⁺ . notes ; cw for smoking & somewhat unhealthy habits, flips ! strattland, eva is autistic, need to get my thoughts out before i explode so these r maybe not the best
☆ . . . eva is an involuntary regressor, mainly triggered by major stress events and the weight of the world on her shoulders . no discernible ages that she regresses to, she just knows she feels smaller !
☆ . . . prefers to be called 'eva' when small . 'stratt' implies too much leadership and responsibility, which she absolutely does not want to think about when her brain is all fuzzy
☆ . . . she keeps a detailed 'regression log' where she tracks & experiments with juuust how far she can push herself & endure before she inevitably slips. she schedules fake meetings & hides away until it passes. as the project progresses, it becomes more unpredictable
☆ . . . eva speaks more german when she's small, completely on accident. she instinctively begins her sentences in german and her accent slips out stronger, and it's one of her more external signs that she's regressing
☆ . . . her safe space is underneath her desk in her office. whether its on land or on the vat, grace knows that if eva is ''missing'' he can find her hiding there
☆ . . . sometimes she regresses at the same time as grace ! she listens intently as he rambles on about some science facts or a new discovery he's made in the lab that day, as she stares at him wide-eyed . he's able to make her giggle easier when they're tiny together !
☆ . . .grace has deemed her The Baby in his head. although he has no proof she regresses any younger than he does, he knows that she's softer and gentler in her headspace, so she becomes The Baby to him
☆ . . . has a bad oral fixation but will absolutely refuse to suck her thumb or use anything deemed "for babies" . she takes up smoking to keep her mouth busy, using the excuse that she's stressed if anyone asks (though in the middle of the night her thumb drifts to her mouth anyway)
☆ . . . grace's fox cardigan is her #1 comfort item. she consistently steals it and then denies it when caught. if grace lovingly teases her about it, she gives him a simple "the earth is cooling, dr. grace."
☆ . . . absolutely fascinated by nature documentaries ! her favourites revolve around bugs & history, and she excitedly calls grace into her office everytime she has a new fact she wants to share (they sit together under her desk, curled up with his cardigan, and grace's back will never forgive him)
☆ . . . always always always two coffees . one completely black, the other with a pile of cream & sugar . grace tries to curb her coffee intake the best he can, but he has to get very creative in his ways, otherwise she notices patterns & is able to outsmart him
Seeing a lot of “how to play if you don’t know what to do” posts that don’t explain how to play correctly. I don’t think suggesting kinds of play is helpful if somebody forgot what play IS in the first place.
We all know play is creative and imaginative.
But play is essentially the same thing as art. It’s the same thing as drawing or writing a story or roleplaying. It’s a creative outlet. It is not just a thing you do. Channel the same drive that causes you to world build for fandoms and draw pictures and write stories and fanfiction. It is the same thing.
You play by saying “what if.” “Imagine if.” Those are magic words. You bring any world you want to your fingertips by asking those questions. Have fun!
