I think the fellow travelers episode 8 promo wants to kill us all before Friday, because I'm not going to be able to make it

Nah episode 8 is going to kill me. I have sooooo many questions. The dialogue in the preview makes it sound like Tim doesn't know what Hawk did in 57, but if that's true, then his coldness towards Hawk at the beginning of episode 6 doesn't fit?? So I'm assuming the dialogue is purposefully misleading. On the other hand if he truly doesn't know it would make writing the letter to Hawk post breakup make a bit more sense. Who the hell knows.

The Lucy aspect is going to be super interesting. Won't lie, when I first saw she was going to the hospital my immediate thought was that she has no right to be there. Completely unfair to her but it was my first thought (I scolded myself so calm down people). It does appear she's going to tell Hawk to come home 'and finish what he started', unless, again, the dialogue in the promo is purposefully misleading. I'm still leaning towards misleading, because she can't really want to continue pretending. I know the era and class she's from taught her to just ignore the aspects of her marriage that were unhappy but she can't want to keep doing that? What I really want to know is if her hospital visit comes pre or post hotel fight with Hawk? Because I can kind of see a scenario where she shows up with every intention of bringing Hawk home with her only for him to tell her that he can't come back. I don't know, I'm trying to put myself in her shoes, and for Lucy, Tim has been a 30 year pain in the ass. She isn't going to view him the same way Hawk does and certainly not the same way we do. Sick or not I can see her wanting to finally tell him off. But she's not a bad person, so confronted with the evidence of just how sick he truly is, she's going to realize that Hawk has to stay. Of course this could all go completely different, but Lucy isn't the villain so I don't see her having a hissy fit in the hospital. I think she will finally get to see who Hawk really is and let go.

It won't matter because I'll be dead anyway. Hawk seems so soft throughout this entire promo and he's going to get his man his meeting with the politician and they're going to hold hands, in a public place!! AND CONFESS THEIR UNDYING LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER. Book Hawk never got this chance. He never got the opportunity to tell Tim all the things he wanted to say. He was left with a life full of regrets. Miniseries Hawk gets to tell Tim everything. And it will end me.

Like have we discussed hawk wanting to gift tim the fire island house???? He said they’d lost so much time (or however he phrased it) but then said he’d only visit a few times a year? for tim to grow old in? yeah hawk's line of thinking here was wild lol not only could he hide the house from his family like tim suggested, but they could also use it as a meeting point multiple times a year. like where was the regard for tim's personal life there tbh. watching this, I was like man, hawk's just assuming that tim will never be in a relationship with anyone, ever and is just waiting like a puppy for the next time they get to meet (i know marcus said tim tried, but relationships never worked out. and yes, tim did go to hawk when he needed him, but it's very presumptuous of hawk to think that no matter what lol). that he will be satisfied with a few times a year, with whatever he can get, instead of what he's been wanting since the 50s: a regular, long-term relationship. again, very presumptuous LOL but like you said, he certainly was not in his right mind, was very much at rock bottom and not thinking clearly, and wanting a connection to tim again because that's his person

I don't understand the people who say the show should end with Hawk returning to Lucy and his life as it was once Tim passes. How would that be a satisfying ending for anyone? That life is a lie and both Hawk and Lucy admitted that in episode 7. What would be the point of the show if after everything Hawk returns to the lie? And why would you want Lucy to take him back? There's no reason for either one of them to continue pretending. And I genuinely don't see either one of them wanting to do so. There is no going back. And I don't know why anyone would want them to do that.
