Writer’s Block

As a graduate student and small-time author, writer's block is essentially Dazai's worst enemy. When he steps out to a nearby bar, he's looking for a quick break but is more than willing to settle for a quick fuck. But he quickly learns that 'settling' isn't exactly in Chuuya's vocabulary.

The author did an amazing job illustrating all that happened in between our favorite duo with their description of Chuuya's beauty, the music that he played, and basically everything. A good song to listen to while reading would be GRANRODEO's Tsuki ni Dakarete Nemuritai, because Chuuya's voice actor singing jazz is honestly a blessing for your ears.

Notes: This fic is beyond hilarious and I laughed up until the last word. Dazai is a terrible teacher (who constantly flirts with police man Chuuya) with a rowdy bunch of terrible children who portray the personalities of the three agencies perfectly. This is something I would definitely read multiple times. It's a wild and wonderful read, so give it a go!

Unsure whether obtaining eternal life is a blessing or torture, he watches as the days go by. One day, he discovers a crying baby, abandoned, and decides to raise it as his own.

Will it grow up to be the prim and proper child that Chuuya wanted to raise?

I love the simple moments the author created to capture Dazai as he grows up, too. The ending is beautiful and everything I could've wanted from the story. This is a wonderful read!

Fox Chimes

“I know how you feel about these mountains, but regardless of that, it is not your home. You belong here.” Then, slowly, Chuuya slid the mask over his face and pulls the string over his head, brushing the bells briefly. As they chimed to the sound of rustling leaves, Chuuya turned around to stare at him, but all Dazai could see was the eerie smile of the fox mask.

“When you hear the fox chimes echo through the mountains, do not enter these woods, and do not come looking for me.”

This fic is absolutely beautiful and creative, and I wish it could've gone on forever. I loved every single second of it, and I recommend it a thousand percent.

This is one of my favorite stories. I was so happy to see it submitted to the library. I 100% recommend this fic to everyone! The author did a lovely job creating the perfect chaos of a fake dating relationship while keeping true to their personalities. This is a must-read story! Not Enough Settled Scores

Notes: What I like best about this fic is the way the author writes their characters so well, and plays on the diffrences between them. Chuuya genuinely cares for their men and is furious about Dazai not trying to save them. He is understandably angry at Dazai, but at the same time there is a level of attraction there despite how Chuuya feels about it. And then there's Dazai, who although he won't admit it out loud knows he'd never risk Chuuya, which is why he sacrificed the others in the first place. The subtle things Dazai does throughout that shows he cares despite his general coldness towards everything feels very real. I really enjoyed the whole dynamic they had here, and I think the relationship they had in the mafia could have looked something like this. Notes: This fic does a great job of setting the tone and building suspense. The author's distinct writing style really pulls you into the story and into Chuuya's headspace following the nightmare. They pay attention to all the senses, specifically touch and sound. They also do a good job of consistancy with small details, like a broken glass or spilled water, that come up repeatedly. The whole concept of Chuuya slipping out of control was handled really well, and I enjoyed how his fear of corruption was mirrored in his fear of the darkness. The dynamic between Dazai and Chuuya was perfect, with tender moments laced with uneasiness. This really was an excellent fic, thank you to the-shadow-lover for recommending this story to the library!
