it's been wayyy too long since i've seen the movie, i may be a little rusty!! sorry. headcanons under cut!

he is the absolute best at being a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on! he lets you sit with him while he gives you a mug of tea or cocoa, and then when you've calmed down, he asks if you want advice

he keeps some kids books in his desk for you. alice in wonderland, the secret garden, you name it. sometimes after classes are over, you'll cuddle with him as he reads to you by candlelight

speaking of reading aloud, he does all the voices! anything to be silly and creative and make you laugh <3

he always encourages you to be daring, but he's very careful to make sure you do it safely and don't do anything really dangerous

if you want, he will help you climb up on his desk with him! he'll let you hold his hand if you're scared

he reads poetry to you, and writes his own for you! if you write one, he'll praise it to no end, calling it a literary masterpiece

🌻 note: he's so me guys, he's so baby. no paci, mostly because i can't imagine how he'd be able to get one, i headcanon that he sucks and nibbles on the collars or cuffs of his shirts!! to me, he regresses so young (indistinct/no specific age) that he stops talking and more babbles to his caregiver, neil. he gets carried around a lot and loves loves loves having kid coffee in front of a fireplace all cozied up in some blankets (kid coffee is lightly warmed chocolate milk with a small layer of whipped cream - neil calls it kid coffee so todd doesn't get upset they're not having the same drink)

I liked the book better but yeah I can see it- Rocky thinks these are normal Human Things- Grace is probs embarassed about regressing like Rocky is about eating and it IS kinda similar so Grace doesnt contradict him

I feel like what happened before getting sent off has baby Grace very concerned with how gentle he’s going to be handled by his carers. He always checks in before they do anything.

Adrian leans in to tie a bib around his neck before feeding time? A very frightened Grace asking “gentle?” to which Adrian confirms “yes yes yes. Always gentle.”

Rocky helping change him? “Gentle?” Grace asks before laying down on the mat. “Gentle gentle gentle. Example,” Rocky confirms, touching his leg lightly to show the pressure he is going to use.

It’s just a routine that any time his carers interact with him physically, he asks “gentle?” even when he’s not afraid anymore and has gotten used to being cared for by Adrian and Rocky, then he starts saying “gentle”, as more of a reassurance to himself that yes, they will be gentle with him ❤️

Gentle gentle gentle! It's what baby Grace needs, he needs to be reassured that all touch and actions are from gentle and secure intentions!

Rocky and Adrian don't mind in the slightest to reassure Grace that they will be gentle 💖 They know Grace has fears and trauma's that stem from his last hours on earth and they don't want Erid to have those some feelings for Grace!! They want their little hatchling to feel safe on this planet!!

So whenever Grace ask "gentle?" they always respond and show how gentle they will be♡ Even if he ask hundreds of time, even if it's a task they've do everytime Grace is tiny, they will always reassure him and show him that they will be gentle with him💖
