here, can we? Considering we're only here for one full day. Maybe while we're getting dinner, we can get one night of shopping done." One of the stylists said, looking at her watch. You and the others nodded in agreement. It was currently, close to 8pm Singapore time.
"Maybe just spend the night in the hotel." Another girl yawned, leaning back against her seat of the van.
"Oh, Mingi's scheduled to have a live tonight. Want to join us for dinner and shopping then?" One tapped your shoulder.
"Thanks but I'll stay with him and wait for his live to be over. It shouldn't be too long." You smiled gratefully. You wanted to spend as much time with him as possible.
Seems like Mingi felt that way too because the moment you stepped off the elevator, onto the secure floor, Mingi trapped you in a hug.
"Mingi!" You squealed in surprise as Mingi leaned over your smaller frame.
"Cute. Goodnight, you two." The staff members teased the two of you. With Mingi's arm still secured around you, he led you to your shared room. You were greeted by a display and gifts from the MCM team.
"Awww, that's cute." You smiled. Mingi nodded, taking his phone out to snap some pictures to post onto social media.
"Okay, come here you." Mingi snatched your waist, pulling you to him.
"I'm really so happy you're here, love." Mingi leaned in and planted soft kisses along your jaw. You put your arms around his neck, hugging him tightly, feeling his hair tickle your cheek.
"I'm happy to be here with you too, Min. Any time spent with you is always a good time." You stroked his hair, staring into his eyes. Mingi's phone buzzed, a reminder coming through that he needed to prepare for his livestream.
"Later, hmm?" He tucked a lock of hair behind your ear, cupping your cheek. You hummed as you leaned into his touch.
"Love you." He gave you a kiss.
"Love you too." You replied back with a smile. You knew all the precautions when Mingi had to do livestreams like hiding items, keeping quiet and basically, making yourself invisible.
You sat in the bathroom with everything you needed, including headphones to watch Mingi's live.
You had to cover your mouth to stifle a laugh as you watched Mingi eat the expensive desserts that they had bought for him.
"Well, that's it for tonight. Goodnight, ATINY. Thank you for all the support in this collection. I really hope you all like it when it is released." Mingi waved to the camera and ended the live.
Mingi got up, wondering why you hadn't emerged from the bathroom so he went in himself.
"Are you working?" Mingi blinked, seeing you type on your laptop.
"Some email came in from my team about an upcoming proposal so just reading through it." You said, eyes not leaving your screen, until a hand covered your eyes.
"Alright, no more reading emails, my little workaholic. You're supposed to be on leave away from work. I don't even know why I let you bring your laptop." Mingi scolded from his position at your side. You chuckled and moved his hand away from your eyes, craning your neck slightly to kiss him. But nonetheless, you kept your laptop away.
"I only brought it for emergencies. And I'm not a workaholic." You rolled your eyes.
"Mingi!" You squealed when he suddenly lifted you up, your arms scrambling to wind around his neck to steady yourself. Mingi just chuckled and brought you out to the bathroom.
"Hey, don't leave my laptop in the bathroom." You tapped his cheek before he carefully laid you down on the bed.
"Okay, no more mentioning laptop. Focus on me, Song Mingi, your boyfriend." Mingi hovered over you.
"I am. That's why I'm here, right?" You cupped his cheeks with a soft smile. Mingi shot you a lopsided smile and laid his body over your own, burying his face against your chest.
"You giant baby. It's funny how you're so tough and flirty on stage, yet you're like this privately." You stroked the back of his head.
"Don't tease me, I'm a soft boy..." He mumbled.
"We should wash up and get dinner before we both fall asleep." You yawned, stretching your arms as far as Mingi's grasp would let you. The boy was glued to your waist.
"I left some of the desserts for you. They're good but I don't understand them. They're too fancy." Mingi said.
"Says the one who has reservations at Waku Ghin tomorrow." You patted his hip and sat up. Mingi reluctantly let you out of his grip, watching from the bed as you approached the small table where the desserts were.
"You didn't seem to fancy the strawberry one. Mingtis will be making memes of your expression when you sniffed it." You giggled, opening the two boxes.
"I was just saving it for you. You like strawberris more than me. But you should eat that passionfruit one too. It's yummy." He got up.
"I'm going to take a shower. We'll order some room service?" He leaned over you. You hummed in agreement.
"Could you bring my laptop out of there, please?" You asked as he was retreating to the bathroom, remembering that he left your things on the floor of the bathroom.
"I'm holding it hostage. Can't risk you working while I'm showering." He hollered back. You scoffed and rolled your eyes.
The desserts were really good. You knew they were from an expensive brand so you enjoyed them gratefully while waiting for Mingi. After he was done, you went to shower while Mingi ordered room service.
"Did you like the desserts?" Mingi asked as you towel dried your hair.
"They're good. I went to search for the price on the store's website. Never thought desserts could cost so much." You laughed.
"You could enjoy more of these treats if you come with me more often~" Mingi sang. You shot him a look.
When your relationship got more serious, you and Mingi did talk about you not having to work anymore because he could provide for you. But you didn't want that. You wanted to have your own career and not have him paying for you. Nothing against anyone else who did that, it just wasn't something you wanted for yourself.
"I'm just joking, manager nim." Mingi reached over to pat your head, calling you what your team calls you. Despite his teasing, Mingi was very supportive of you and your decisions.
"What's on the agenda tomorrow?" You asked.
"I have to wake up for some the usual hair and make up, probably take some photos..." He said.
