I were writing it, Sky would’ve died the same but she would’ve said “No you won’t. Viktor would’ve.” When she died instead, symbolizing that she sees the change from Viktor to Machine Herald, and it makes more sense that way bc we’ve SEEN Viktor care about her. Whether you ship them or not, he wanted to abandon hextech because of what happened to her. She was there for him, he cared for her, he even (canon) got her her job as his assistant, to get her out of the Undercity.

I personally think the better way to clarify that scene would’ve been Sky saying that the Viktor he was becoming (Machine Herald) wouldn’t miss their talks. The Viktor she fell in love with, the sweet boy from the Undercity? He always loved their talks.
