Its sad that this still happens to black queers when we try to enter so called queer spaces, especially dark skinned queers. After I drew this a friend pointed out that its not just queer spaces, this instance of policing and insinuating that we do not belong is played out across all institutions, the housing market, the curriculum, hollywood and history.
Reclaiming Space Time ( part one )
First 5 parts of If Doctor Who Was Black. I am currently looking for ways to fund making this into a full graphic novel. So please @ me with links to potential funding avenues.

“I was attracted to science fiction because it was so wide open. I was able to do anything and there were no walls to hem you in and there was no human condition that you were stopped from examining.” ― Octavia E. Butler

Decolonisation is Queer Liberation!
Casual Reminder that the gender binary is a racist binary. All around the world indigenous cultures have accepted and supported Trans, Non-Binary and Non-Heterosexual identities for thousands of years. The idea that there are only two genders is a colonial fantasy that needs to die. #decoloniseGender images by @jacobvjoyce
I had heard that another LGBT activist in Jamaica had been murdered but I did not know his name and his story blended into so many others of queer folks in the Caribbean fighting for their rights. Today I finally got time to look into Dexter's death and could only find sensationalised articles and the regular blame being redirected back onto queers for the "dangerous company" we keep. Eventually I found his Instagram account which is private but you can access certain photos though his twitter which is where I found this quote: "Sometimes I wish Kingston was a better place, with less crime ...so I can show the world how wonderful my country is ... In my EYES" I really hope that Dexters dream can be realised and that Jamaica will one day rid itself of the hateful, decisive buggery laws that were enforced on them by British Colonial Rule. I hope one day LGBTQ people will not be criminalised just for existing in their home lands. I hope that England and all the other European countries that gave themselves reparations for the financial losses they made when slavery ended either return the equivalent of that money in reparations or choke to death stolen fruits of black caribbean labour. I hope that the seeds Dexter planted and sheltered in his short life can grow. Rest in Power Dexter 3d Pottinger.
