being a painter means constantly asking the question : why do things look the way they do ?
This is a real ontological question. What is the essence of something when it can appear in so many different ways ?
The line separates entities and turns them into things.
Tone connects experiences and rejoins those entities together into a whole.
Everything is connected. More precisely everything is really sewn into each other. That tree you see on your way to work is sewn into your existence no less your hair is sewn into your head.
Sometimes -and that is evident in the work of great painters, is really hard to separate things from each other. The reality between subject and background becomes blurry and different subjects are melting into each other. That doesnāt not mean that the boundaries of entities are nonexistent. In fact those boundaries are flexible, negotiable and ever changing.
