Sketching for fun.

I want to get better at drawing. So i'll try to do it regularly. This blog is where i'll be posting the results of drawing challenges i take or just exercises. One of my goals is to gain both speed and quality. So while i'll try my best to do good drawings, there may be some that will not be that good. 😅

I don’t know if I’ll be doing the 100 days of sketching challenge this year. Maybe some days. On one hand I’ve been having a little bit of pain on my wrist and i don’t want this to turn into the carpal tunnel syndrome thing. On the other hand there are things going over here at home that will eat some of my free time. Let’s see what happens. 😊

So far I had wanted to follow the official mermay prompts, but I’m not really that thrilled about most of the rest of the list. So, I think I’ll just draw what I want. Not sure if I’ll be turning existing characters into mer people or if I’ll draw like random characters.

Also, sketching with ballpoint pens has its charm, but I kinda want to try a bit of digital again as well. So, let’s see what happens now.

When I say day 3 was about hair i immediately thought of Yashiro from the Hanako Kun anime. I know she doesn’t have pink hair, but I wanted to highlight her hair and I also wanted to stay monochromatic

“Cosmic” was the prompt for mermay day 2. Who can be more cosmic than a star touched elf? An attempt to draw an Aaravos merman 😊

I finished last night but I decided to wait till today to take the photo. Natural sunlight makes a huge difference

I’m liking this mixing of alcohol markers and color pencils 😊

So,… this drawing has been in one of my unfinished sketchbooks since forever. It was only lineart. I recently bought this new (new to me) brand of alcohol markers and I wanted to use them to color Úrsula here. I guess I should had chosen closer colors. The blending didn’t happen as expected. I tried using the blender. Maybe with this brand the blender would actually blend. I applied fast and little, just in case. It sort of helped a bit but I’m still not happy. Later I’m gonna experiment with blending closer colors, extreme different ones and etc. For the moment I’m gonna use my color pencils to see what I can do for this little sea witch.
