MASSIVE ONE PIECE SPOILER
Fanart of a theory lmao
When I started watching Thriller Bark, I thought it would be a fun Halloween story... how wrong I was 💀
Okay, but no. Why does the Imu Parrot Theory make sense???
Because, animals have eaten Devil Fruits and gained some level of consciousness. The way certain things are framed and the way certain hints are given, it does seem like something Oda would pull!
AND, it would make sense why Roger and his crew laughed at Joy Boy's story! They learn that the ruler of the world is a bird!
Here are the basics:
The Japanese name for parrot of "omu."
Imu's wings aren't devil wings, like people he's Domi Reversi'd. They're feathered and bird-like.
Chapter 1188, Luffy transforms into a Genie, like the Genie in Alladin. Jafar has his parrot, Iago.
Iago is the name of the main antagonist in Othello.
The Domi Reversi attack is based on the game, Othello.
The butterfly with Imu in that one scene is a Blue Morpho, which is commonly in tropical climates, like parrots.
"Alstroemeria psittacina," more commonly called, "Princess lily" or "Parrot flower."
Also, it's a very common trope for pirates to typically have a parrot. With Joy Boy being the first pirate, it makes sense.
It also draws parallels with their fruits, Joy Boy having a God, Imu having a Devil. (Not a part of the theory, I just find this observation cool. Then, it would make sense why Human-Human fruits are immune to/can cure Domi Reversi.)
Why just just why are the lines connecting? Are they meant to connect? Are they allowed to??
I’m gonna be crushed if the big bad isn’t a giant parrot now :()
Mu? Imu!
I haven’t seen anyone point this out yet, but in the official English translation, when Joyboy asks for the identity of who he’s talking to, Imu answers in a way that makes it seem he’s questioning his own name.
Who questions what their own name is?
I’d like to know what people think this means!
from what ive seen while reading the manga, imu uses "mu" in replacement of the word "me" ^^
so i read it more as in like "youre asking who i am..?" type thing. like confirming that he was the one being spoken to even though he already knows. or like a suspense thing
but theres also a popular theory that imu named himself that and has another name. but idunno!
Very logical explanation! To add on I’m leaning towards the context being more of confusion. Cause Imu was royalty, so who would be bold enough to speak to him so brashly?
also crazy that transponder snails existed 800 years ago. For some reason I always assumed it was a vegapunk invention.

The one time that the strong female lead was literally a sexy lamp and it made the narrative

Gotta be honest, I didn't imagine that, of the two of them, Shamrock would be the one with the slutty cleavage
Though I love their matching thigh-high Chanel boots

One Piece episode 1148
sooooo are we going to ignore the imagery of some winged figure falling into the ocean? I know the episode only came out yesterday but guuuuuuuuuuys
One of the many tragedies of Ace is that he's not much like Roger except in the ways where he is exactly like his father.
And I know I've mentioned this before, but the sea in One Piece represents freedom for the outcast. People who don't belong anywhere else go to sea in hopes of finding like-minded friends and fulfilling their dreams. It's the place for people who don't fit into society's rules, and because of that it liberates pirates from society's constraints and prejudices.
To add on here, Ace’s original crew was entirely filled with weirdos and outcast, the oddest of oddballs. Unlike his brother, Ace more so took anyone in instead of taking in those he found cool. He built his own little group of weirdos that stuck together.
I'm sorry?!?!? Why does their ship have a Brook with a shaved head as the figure head??? Its the same scar????
Seriously, Gunko, How Old Are You?
I am sure dermatologists hate you and want to know your secret.
This scene is genuinely disturbing: Luffy in Gear 5 is laughing goofily while Vegapunk is dying in the background. The contrast is so sharp that the hero comes across as a psychopath, laughing in the midst of tragedy. Instead of real emotions, there’s only a “goofy” mask, incapable of responding to the pain of others.
And here arises the question: isn’t this the dark side of the God Nika? Freedom as a rejection of responsibility, joy as indifference to others, and the cartoonish reality as a distorted carnival that dulls the mind. Yet grief, pain, and anger — the most human emotions that have always driven Luffy — are what give us the strength to fight for what matters. Laughter only mutes them, distancing him from reality.
Thus Gear 5 looks less like liberation and more like a distortion of spirit. And perhaps, sooner or later, Luffy will have to ask himself: is it worth using this form of his Devil Zoan if it strips away his very self, forcing him into the image prescribed by the fruit?
What if the reason why Buggy's and Rocks's bounty posters look so similar isn't because they're related but because Rocks was imitating Davy Jones instead? I'm sticking to my "Buggy is Joyboy's son who got sent into the future" theory simply because that'd be too damn funny
Is it weird that I want Shakky to just scream at Rayleigh or something? Like allllllll these other men go after her, and the ONE she likes won’t fucking do it? I know they end up together, and based on that one line is Sabaody, Rayleigh and Shakky could have an open marriage, but I just want someone to hit Rayleigh. Just once. Gimme some angst between my favourite older ship!
Humandrills are a reference to mandrills
I feel stupid for just realizing this 😭 I went to a whole ass zoo and was just like “Oh!”
guys I love ace
