i think rocky, grace, and armando (with help from the human thinking machine, of course) come up with a plan to help grace manage PTSD while he's still big. the soother is definitely a little grace thing, but the blanket and lovey help all the time.

I just imagine Grace getting to Erid and seeing little Rocky with Adrian and being like

“shit I wanna be a pebble too…”

Grace watching Rocky happily trilling as he's scooped up by Adrian after Rocky climbed up really high somewhere. Hearing the new tones that Adrian chirp out, they sound so...paternal, so sweet and gentle!

He trieeeees to act like he's just supportive that Rocky finally gets to be properly small but it's so painfully obvious that Grace is very much also wanting to be pebble xD

(To which, Adrian indulges because Grace IS a pebble by erid technicalities and what better way to have Grace be introduced to erid culture than by having him start at square one♡)

Grace who has never regressed before until erid? It's a few months into living in his new biodome and it's the first time he's ever felt home and truly safe. And he just crashes– regressing hard as it all hits him.

Grace had always been seen as the "more in tune with his inner child" to his colleagues but, Grace never really had a name for what he really felt nor did he ever feel *safe* enough to explore that

But! Once on erid, once he was healthy and in his dome...oooh all those decades long feels that never quite emerged were boiling over right now!

He suddenly just feels this rush of warmth and cotton-y fuzz in his chest, yes he was still very much Grace who helped save the sun but, he also felt very much like...someone small.

Of course Rocky and Adrian are right by his side, they can tell something is up with Grace. It's probably Rocky who clues in first, he kinda got vibes that Grace was a regressor after their journey to erid and begins chittering gently like one would with a pebble ;w; Adrian follows in their mate's actions

Ik you answered an ask about the first time Rocky watches baby regressed grace and how he's much quieter and stuff– what about the first time he regresses that young with Stratt? She would be so used to him never shutting up as a toddler/older regressor and constantly moving and wanting to be engaged and then baby grace is just,,, smiling at her? Staring quietly? Taking his temperature to make sure he's not sick–

Stratt was used to a rambunctious tot Grace, one who was constantly asking questions ("what's that?" "Why?" "Can I have more skittles?") or dribbling a bouncy ball whike she was trying to respond to emails xD that was just, tiny Grace for her, her little ball of energy!

So, she DEFINITELY thought Grace was sick when one day he's just...not all the above! He's just seated on the ground, the noises he is making aren't words, just soft coos and babbles as he leans into Stratt's touch as she's laying her hand over his forehead to check for a fever.

Maybe Carl walks in and is like, "Oh he's real small today huh?"

Stratt blinks, "this is, normal? He's so...quiet."

Carl nods, scooping Grace up, "oh yeah, he gets like this sometimes when things are extra stressful or he didn't sleep good the night before," he pauses to tug Grace's fingers out of his mouth, "clingy as all hell though so, hope you're good with typing with one hand because-"

Carl is cut off by Grace wriggling in the other man's hold, out reaching his arms towards Stratt with an insistent noise.

"It looks like you're his favourite today," Carl says, leaning over to plop Grace onto Stratt expectant lap.

Instantly Grace nestles himself against her with a soft puff of air and coo.

Stratt isn't exactly sure what to do at first but, she places her arms around his upper back, finding the rhythm pretty quickly. 💖 (and now she's secretly hoping for more days with baby Grace hehe)

yk how people try to encourage babies to crawl by waving a favorite toy or rattle some distance away from them? i think rocky would try this with hatchling grace. bc rocky really really would like to get some work done, or he'd like to get grace to his eridian crib bed, or really that Curled Up On Rocky's Ball isn't the best napping place.

and noooothing works. grace likes the rattle but is content to wave at it. separating gracey from his favorite lovey just immediately results in tears. rocky even tries calling out the way you do to pebbles learning how to crawl, but grace just happily imitates him from where he's sat.

rocky sort of sigh-growls and just. crosses the room to try to find something new to try. a little grumpy grumpy grumpy. and then he hears some shuffling — he turns around, and grace is crawling towards him !!!

(turns out, all gracey really wanted was rocky)

Crawling is such a big milestone for babies and pebbles alike! It means the carer and tiny have a new independence but of course, the tiny one actually NEEDS to be on board and well, Grace is not xD

He's content being a little potato, happily babbling as he mimics the waving of the rattle and giggling when Rocky makes just the most exasperated trill after five minutes of rattling!

"Grace can not stay on floor all day," Rocky chirps, "Rocky need work, Grace can not see hear Rocky that far away."

Grace blinks, the edge of the blanket in his mouth as he just lifts his arms up with a happy coo. Something that says "well? Pick me up then." (Big Grace full well knowing Rocky doesn't have the skin suit functional yet, baby Grace well...the want of uppies overrules logic)

Now Rocky understands why his friend's with their own clutches suddenly had longer sleeping times, babies are exhausting xD

🥺🥺💖 Rocky throwing in the towel, maybe he was going to go over to Armando to have a bottle made for Grace (hoping that would entice Grace) but, he only makes it a couple feet before he hears the shuffling!

Rocky pauses, a happy trill as he hears the soft thump as Grace crawls towards him ;w;

(Insert that one Bluey clip where the Bluey starts walking because she wants her mom, very Rocky and baby Grace coded 😭💖)

Lil Rocky does NOT want to sleep. He huffs and stomps around as he angrily trills he DOESNT want to sleep. He doesnt need to! He is big (he isnt) and he is a FULLY GROWN ADULT ROCK (he really REALLY isnt) and he wants to WORK.

