the fundamental issue with a lot of genderswap yuri is that it’s almost never transgender abt it. The mc will have multiple instances of “wow I love being a girl! I don’t wanna go back to being a guy” and then the narration will refer to her with he/him pronouns and the writer will force the mc to have an arbitrary “ohhh but I’m a guy tho! Even tho I’m a guy? Aaa” moment for literally no reason.

I just finished one such genderswap yuri where the mc got transfeminized by some rare medical condition, and it turns out his best friend, who has been a girl for as long as he’s known her, also had that happen to her. But the thing is, mc doesn’t actually give a fuck abt being a girl, he doesn’t take any actual joy in it. He doesn’t outright hate it by any means, but he at no point is cool being referred to with she/her. His friend, however, very much delights in being a woman, she’s well versed in her experience and no one outside the school staff knows she “used to be a boy”

anyway at the end of the manga the mc finds out abt this fact and they start dating but the narration and BOTH characters start referring to the girl, who’s spent the entire manga being very cool and happy with her circumstances and trying her best to be supportive of the mc in helping him adjust with a sense of camaraderie, with her “deadname” and old pronouns exclusively
