#one of my favourite aspects of Gojo and Sukuna’s characters #hands down #they were both dehumanised from birth in opposite directions and it gradually worsened the further they grew in power and title #and they both internalised that shit so hard #they both have dialogue that practically states they don’t consider themselves human #in the ways that matter #perpetuating it onto themselves because that’s the way they learnt to live #and refusing to consider that another lifestyle is something they could and should try to grasp until they’re dead #they couldn’t be fixed because they were ONLY caught dead speaking on their feelings about their humanity #or more accurately the lack thereof they felt was missing and unrecognised #something something you can’t save those who don’t want saving #who don’t want to change in this lifetime #surrounded by flowers and fish #I especially love smashing their mutual lack of human identity together #they’re so weird I love them #gojo satoru #ryomen sukuna #jjk

Whenever I see someone deny sukuna’s humanity by claiming “he’s literally called the king of curses dude” I distrust any take they have on the story.

No sukuna did not gain extra arms and eyes and tattoos when he “became a curse”, he was born like that (as a “cursed little wretch/imigo/忌み子” if you will). Being born that way during the time he was born into was a major component in how he turned out the way he did, actually.

He looks like that because he is an exceptional case of conjoined twins (what he meant when he said he “ate” his twin). Considering there are real people today and in history (such as Josephine Myrtle Corbin) with cases of being conjoined or with polymelia, that argument against sukuna’s humanity is shitty, actually.

No he’s not a cursed spirit, see his fight with mahoraga. No he was not spawned into existence by collective human fear, hate and misery as a curse; he was born human from his starving human mother’s womb.

Sukuna is a special case in many aspects and that includes the category he would belong in, because fittingly he kinda became his own thing. Though parts of his og body which host pieces of his soul are cursed objects and he is listed as such in the introductory pages of the mangas, he’s clearly sentient and free thinking unlike an object while hosted in a vessel. He’s more similar to an incarnated sorcerer than anything else in my opinion, though even that’s iffy.

It was “the strongest sorcerer of today vs the strongest sorcerer in history”, not “the strongest sorcerer vs the strongest curse”.

Sukuna has the mind of a human, the soul of one, the emotions of one, is shaped by his past and experiences like one, seeks likewise people to connect with like one. His cruelty, depravity and otherness in all of that does not contradict his humanity because all humans have a capacity for cruelty, depravity and divergence from the majority. Just see the source of curses in the first place.

Though I do think part of this discourse exists because of the broadness of the term “curse” in the series.

Every time I remember that sukuna and wasuke are twin brothers who share a soul and never met, never even lived in the same time frame, part of me withers a little.

Yorozu is like Usurahi Shinjuu (薄ら氷心中) by Sheena Ringo to me. I already had that song on a playlist cus it’s a banger and when I translated the lyrics (there are a variety of translations to English that aren’t the most reliable but it’s what I found), I was like huh. This is kinda her.

I imagine his ‘other’ eyes get even more irritated than his ear lobe deformities do due to a lack of lashes and eyebrows to filter gunk out… it would make dust and water (or blood) in his eyes particularly annoying.
