My main fandoms are Pokémon and Monster High but I like a ton of fandoms and will post about them. I also have many hobbies I will post about and I have a fiber arts blog on here too. I also use this platform to rant because my ADHD makes me a yapper so you never know what I'll post next. It varies from full mental breakdowns to rants about how underappreciated an obscure animatronic from the 80's is. So uh, good news and bad news regarding the Valentine X Spelldon fanfics I'm trying to finish before going to trade school. The good news is, I don't have to rush anymore to complete them. The bad news is I almost got into a car wreck because my brakes went out and my cosmetology school put me on the bottom of the waiting list again because I didn't make it to my enrollment appointment this afternoon. My brakes luckily worked but only if I slammed them to the floor of my car and I was next to a gas station when they went out so I was able to pull over in a safe spot. I'm fine. I only waited three months to get into school but I'm fine. My grandparents forgot to hang up their phone when I called them for help and overheard them calling me slurs and curse words when they thought the call was over but I'm fine!... I'm going to try adding paragraph boarders to the fic I already posted so I don't play my wrists like a violin. I'm fine. I'm fine. No worries. I'm fine.

Summary:

The Cosmetology School I've Been On A Waiting List For: Hey, I know it's short notice but it's now your turn on the list and you have to enroll and start in a week.
Me: Oh ok. Cool. Cool... *Looks at my fics* Well call me Alexander Hamilton because I'm about to start writing like I'm running out of time!
One out of five chapters in the first fic has just been completed! I'm going to take a break for dinner but I will continue working on it later tonight. If I keep up this pace, I'll have the first fic done by Sunday! I'm working on the fic I teased a few posts ago, and since it's named after a musical song lyric, I decided to name each chapter after a song lyric as well. And don't worry, any borrowed scenes from the Monster High comics will be properly credited at the end of each chapter that uses them. I have a friend beta reading it who isn't a Spellentine fan and she's actually hyped to read the rest of the fic so I take that as a good sign everything is going well! The fic deals with a photo album and memories associated with it between the two so there's a lot of POV switching and my main concern is seamlessly transitioning between memories, POVs, and what's happening in real time but also making it obvious who's eyes we're seeing through when read. I figured three spaces between scenes and switches would help that a little bit but I'm still a little nervous about it. I also planted a teaser for the second fic in the first chapter, so when I released it sometime this weekend or next week, keep an eye out for that hint. 😉
Chapter two done! Three more of the first fic left to go and seven of the other one! Also, I'm researching different cryptids and mythological creatures to put into the fics because of Valentine's volunteer job and I found the best one ever! A Shrimply. It's a giant shrimp and they named it Shrimply. Shrimply, my beloved. Why isn't that more popular?! Shrimply would be the best meme cryptid! 😭 It won't be in the fics sadly but I stan Shrimply. 😔✊🏻 Also, I will not be posting the chapters one at a time, the whole fic will be posted at the same time so please be patient. That's just my writing style. I like to go back and edit as I go, bear with me please. 🙏🏻 I posted a teaser for the first fic on my blog last night.

I have arthritis in my spine, I should NOT be writing in the shrimp position! 😭 I'm usually a short story writer so I'm honestly impressed with my word counts right now! Chapter one was just over 2,000, chapter two around 3,500, and chapter three is 4,208 words. My average writing time is 2 and a half hours so that's a lot of shrimpin'! Most of my works are usually around the 500-1,000 mark as I've published for short story competitions before with a strict word count. I'm poppin' OFF, fam! Also I learned baby bats are called pups and I'm gonna use that to add to Valentine's adjectives. For example, instead of Val giving someone puppy eyes, he does pup eyes. So much cuteness potential!
Chapter four complete! After I finish the last chapter I will take some time to edit the story before publishing the whole thing to AO3. I have a poll going on my blog for whether or not to make a custom skin for the fics, please vote. As for the first of the two fics, we are officially in the final countdown, folks!
It's done! The first of the two fics IS DONE!!! All I have to do now is read over it, edit it, then publish to AO3! Thank all of y'all for your patience! I will post a link here on my blog once it's up, I'm going to try and do the editing tonight and have it posted. If you didn't see my other post sharing the total word count after chapter four, it was 13,380 words as of last chapter and before editing which will add more. I specialize in writing short stories, I've done writing contests with a strict 1,000 word cap, I never thought I would ever write this much in my life! I'm so proud of myself! I also ran a poll yesterday asking if I should make custom skins for the fics and y'all said to add those after publishing so I will update y'all when I get that done. Anyways, I have to go edit the fanfic, mostly add more details and make sure all the proper Monster High terms are used.
The bois came in!!! I don't have a dedicated display or anything for my dolls so I just put them on my dresser for now in front of my jewelry stand. And next to my diabetes meds so please don't look at those in the bottom corner. 😅 (Yes, I'm a trans man that wears jewelry. Mostly bracelets though. And if you're wondering what those balls are behind them, I picked up contact juggling as a hobby, those are my practice balls.) I tried to make them stare lovingly into each other's eyes while holding hands but they kinda look like they're about to square up for a toxic yaoi fight. 😭 Also, now that I have the dolls, I might try to figure out that lace pattern on Valentine's vest to recreate it. I'm a damn good crocheter and I have a fiber arts blog that has fandom inspired patterns that has been neglected for a while. The problem is, it's embroidery but the doll description says crochet so I'm not sure it I can recreate it. Embroidery meant to look like crochet may not actually translate into crochet. (I made a post a while ago about the crochet vest when the dolls were announced because I always headcannoned Valentine as a lace knitter so that detail means my headcannon is slightly cannon. Crochet cannot be machine made or ethically mass produced so he either commissioned it or made that himself. I'm just happy to have my favorite hobby represented in a doll even if crochet would be historically inaccurate for Valentine. I'll infodump down below.) I'm also a little disappointed that Val's nails aren't painted like Spelldon's doll. Their joints were also stiff AF out of the box! Despite very minor things, I absolutely love these dolls!

