❝ I CAN’T HELP IT. crete was filled with pun-lovers. fun fact. and my dad-- my dad was the best there is. he’d make a pun and half of greece would sigh and groan. ❞
“Explore the TARDIS? I err –– no. No i don’t think that’s a good idea. Doc was VERY explicit about not touching anything.” But he did want to see more of the TARDIS, he’d been here more than a few months basically and he still hadn’t seen much of her. Though, there were adventures outside the TARDIS to be had. He looked to the door, then back to Icarus, then back at the door. He put his ice-cream on the side “I guess a little look might not hurt? We’ll be back before he even figures it out even?”
❝ THOSE ARE THE WORDS of a WISE MAN. come on, henry. let’s try to find the botanical garden sauna he keeps mentioning. ❞
icarus performed a little sprint towards the main corridor that would lead them into the depths of the blue box. come on, his mind spoke, show us something beautiful. something extraordinary.
“Well, it’s cool Icarus, don’t worry about it! I’m happy I err, fell into the Doc’s arms too.” He was still very unused to Icarus’s way of speaking, but he was getting there. “The Doc is a special friend, and he’ll take care of us that’s for sure. It’s awesome is what this all is” Henry chewed again on his ice cream, indicating to his new friend with a smile. “Please try some? It’s good try it, it won’t bite. Just don’t eat it so fast!”
❝ OH, THAT’S QUITE GOOD! people actually thought this was a great idea, though? flavoured snow? it just seems a bit... ILLOGICAL. why would one want to eat frozen water, you know? ❞
the wingless boy began drumming on the console, his eyes darting from one spot to the other. the doctor was out, running some kind of errand. ‘DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING. JUST STAY THERE IN THAT EXACT SPOT.’ the words still echoed through the TARDIS. but icarus remembered the doctor’s enthousiasm when introducing him to the blue box. the infinity of rooms at the end of an equal infinity of twisting corridors...
❝ SO, HENRY. after you finish that frozen snow, how about you and i go on some sort of exploration. i think wonderful things are hinding in the depths of this box. what d’you say? ❞
@skysoared ,
❛ what exactly is the plan here ? ❜
❝ I SAY; WING IT. pun unintended. ❞
“Never really felt like I belonged anywhere myself until HERE.” Henry gave a tender love tap to the TARDIS, a comforting thunk of the metal under his fist. “But I’ve never really had a father, I don’t know what that’s like. –– no mother either. Just people around. Guess Doc’s the closest thing i’ve got.” He shrugged, not committing to continue to explain the story just yet. “I’d never even left the country until the Doctor took me out of space….”
❝ I’M SORRY TO HEAR THAT. but hey; we walked our paths and crossed forks in the road, only to arrive in the doctor’s arms. it’s extraordinary when you think about it. i’m glad i met you both. don’t get me wrong: i miss my father a lot, and i’ll never forget my time on crete, but it’s just such a privilege to be on this ship, sailing the stars with you two. ❞
(✭) “Ike is good though, it’s catchy. – It’s cool.”
❝ ‘COOL’? how can a name fluctuate in temperature? or is this one of those confusing words like ‘tight’ and ‘gnarly’ at work again? there’s been a lot of technological advancement since i left ancient greece, but linguistics have crashed and burned, i think. ❞

“I’m dreadfully sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
❝ OH, GODS, i’m terribly sorry for bumping into you, miss. i hope you’re okay. ❞
and that was it. that was the end of the encounter-- or it could have been. but icarus felt at ease around this woman. he felt so at ease, actually, that he tried to spark a conversation.
❝ UM-- ARE YOU on your way to the market as well? --if you don’t mind me asking, ‘course. ❞
[ ♒ ] - OPEN.
❝ MY FATHER & I, we used to travel all over the place, so i get what you’re saying. i guess that we never had a home ‘til we reached CRETE-- but even then, it didn’t feel like we BELONGED. the open road was our home, y’know? ❞
[ ♒ ] HEADCANON
WHEN HIS WAX WINGS melted and icarus crashed to the ocean, the wax burned an imprint of the wings into his back. the burn wound was cooled immediately as he fell into the depths of the aegean sea. this is the reason icarus has an imprint of feathered wings on his back, as if he was branded by a white hot iron.

ICARUS greek mythology - doctor who companion - roleplay blog
----- like for a starter!
❝ I’M NOT SURE how to start this. the fisherman told me to tell my ‘life story’ into the voice box. my name is ICARUS, son of DAEDALUS. my father and I-- we lived on CRETE, serving under king minos, a very cruel man. my father invented WINGS and planned our escape from the island-- which is what we did, about a week ago. he instructed me and we took off. i’m not sure, but i think something went WRONG. my wings melted-- and i crashed downwards, into the morning ocean. that’s where this wooden cube comes into the story. i was about to DROWN when this FISHERMAN reeled me in. he calls himself a doctor, but i do not think he is a healer. his eyes remind me of my father’s. that everlasting gaze of wonder, of curiosity... it’s a peculiar sight. sorry-- went off on a bit of a tangent. it’s just a lot to take in; all these inventions. that man is no ordinary fisherman. a piece of me still whispers-- keeps telling me i really DID drown, keeps telling me he’s CHARON, just here to bring me to the other side of the river. there is no OBOL on me, though. i won’t be able to pay for the one-way trip. perhaps i should tell him. he’s standing there, smiling at me from the doorstep. he looks at me not like i’m a person, but like i’m the next exciting story he can tell his friends about. i don’t know how to feel about that gaze. well, it’s been nice speaking to this... DOCTOR? what did you call this? ah! a microphone! right. so much to learn. so much to see. it’s all so new and different and-- it’d actually excite me, were i not DEAD. but perhaps-- just MAYBE this is actually happening. just MAYBE the fisherman saved me. MAYBE he brought me into a whole different world to explore. imagine that. father would be PROUD. ❞