"I'll have some time to explore on my own then."
"Yeah, it'll be chaotic so maybe don't go with the staff. A plain clothes will follow you. We'll head to the store to do some promo stuff then go to the main pop up area." Mingi checked his phone.
"Make sure you have your bbyongmings on your bag. And your photocard holder." He reminded.
"Yeah, maybe I should try for an autograph." You tapped your chin.
-
You didn't know why you were so surprised to see all the fans there when you went to the mall. You had separated from Mingi earlier, not wanting to distract him from all the chaos of getting ready.
"Wow, there's a lot of people. It's still early." You said to the guard who was with you. Seemed like the fan areas for the first floor were already full so security guards were ushering people to the upper floors to wait for Mingi instead.
"Never underestimate the power of atiny." He chuckled, leading you to the upper floors.
"There are a lot of fans at the main store already, waiting for him. It may not be the safest to be there." He advised.
"Sure. I'll follow your lead then. Maybe staying at the upper floors would be better than trying to see from the first floor." You smiled as you took the escalator up.
"We can put you in a secure area if you'd like, miss." He offered.
"It's okay. It won't be fair to the atiny that have been here from the morning. Heard they were here before the mall even opened." You said.
You both found a spot somewhere along the fourth level. The view of the area was quite far and you knew you wouldn't be able to really see but you were just happy to be there supporting Mingi.
As expected, there were fans with bbyongmings and mingyos hanging from their bags with photocards of Mingi.
"Hey, come join us. We're taking pictures of our bbyongmings." Some fans approached you.
You always had a nice time with atiny. Maybe because they didn't know who you were but they were always friendly and inclusive. At least, they ones that you have met.
It wasn't long before screams filled the mall and you saw Mingi walk over from the store, with a team of guards around him. He looked so good and charismatic. Some fans chased behind him, presumably having followed him from the MCM store itself, where Mingi did some photo taking and interviews.
"It's been a while since I've been to any of these." You said, watching Mingi wave to the fans, resulting in screams.
From your spot, you couldn't see much but you could see all the interviews happening as well as pictures that he took with different influencers and celebrities that came.
"He's really good with the fanservice." You laughed when you saw fans go crazy when he sprayed the MCM perfume on them to test.
And of course, the fanservice king wouldn't go without signing things and taking pictures with the fans.
"Mingi!" The fans all screamed, barked and waved when he took his phone out to take a video fo them. You felt so happy for him, seeing 5 floors of fans all there for him.
"Miss, shall we go? It may be hard to leave later." The guard asked.
"Yes, thanks." You laughed. You watched Mingi leave and the fans run after him frantically.
"Thank you for accompanying me." You smiled to the guard. He smiled back and escorted you out. Luckily, there was a separate car to pick you up as many fans were also trying to get transport out.
"I was looking for you! Where were you?" Mingi laughed, engulfing you in a hug once he saw you step out from the lift.
"I was on the fourth floor. Your fans filled up the viewing areas of the other floors. But don't worry, I could still see you. You were very cool, Min." You hugged him back, patting his back. Mingi let out little sounds of happiness at your words.
"Wait for me in the room, let me get changed out." He went to the stylist's room to change out of the MCM denim outfit and into street clothes while you went to the room to rest for a bit.
"Ah, much more comfortable." Mingi said, laying on you as you look through the photos and videos that you took, squishing you.
"Ugh. You seriously underestimate how big you are." You grunted.
"Are those the pictures you took? Baby, they're awful. Look at the quality. Why are they so blurry?" Mingi took your phone to swipe through the photos you took.
"I was on the fourth floor so I tried to zoom in! Sorry I don't have a professional camera like your fansites." You scoffed.
"You should have been camping with them on the first floor. Then I could have interacted with you. Sign your photocard." He teased.
"You've already signed all my photocards. At this point, the rarity is to have a not signed Mingi photocard." You said. You remember Mingi taking out your box of photocards and signing EACH ONE.
"You should thank me. You could sell those and make money." He pointed out, making you roll your eyes.
"Okay, we have to get ready, we're leaving for dinner soon." You tapped his shoulder when you realised what time it was.
"No..." He whined, tightening his grip on your waist.
"Mingi~ You were the one who made the reservations, we have to go~" You whined back. Mingi dramatically let out a snore, snuggling closer to you, obviously having no intention to move from his spot. You just sighed in defeat. Whatever, if the manager scolded you two for being late, you'll just blame Mingi.
me, six years ago, tinhatting: ok red and purple are at the opposite ends of the visible spectrum of light green is in the middle that could mean it is a meeting point of illusions (purple) and altered states/raw feelings (hala hala red) so it could be a bridge to reality as one accepts both conflicting ends
wanteez episode ideas that i need to subtly incept into the brains of the lesbians that work at KQ:
a makeover episode where they get assigned random partners they then get to dress up and put makeup on. fashion show at the end
an episode where they all have to figure out together how to build an ikea dresser with no instructions and also mingi is in charge of making sure they don't lose any screws
an episode where, at the beginning of the episode, they are all given gummies that look the same, but one (1) gummy is an extra potent melatonin gummy and who knows which one got it. it's also 11 pm after a long ass shoot day and they've been deprived caffeine all day. if the melatonin member outlasts the rest he gets to sleep in the next day. basically put these grown men through sleep torture
an episode where they get a flat tire. there's no more to this idea i just think it's time for them to experience a normal horror
an episode where they all trade moms for a day and the moms get to decide what each boy does and it's cute and healing
