Whenever I see someone say “I could do that” when they see an art piece I think of Campbell's Soup Cans by Andy Warhol.

It’s just a bunch of giant paintings of Campbell's soup cans. Pretty simple, all things considered. I know a lot of people who could make it with just a little bit of artistic skill.

But when you actually see it in person, it’s different. It’s huge, it’s impossible to ignore. And you get it. It’s about consumerism. Branding. The impossible task of trying to ignore advertising.

And you didn’t think of it. You didn’t think to make that statement in that way. You could’ve, but you didn’t. You didn’t think of it and you didn’t execute it. Maybe you could paint a giant sketch of a soup can. Most people could with enough practice. But you didn’t.

So maybe think for a minute about what’s actually going on with art. And maybe you’ll still come to the conclusion that it’s stupid. But at least you’ll have considered it instead of coming to the simplistic and uninspired conclusion of “I could’ve done that” because the purpose of art isn’t necessarily to be complicated.

the man has harassed this woman through the courts for 4 years, and caused her financial difficulties by causing her to spend up to 6 million in legal fees, as well as smearing her reputation so she can hardly ever work again.

that he is demanding money that he knows his ex-wife doesn’t have, is, in fact further financial abuse from a man who would get angry at her for working and who often made her swear to not take movies or meetings while they were together.