And by work he means making little figures of the new tv show he just watched with grace.

Grace has a HARD time with getting him to settle down. Once rocky is out of the ball and able to tuck himself nice and close to grace (to hear him better) he is better but still not great.

When rocky has a tantrum with Adrian there, grace tenses ready for the next hour, at least, to be painful for his head.

But adrian just taps on the ground once and Rocky stops immediately with one final huff. Adrian curls their leg around him and taps soothingly on his carapiece. "You still remember. Good." Adrian's voice is so soft and gentle as they gently rub a claw down the smaller's leg. "No tantrum means mkre stories."

Turns out rocky is a SUCKER for bedtime stories.

Not sure if you’re still taking LATRG headcanons, but I totally headcanon both Lars and Margo as regressors.

I can imagine their date nights eventually turning into play dates as they both realized their shared coping mechanism.

Oh my goodness yes!!! Regressor Lars and Margo are basically canonnnnnn in my eyes🥺🥺🥺💖💖💖💖

Their dates start out as the "typical" date activities (going bowling, a walk in town, watching a film, etc) then once both open up to each other about their regression, then their date nights sometimes become play dates♡♡

The two looooove to get all cozy at home (Margo's or Lars') n' show each other their toys (Lars loves getting to hear about Margo's dollies and Margo loves getting to hear about Lars' teddies♡), doing parallel play (Margo playing with her dolls while Lars is doin' little word searches) or even playing board games for kiddos together 💖💖💖 aaaa!!!!

•° Regressor Driver hcs •°

• No discernible age headspace but no matter the age, Driver is *silent*. Occasionally he'll say one or two words, perhaps ask a question but besides that, Driver doesn't talk and just sorta, uses his puppy dog eyes or small noises to have his carer know what he wants/needs!

• He does tend to regress to a smaller headspace for the most part due to stress, but, at times is in an older kiddo range if he's having a better day.

• The nickname "kid" gets him all teary because it reminds him of Shannon ;^;

• LOVES toy cars. Could be the wooden one, could be hot wheels, no matter, Driver loooves having the vroom around the table or ground! He's got elaborate stories that go with his car playing (his carer does have to keep an eye on these stories because sometimes it becomes Driver reliving getaway gigs and making himself all upset/sad without fully knowing what he's doing)

• Night-owl! It's very difficult for Driver to sleep during the night, especially when regressed! He needs loooots of help (back pats and a constant humming tends to help him the best♡)

• Just sorta...stares intensely. Like a baby who is learning, he's just examining you by staring xD

• Unsurprisingly, going on drives soothes him. The gentle bumps of rolling tires on asphalt, the wind blowing from the open window, the smell of the leather, it's all things that have Drive calm (aka: if he's inconsolable, just pop him in the passenger seat and take him for a drive, he'll be a happy camper by the time you're down the street♡)

• That being said...he still wants to drive!! So, stick on of these bad boys on the passenger side and he will "help drive" 💖

• Very clean kiddo! He does noooot like when his hands are sticky or dirty! It feels yucky! So sometimes he'll just hold his hands out and make upset noises until his carer wipes his hands or brings him over to the sink to wash up ♡

little grace regressing for the first time in space?

ohhh anon this is so evil yes absolutely

he has no idea what regression is, obviously. he barely even knows why he's in space at this point

since grace's regression tends to be triggered by stress, i imagine being an amnesiac in the middle of space with no way home would 100% be enough to make him drop involuntarily.

he doesn't know Why he feels the way he does, but he definitely feels it, and he doesn't know how to deal with it either

he's alone, and scared, and lost, and suddenly so so small and he has no idea what to do with it

a lot of crying. loud crying. grace is usually a quiet sniffler, but without his memories he wails with 0 restraint. what would be the point in holding back anyways? he's alone.

he wails, and he pulls at his own hair and chews on his fingers until armando eventually has to gently restrain him so he doesn't injure himself –

when he eventually exhausts his energy he curls up under his quilt and sits near the robot (closest thing to a caretaker) until he falls asleep, tears still running down his face

he regresses a few times after that – but they're less explosive each time until eventually he can drop without hurting himself, although he still cries a lot. he's not very good at caring for himself when he's small, but luckily he has a nanny-robot and eventually an alien best friend to take care of him :)

i think his first memory about his regression would come back when he finds some of his gear packed with his stuff. maybe a pacifier or a plushie. things make a lot more sense afterwards but he's also a bit embarrassed about the whole thing.

Here's a middle regressed Grace aboard the Hail Mary who is self-conscious about his strong emotions, and especially the fact that he cries so often. He knows he can't hide from Rocky, but in this state (even if he leans young,) they got an understanding that "hiding" means he needs some time alone.

He's tucked into a corner, knees pulled up to his chin. And he is trying SO hard not to cry again. His body rigid, breath held, eyes screwed shut. The effort it takes not to make a sound and to keep back the tears is giving him a headache. Entire body trembling from the effort just to keep from crying.

Rocky's not going to ignore that.

He'll approach wordlessly and simply sits with his Grace. Trying to get him to talk is s fruitless endeavour. So he sits, nudging the xenonite ball against Grace to connect. And before he knows it, Grace's posture relaxes and he launches himself against the ball, hugging the structure with the same force he was just holding himself. There he can finally let some tears spill.

No words are needed.

Rocky understands.

And Rocky won't judge
