WTF SciFi?!?!?!?!?!?

In Star Wars ANH, Luke says "...prisoner transfer from cell block 1138..."

Regardless of the number, wouldn't the guard know if that is even a valid number? How does Luke, who didn't even know the Death Star existed, knew what a valid cell block number would be? He is either real good at guessing or the guard is terrible at his job.

Don't '@ me' with he used the force as Luke had barely found out about the force on the ride to the Death Star, not enough time to master mind control.

I get stuff from China all the time. I know that English is not their 1st language. Usually, the boxes come with benign sayings I am sure they heard once and may not even know what they say. This one, however, does not instill confidence in something I specifically ordered.

I'd better know what to expect otherwise you didn't ship the right thing. Unless, of course, I just forgot what I ordered, which might have happened.

WTF SciFi!?!?!?!?!?!

In episode 3, Revenge if the Sith, Ani and Obi are having their epic battle on the lava planet. Ani falls and is burning up and the lava beach. Obi just gives his lines and walks off. !!!!!?????

Obi just leaves him to cruelly burn to death. Wouldn't a finishing strike be more humane? Obi, you're better than this.

I’m at my desk jammin’ out to some old school tunes and every time I get up to go to the bathroom, another good song comes on.

I’ve been stuck at my desk for 5 hours now, and I really need to goooooooooo.

Jurassic Park, Lost World... They get to the island, an island full of JUST dinosaurs, to rescue the small group of scientists that went missing, the rescuers start hollering out for "Sara!!"

That's real good. Make a lot of noise on an island with velociraptors. I'm sure nothing could go wrong with that plan.

In Star Wars ANH, everyone is surprised when Han just wants to take his money and go. He spent all of his screen time up to then telling everyone that was his plan.

Leia tells him in the deathstar that "If money's all you love, then that's what you'll recieve." Yes, money is what he has told you he wants.

Does anyone actually listen to Han?

Jurassic Park - what??

The scene where they are climbing over the fence has many flaws, but one I have never heard talked about has nothing to do with electricity or physics of the scene. It is the timing. The boy is having trouble getting down. They know he needs to hurry. They STOP his climbing to yell at him to jump. All the while, he sits frozen.

Quit confusing him. Had he just been encouraged to climb down faster. He could have made it in time.

Today, it’s gonna be like that?? OK!

You know that feeling when you blow your nose and you know that something shot past the tissue and now you have no idea where that nasal nugget went?????

Yeah, today is that.

My DIY magazine has handy tips for all sorts of things. They suggest using a pumice stone to clean hard water build up in your toilet bowl. Then they state the stone can also clean your grill. Maybe buy 2 stones, just saying.

WTF, SciFi?!?!

Watching Disco (Star Trek: Discovery) and saw Burnham walk about their shuttle. This happens alot in scifi, the landing shuttle or ship lands on some planet, opens the door, and the crew goes out exploring.

NOONE - absolutely NOONE, locks the door or even closes it. It’s a good thing they aren’t parking at the Quicky Mart. They don’t know if an alien will come on in and make itself at home. Also, space germs - eww.

Experts?

A student looks at a sword in a Venetian monastery and thinks, “hmm, this may be mislabeled by the experts. I think it is older.”

Tests it, just happens to be right. Either the student is lights out brilliant or those experts aren’t so experty.

Weird dreams

I don’t know why I was dreaming about the NFL, but here you go.

I was dreaming the commentators were arguing a play call and reviewing the replay and it was very typical back and forth. The odd bit was the call and I realize this is NOT an actual rule, but it did seem like everything was real enough.

The previous play resulted in a 10 pace penalty. I have no idea what that previous play was, but the defense was charged allowing the QB to take 10 steps and throw the ball BEFORE the defense can move. That’s the rule I apparently made up. That’s not even the weird bit.

The play in question, the QB took 9 steps, threw the ball, and the defense was able to stop the play. The ref threw a penalty as the defense moved on step 9.

The commentators were taking 2 sides - only 9 steps were taken, so the defense should take another penalty and the other side being the QB threw the ball and there is nothing in the rules stating the 10 paces are absolutely necessary. Meaning, the QB can take up to 10 steps but once the ball is thrown, the penalty is served and the defense can make the play.

The arguments I think of in the middle of the night......

Bad weather

So, it’s snowing again, and also Friday.

I usually treat myself to lunch at places the rest of the fam don’t like, but I do.

Today, I had to change my plans because I didn’t want to deal with the traffic that can’t drive in snow and instead opt for places in a low traffic area.

I hate how my lunch revolved around the weather and bad drivers today.

There was better special effects for characters with the muppets in the 80′s. This create, which I am assuming is CGI, looks like it was done by someone who watched a bunch of youtube videos on Blender and said, “I’ll give it a go..”

Ok, so not scifi, per se, but watching National Treasure and one scene is weird.

They have the declaration and need lemon juice to see the message.

His dad just happens to have a butt ton of lemons in the house? Who buys that many lemons just to have?

Watching Rogue One, and also on other Star Wars movies, there is a guy in a tower watching the ships take off and land.

In Rogue One, they are literally stealing the ship on an unauthorized take off and the dude is like

"Meh, must be a training flight or something" obvs he doesn't say anything, but that is the point, shouldn't he HAVE said something? Maybe they didn't have "see something, say something" like our airports but you'd think the rebels would ha e something like that.

On an unrelated note, my phone changed fonts mid post and I'm too lazy to fix it.
