After 17 years, the Sketchbook manga has concluded
I'm sad to announce that it's the end of an era as it appears that after 17 years, the Sketchbook manga will be concluded in next month's edition of Monthly Comic Garden.
This news has come as a shock to many Sketchbook fans due to its sudden nature, but it seems that Kobako Totan's 4koma, running since 2002 and having a 2007 anime spinoff, is finally ending.
Thanks for all the memories, Art Club
Good Day. You may have long since left this blog and moved on in your life, But I thank you dearly for creating a wonderful and beautiful blog dedicated to Sketchbook. As someone who has only just watched the anime, this blog is helping fill the void left by its absence. Thank you.
Hi!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad that people are still discovering this wonderful series, and it’s still remembered after all these years!
Apologies it’s taken me a couple days to respond to this. I’m not really active on tumblr anymore I’m afraid, as I’m usually on twitter nowadays, and this blog has gone too long without any real update. But it was always created as a place for Sketchbook fans to enjoy, so at the very least I’m glad that even in its current state it can still achieve that.
And nice job with the Kate fanart as well! It’s great that people are still making fanworks over a decade after the anime aired! Keep bein’ awesome!
Heya!
I’m aware that we haven’t really been posting a whole lot lately, which in some way is inevitable as there hasn’t been a whole lot of new Sketchbook material coming out. But at the same time, it would be a shame to see the blog fall away (or continue to!)
Which is where you come in!
This blog was originally created to form a sort of hangout for Sketchbook (and related anime) fans, and we want to make it a fun thing to have around, so if you have any suggestions for the blog, or anything you’d like to see, or just want to have a chat, then send us a message in our askbox, and we’ll see what we can do! We look forward to hearing from you!
Until next time, happy punning!

I’ll probably set up a queue to reblog that at a couple different times, so we get as many views on board as possible!

We’re up to date on the latest Sketchbook news, honest!
Crunchyroll To Stream “You’re Being Summoned, Azazel”, “Sketchbook ~full color’s~”
Anime Herald Anime Herald - We’ll talk nerdy to you.
It looks like Crunchyroll’s adding something for everyone today!
Earlier today, Crunchyroll added two titles to their streaming lineup. Both You’re Being Summoned, Azazel (Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san) and Sketchbook ~full color’s~ were added to the company’s platform for members in the United States and Canada. Both shows are available in their entirety for Premium subscribers.
Free members can catch the first season of You’re Being Summoned, Azazel today, with its second season and Sketchbook ~full color’s~ hitting next week.
You’re Being Summoned, Azazel is based on Yasuhisa Kubo’s manga of the same name. The series was directed by Tsutomu Mizushima (Blood-C, Prison School) at Production I.G., with Junichiro Taniguchi (Genshiken: Second Generation, Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun) providing character designs.
Crunchyroll describes the series as:
Have a stalker you just can’t shake? Fear your spouse is being unfaithful? You might consider hiring Akutabe, a detective who summons demons to do his dirty work. While his methods might seem unorthodox, he always gets results. However, as powerful as Akutabe is, manipulating demons is delicate art. His new part-time employee Sakuma, a young college girl, doesn’t get to spend too much time exploring the finer points of controlling demons before Akutabe forces her into a demonic contract with Azazel. Azazel is lazy, lustful and depraved… Everything you’d expect a demon to be. Sakuma needs to keep Azazel on a tight leash, but to do that, she may have to dabble in a little depravity herself.
Sketchbook ~full color’s~ is based on Totan Kobako’s Sketchbook manga. The series was helmed by Yoshimasa Hiraike (Kaleido Star, Wagnaria!!) at Hal Film Maker, with Isao Sugimoto (Girls und Panzer, Ultimate Otaku Teacher) providing character designs. Mari Okada (Black Butler, Kiznaiver) took charge of series composition and wrote the scripts.
Crunchyroll describes the series as:
No matter where she goes, Sora takes her sketchbook along. The world is full of mysterious and beautiful things, after all, and Sora doesn’t want to miss a single one. The best way she knows to capture each moment is by drawing and sketching, watching and learning. However, though Sora is full of wonder, she’s also incredibly shy. She doesn’t have many friends, except for her fellow classmates in the Art Club. But even though they all seem to be slightly crazy (the teacher included), each of them adds another bright color to Sora’s world.
Both titles are licensed by Right Stuf in North America.
