Lincoln admired Daisy for a moment, mesmerized by the undeniable spark between them. He wasn’t certain that it would ever go anywhere, but she gave him a hope to continue off of. He didn’t need to give up, not when she was inspiring him to continue on just like he once did for her.

Smirking at her even tone, he shrugged, trying to sound nonchalant despite his raspy voice.

“Electric.” 

The tension that came with such a significant moment broke when Daisy snorted at his reply. The racing of her heart and the emotions in her throat seemed to fade into the background, still present but no longer all-consuming as amusement colored her features and she looked up at him with a hint of challenge. “You really had to think hard on that one, didn’t you?”

Daisy couldn’t deny that some of her own team had treated her very differently, but they were passed that now. Weren’t they? She was in charge of this new project and SHIELD was still as much her home as it had been before Ward had nearly ripped it all apart when the HYDRA-storm broke loose. Those that were truly afraid were out there, in the open, chasing people like her and Lincoln. And as long as he chose to roam the streets with all those dangers after him, the brunette wasn’t sure she could keep him safe. 

Instead of saying any of this, she smiled up at him and told him gently, “Don’t worry about me. I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”
