@skylar-moran:
Maybe sheâd spend the rest of her life furious. Maybe ever waking moment was meant to be filled with words that burned holes through the back of her throat. Now the only thing running through her mind was how she really should have stayed in bed that morning. Maybe there wouldnât be a wildfire in her chest now if she had. Groaning, she made her way through the familiar corridors. Sheâd been boycotting her office all day, losing herself in the hide aways of Lazarus all out of spite â spite at Kai, for hiring Walker, and spite at Walker for being, well, Walker. There was really only one person she wanted to see and as she turned the corner, Luce found herself hoping harder than ever that Sky would be there.Â
And she was.Â
Sky was curled over a microscope as Lucy leaned against the door, clearing her throat to gain Skyâs attention. âSo, uh, I know we donât really do hugs and I know youâre working but do you think we could do drinks instead? Like, I-need-to-be-drunk-five-minutes-ago-right-now.âÂ
Sky hadnât heard the girl in the hall, not used to her walking so buisness like. Her friend didnât walk like that, just like Kurtis who had a slow laid back tread and Izzy had a skipping one Lucy had a familiar rhythm. So she ignored it until she heard a throat clearing. Looking up from the microscope she saw Lucy - and she stood up going to her friend.
âWhatâs wrong? You look like - well like a ghost. Iâm going to guess itâs not a ghost because youâd probably be more excited about that but - okay lets go. Iâll tell Izzy to cover me.âÂ
She didnât normally do this - go out of work early. It wasnât like her - but the look of Lucy said that she needed to. Sky had a decades for science, but Lucy needed her now. Sky ducked into her coat and grabbed the backpack she had pushing the files deep into the cabinet as she closed it. âScale of one to ten.âÂ
