stories-with-penn:
The charade made Renee want to bolt. It was all wrong. Her dad was supposed to give her away to someone she wanted to marry. Not a stranger whose name she couldn’t remember off the top of her head. The next few minutes moved in a whirlwind and Renee was soon in front of the man whom she was to commit to for her entire life. Her eyes bounced here and there because found it hard to focus on only him but finally, when everybody sat and the music died down, the priest started the service and Renee’s eyes dragged to her husband-to-be.
He looked equally as freaked as she but there was a kindness in his gaze and he was unexpectedly good looking. But that didn’t mean anything. She’d been out with plenty of attractive men over the years and they were all disgusting underneath. The chance of this man is the same as the others turned her stomach and Renee closed her eyes just in time to feel a tear slip down the side of her face. She wished for this service to be over.
They went through the motions of the ceremony and when it came time for the rings Renee’s hand was shaking something fierce, finding it hard to hold the ring between her fingers to the point it dropped on the floor. A curse passed through her lips and she stared down at the gleaming band of gold, unable to pick it up because her dress was on too tight.
Of course this would happen…
Skyler watches as the ring falls to the floor. The room around them does quite as this happens but he couldn’t help but laugh. He can feel the eyes of his parents burning holes into him as his laugh echos throughout the church. He shakes his head a little bit before bending down to get the ring for her. After all he could tell by how she didn’t get it herself that her dress was probably too tight. “Here.” He comments lowly as he places her ring in her hand. “Don’t worry, if you drop it again I’ll get it for you again.”
