A very interesting therapy session between Rung and Whirl.

HUGE thanks to herzspalter for coming up with the idea, dialogue and showing me  “story board” panels (this was originally a comic they drew but are still working on.) oh AND for letting me post this, you rock! ;)

Since things are still busy as hell and I will probably never find the time to properly redraw this comic, I’ll just give you guys the “storyboard” sketches I made for Crash with some colors. I wrote the dialogue specifically to be turned into this wonderful audio file, so in case you can’t read it due to the tiny size: it’s the same thing as in the audio.

I know it’s been more than 3 months since we made this, but I need to say again that I love Crash’s work on this so, so much, his Rung and Whirl are both spot-on and I can’t read these character’s lines without hearing his versions of their voices. Keep up the amazing work!

Rung is very likable to me, I mean he collects model spaceships and his alt mode is "unidentified object". It's hard for me not to like this nerd.

So when Rewind asks Rung if he's happy, and it's the first time he's ever been asked in his whole millions of years of life, it's absolutely tragic to me. Can you imagine how lonely you have to be for that to happen?

I suppose it shouldn't be surprising though, for a number of reasons. One of them being how we often don't check in on the people who keep things together. When you're used to someone having the emotional answers and explanations, its easy to think they have everything they need to be emotionally stable.

There's also the fact so many people on board are his patients, which means there's a certain level of professionalism expected. You're not gonna ask your therapist if he's happy. You might ask your friend who just so happens to be a therapist if he's happy, but you've gotta be friends in the first place and Rung doesn't seem to have that.

So here’s the thing about Rung...

You ready?

So there’s this first sketch of Rung that Alex Milne did a few years ago. It’s been making its rounds again recently with people commenting on how weirdly badass he looks on the sketches. I love the post a lot, and I also think that this is a great opportunity to talk about this character and why he actually is a badass in the ongoing series and not just on an old sketch.

Yes, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while and I feel like this is the chance.

Because I don’t want to keep repeating that this is just what I’m thinking: All of this is my opinion and how I read the character. I am not saying this is the only right way to see him or anything, this is my interpretation. If you find something here you agree on or that you think I might have a point about: Great! If you disagree: Great! We’re all friends here!

This contains massive spoilers and includes panels from the comics that are sometimes bloody.

(I’ll have to read this over once I’ve taken some distance to it, my mind is clouded right now from working on this, but I hope it makes sense!)