So I headcannoned Valentine as a knitter because he wears lace in his outfits and he's 1602 years old which means knitting would've been one of two main fiber arts of his time (the second being weaving) and knitting was a male thing back in the day as a popular trade in textile making. While you could knit at home as many families made their own textiles and clothes, many countries and towns had a guild that would prohibit sales from non professionals and dictate who became a professional knitter, usually by sending young men on trade internships then doing a three month test where they had to knit some sort of accessory, a garment, and a tapestry. (And I mean one of those HUGE fucking tapestries! It's honestly astounding ANYONE passed those tests! Especially the tapestry portion because those are detailed!) I didn't jump to crochet in my headcannon because crochet is fairly recent, just being created in the 19th century, and it would come off as a plot hole. The methods that created crochet had been around since cavemen times, putting thread into loops and knots have been a thing long before weaving and knitting, but the actual art and method originated in Ireland as a new way to make lace. While Valentine is from Ireland, he canonically was in Transylvania at the time according to Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love. He could have picked it up in a recent time, but he's wearing lace in the outfit seen in Draculaura's flashback which led me to believe he knitted it. Crochet was made to look like knitted lace after all and it didn't leave Ireland until a mass immigration happened due to famine which is how it spread and evolved into what you see today. In fact, my grandma's family were some of the Irish immigrants that brought crochet to America, I even have my great grandmother's lace crochet hook and use it for tapestry work.

It's going to take me a while to show y'all photos of them out of the box. I want to use the back of the box as a poster on my media wall and the striped background you see while viewing from the front is a separate panel and I was thinking of making some sort of custom dollhouse to display my doll collection (and I don't really talk about it but I have split personalities due to trauma and my system's little really loves dolls and so I wanted to make her a dollhouse that doubles as a display) so I want to preserve that panel to later use as wallpaper. The way they package it, it's nearly impossible to get everything off without potential rips and I only have 30 minutes before I have to go leave for therapy so it's gonna be a while. There's tape on the back securing all the plastic bits in place so I have to figure out how to undo all of it without breaking the decorative back panel, and more importantly WITHOUT DAMAGING THE DOLLS! Anyways, here's the photos I took of them in box.

The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.

Got a refusal or no response from your MP?
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if they’re already in Parliament. Even if they don’t, they’re made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.

Organisations can’t provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination.
e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, men’s rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee.
If you’re a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from women’s bathrooms if you’re perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a ‘third space’ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).
A women’s only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of ‘lesbian’, and therefore no longer have legal protections if they’re discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).

Ok so I know I shouldn't take on anymore side quests (if you don't follow me you may not have seen my profile pic side quest for AO3) while already stretched for time to write and publish my Valentine X Spelldon fanfics but I just learned about making custom skins for fanfics on AO3 and I think it would definitely be a cool idea to make custom skins for both fics. I don't see them typically used in fanfics but I personally like the idea, especially since I went to school for graphic design before having to drop out but that's a long story I don't have time for because I start cosmetology school in a week with two fics to get done. If I make a skin, can I go back and add it after the fics are posted because I intend to publish them to AO3 as a completed fic, not chapter installments? It will be my first time posting to Ao3 (I've done fanfics on Quotev a decade ago and my self published and contest works are on Wattpad) so I don't know the site specifics and limitations. If I post a skin to the fics would everyone see it or just me because I don't typically see skins on Ao3 works. I like the idea but don't know how exactly they work and if I can add them afterwards. What do y'all think?
